A word from Yuzu Sushi & Robata Grill
Yuzu Sushi & Robata Grill is a Japanese restaurant we recently opened in the heart of Ukranian Village. As a former chef at Sushi Wabi for the past seven years, I am excited to present a full sushi menu and robata grilled items.

The interior is designed with 100-year-old reclaimed wood, as well as splashes of Japanese Manga art on the wall. We are also a BYOB establishment.

The sushi was good, but I've had better. I would have liked to see more specialty rolls not have cream cheese and not be fried. Our favorite roll was the spicy tuna which was the most basic one. But we still enjoyed our time. The staff was very nice and friendly.

Amazing sushi! I usually don't like sushi with tuna but their own was very good. The fish tasted very fresh. My friend and I had eel, yellowtail, salmon and tuna. The place is kind of small so not really a place for big groups. The service was great and while we waited for the food (which wasn't long) we admired the anime drawings on the wall.

We were in Chicago for the weekend, staying with a friend in the Ukrainian Village and were craving sushi. Of all the options available, Yuzu was the absolutely the best one. Good pricing, BYOB, friendly service an bomber maki. This is definitely worth the trip for some killer rolls. You'll be happy tou came!

The sushi here is fine, but it didn't seem to be the freshest in town. Lot's of rice and sauces used with the rolls, so the fish is a bit masked. Even the seaweed salad was a bit disappointing. The robata vegetables really stood out -- if we were to go back, we'd bring a bottle of sake (since it's byo) and have veggies from the grill. The concept is cool -- beware of what seems like former lab class chairs. Not to cozy after a while. Hip atmosphere and warm wait staff.

Just arrived here from New York and this is easily one of favorite go to spots. The beef short rib skewers are my favorite, but the eggplant, chicken thigh, and pork shoulder are great as well.

Friendly and welcoming neighborhood spot. The people at the table next to us, recommended the mango and avocado salad as the dish that kept them coming back; we took their recommendation and fully agree -- this salad is delicious. The sushi was also quite tasty; the maki rolls with a bit of added sesame oil were extra-yummy. Very fresh and flavorful. A small complaint -- hot tea costs extra (unusual for a Japanese restaurant) and it was nothing extra - hot water with a tea bag. Overall, however, I look forward to a return visit.

Service was great, there wasn't a second someone wasn't coming by to fill your cucumber water (the cucumber water is so refreshing). We had the dragon and the sweet peta and they were both two if the best sushi rolls we have tasted. The staff was super friendly, the atmosphere was fun and just an all around a chill place to lounge and have a good time. I will definitely be heading back there and telling everyone about it.

This is my and my boyfriend's new go-to spot for sushi. Just a short walk from where we live, the location is a little discreet and the space is intimate. The mango-avacado salad is an amazing start (sweet fruit combined with spicy ginger dressing is a great combination). I can't say enough about the sushi presentation! They are works of art on their own. Where some sushi restaurants drizzle the sauces over the top of the rolls, the sushi artists at Yuzu artistically plate the sauce on the side, giving you the option to use it at your discretion. The 'Pot River' roll is a favorite of ours. We have already been back since initially discovering this gem, and have recommended it to many friends.

Fantastic new sushi restaurant. Great food. Wonderful chef and friendly staff. Quite inexpensive. BYOB is an advantage cost-wise, too.

Delicious! Highly recommend the tuna (under the robata section)-- it's $3 for one piece but worth it. Other memorable eats were the sun also rises roll, the favorite midwest roll, and the black sea. Rolls were not too expensive, either! I'll definitely be coming here again.

  • Introduced to the restaurant

Introduced to the restaurant by our son. It was our 2nd visit from NW Indiana. Very small, but I'd say intimate. If you want to be sure of a table make a reservation, especially for a larger group. My husband loves poke' and it's one of the few places in Chicago to serve it as an appetizer; used to go all the way to Todai, but the last time we saw they had closed. The sushi is great as was the teriyaki and tempura. Last time I had really good pad thai. The mango avocado salad was good, but be prepared for 'hot' ginger dressing. I'm not big on speecy-spicy, but the boys liked it. They said the miso soup was good too.Very friendly, helpful wait staff. (...always like the music there.) Next time I will try the robata grill items!
