  • "Our 4th visit and never disappointed - everything was fabulous and lived some of your new summer menu items - chicken kebab and grape leaves! Well done and hope to return soon!"

  • "Second time around just as wonderful! Cannot wait for my next visit!"

  • "We went with a gift certificate we were given, from our children, with our children. It was interestingly prepared foods done with natural and simple ingredients. The prices are higher than we usually pay for good food."

  • "We came to Philadelphia to celebrate my husband's birthday. My husband is an Israeli-American and we were eager to dine at highly-rated Zahav. We opted for the special tasting menu and so glad we did. The creative approach to meld food from the diaspora with Mediterranean and Middle East cuisine was exceptional. The hummus with foul was sublime as was the varied salads. The warm dates stuffed with feta and served on tchina were scrumptious. The main dish of a 1/2 shoulder of lamb cooked with pomegranetes, chick peas. and mint was so tender the diner was instructed to pull off the meat with small tongs. The portion was huge and the lamb delicious. Special thanks to the responsive waitstaff and "toda roba" to chef Michael Solmonov!"

  • "Had heard plenty about Zahav over the years, but this was our first visit. It was our wedding anniversary. I had received a generous gift card from my son, and felt this was a worthwhile occasion. I really can't say I've ever had better service, and we loved the decor and location. The food was really a revelation though. I like middle eastern food, in general, but the cuisine here was really special. It was unique, delicious, just the right size portions, and possibly even healthy. Well, maybe not so healthy, the dessert, but honestly, it was, as they say, "to die for." The place is pricey, but compared to some other dinning experiences I've had, worth it. Well, the gift card helped.."

  • "Our dining experience was outstanding, amazing, exceptional, and then some! Knowing nothing about Israeli cuisine, we asked our server (Gabriel—fun, knowledgeable, an absolute delight!) for the Chef's Menu, which was superb. We will most decidedly return and ask for Gabriel...and maybe be brave enough to order off the menu!"

  • "Having heard the buzz for quite some time, I was ready to be underwhelmed. My party shared the tasting menu and nearly everything was exceptional. The flavors on each plate were interesting but still held firm to classical Middle Eastern dishes. Though we had little room for dessert, the halva mousse was incredible."

  • "The food is excellent!!!!! Would absolutely go back."

  • "Very nice meal with a few standouts (grilled tomato small plate melts in your mouth), but no way better than Osteria or Amada (IMO), as suggested by Craig LaBan. Waiter graciously replaced a glass of wine I didn't care for, much appreciated. For those without a lot of experience eating real Israeli food it is probably the closest they will come in this city, but I wish it had been the transporting experience I expected. Still, a very pleasant evening out."

  • "We had big expectations going to Zahav, as both friends and critics have spoken highly of it. It exceeded those expectations! At the risk of setting unrealistic expectations for the diner reading this review, my wife described it simply as "the best meal of her life." Everything about this place is really great. Most importantly, the delicious food. You should go."

  • "An out-of-town engagement dinner is difficult, but the stellar, authentic food and welcoming staff made our evening memorable."

  • "Well-prepared food with wonderful flavor and great service. The attention to detail in both the food and service made for a really nice evening for myself, my husband and my two adult children celebrating my daughter's birthday. Nice to have a menu able to satisfy both carnivores and vegetarians. I would highly recommend ordering the Taste of Zahav."

  • "Zahav was highly recommended by friends and we weren't disappointed! Our waiter was very helpful in describing the dishes and helping us to choose. We started with hummus with chickpeas - excellent! Then we had the fried cauliflower with mint sauce and a fried potato dish-both excellent with unusual flavors that blended very well. I had the bronzoni - a moist white fish and my husband had the lamb sausages - again both outstanding. The pace of the meal was just right and the other servers kept our water glasses filled, cleaned up between courses, and served our food."

  • "We had been looking forward to eating here for some time. We had a very good meal. The humus and salads were excellent. The small plates were very good - especially the sweetbreads. Outstanding desserts! Very attentive service. Very attractive restaurant. Only downside was that some of the small plates were overly salty."

  • "I ate here last November and have highly recommended it to anyone coming to philadelphia. I was here for work this week and got to return. Thoroughly enjoyed the summer menu and will continue to direct my Mississippi friends to fabulous meals at Zahav! Could not be a more ideal dining experience."

  • "Brought some friends here for the 1st time and they loved it. We all had the tayim, which is a multi-course feast and shared everything. The hummus was one of the best I've ever had and we loved the special bread "Laffa?" Although all of the dishes are small plates they keep bringing them out one after the other and even those with large appetites won't go hungry. We loved the spicy carrots, eggplant and beet salad; also the cauliflower; haloumi; and the filet caps were a big hit with our table. It was a great way to sample a lot of different dishes and perfect for sharing with friends. Thank you Zahav!"

  • "This isn't the first time I've been to Zahav and definitely won't be the last. Every time I think the chef presented the top of his game, I get surprised when he tops even what I thought is best with something completely new and better. The standard staples on the menu were still great like the humus and the halumi cheese dish (don't you dare remove that sweet delight! :) The new item I tried this time was the trumpet mushrooms - delicious! the perfect combination of chewy and soft, and soooooo flavorful! Nicely done!"

  • "Zahav is a warm, friendly and casual hotspot that combines great Middle Eastern cuisine with great service and a bubbling ambience. Wine choices were very good and mixed well with the small plates such as warm hummus, fried cauliflower, kofte meatballs and raw lamb with apricots. Great choice for foodies and those wanting something different."

  • "My fiance and I have been wanting to try Zahav for a long time. We finally made it this past week and we were blown away. This is one restaurant that truly lives up to the hype. Highly recommended. We had a fantastic time and couldn't recommend it highly enough."

  • "A feast inside a Beduin tented room with food worthy of the gods. Everything about my recent experience there surpassed already high expectations. The ambiance, well informed and smooth service deserves 5 stars plus but the food, my god! The food is beyond all imagination- a chef of legendary proportions. Thank you Zahav! I'll be back again."

  • "I was anxious to eat here as it is always ranked one of the "most booked" restaurants in Philadelphia. My sister and I were not disappointed. We decided to go for it and order the Mesibah because of course it was "party time". We enjoyed every dish down to the tender lamb shoulder and delicate dessert. Our server, Autumn, was very patient and had great suggestions. Zahav offers quintessential service. Everyone worked well as a team and we were never left wanting for a single thing. We will surely return."

  • "The food preparation, presentation and selection was excellent and our server, professsional and very helpful explaining the many dishes offered. The freshly made Laffa and Humus was the start of an exceptional meal, their salad selection, the Salatim, was very different, with a blending of veggies, spices, and flavors plus a great presentation as well. Left happy and well fed, we had ordered the Tayim, a tasting option, and it was an excellent value."

  • "Went there on a weekday with reservations for 3 people to be seated at 8:45. Finally, got seated at 9:15. Food was excellent and abundant. We were treated to extras; perhaps an unstated apology for the delay in seating us."

  • "Unbelievable experience - excellent food and service. Ethnic food at its best - well prepared and served. Best meal that I've had in Philly. Interesting menu and would suggest the Tayim where each person gets to select various items to share with the table. Very delicious dishes with lots of unique choices. More food than even the hungriest person could eat."

  • "Even though it was quite busy on the Sunday my girlfriend and I visited Zahav, we were seated within two minutes of checking-in with the hostess. We were seated in a section of the restaurant that is somewhat secluded from the main dining area, which was nice. The restaurant is painted in muted earth tones and didn't overdo it on the decoration. It was our first time dining here, so we went with recommendations from the waiter which didn't disappoint. The Turkish hummus was some of the best either of us ever had, while the the fried cauliflower left me mind-blown with the sauce the accompanied it. The spicy eggplant and chicken entrees were also quite good, though the chicken portion was a bit meager for two."

  • "Zahav exceeded all expectations. We chose the Tasting Menu (well priced and versatile) to celebrate a special birthday. The initial course, salad and hummus, was delicious and inventive. Beautiful, fresh vegetables prepared with obvious care accompanied the hummus and home made bread. The rest of the meal was terrific, as well, from the small plates of vegetables (mezze) to the main courses (perfectly seasoned branzino, chicken and lamb meatballs). Each dish had delicate flavors and accompanying sauce. The desserts--fabulous: chocolate mousse dotted with cherries and a dusting of nuts, a vanilla custard with rasberries and crushed pistachio. Very attentive service, warm, welcoming, informative. A lovely dinner; a very charming setting."

  • "Went for dinner and tried so many wonderful foods - the wait staff was unbelievable in helping us choose our meals. They explained the food and gave great recommendations. The food itself is out of this world - if you enjoy trying new foods, this is the place to be. We LOVED the cauliflower dish and the konafi was outstanding. My husband and I both had drinks that were very exciting and refreshing. We had visited years ago and remembered having a great experience our first time out - this time did not disappoint either. We are looking forward to bringing some friends along next time! Highly recommend Zahav if you want a truly unique, fun and delicious dining experience!"

  • "On our second visit the food was terrific and the service at least as good. I wish that we could say the same for the loud recorded music. Why do otherwise excellent restaurants do this? The (much) younger clientele must be attracted. After trying the prix fixe on our first visit we opted for the somewhat larger portions a la carte and were pleased. The hummus is to die for."

  • "I have heard a lot of good things about Zahav from my Middle-Eastern friends over these years. But my personal experience was not very satisfying. I guess that happens when you have higher expectations. The small plates were extremely small (the smallest in Philly) but flavorful. While the grilled items were a little larger in portions (may be the size of a "small plate" at a standard Philly restaurant) but strikingly unremarkable. The drinks and the cocktails were the only respite in the otherwise lackluster dining experience."
