"There is way too much vinegar in the hot and sour soup!! Tone it down and it could be a pretty good soup.
The crispy beef has a decent flavor; however there is not much beef. Feels like eating fried batter.
The place is very nice for gathering with friends. You can actually hear each other's conversation without shouting."

"Yujean's used to be an outstanding Chinese restaurant when it first opened, and before the original chef moved on. Now it has become an good ordinary Chinese restaurant, but a pale reminder of its former glory. Many of the signature dishes--such as 'ants on a tree' and 'veal with taro root' are gone, as is the war won-ton soup that used to be made with all fresh ingredients. Was sad to see that on the night we were there (albeit early for dinner) there were only two other tables filled. Attentive service."

"Really nice Chinese, of which there is a shortage in Los Angeles. Took my mom there for Valentine's and we were both delighted. Everything is very light and flavorful, none of the heavy corn starch and sugar sauces you get at most places. Would return."

"The idea was to have a short and sweet Sunday lunch for four of us before going to the Huntington museum. We arrived a few minutes early for a 1:15 pm res. I think there was only 2 or 3 tables plus a group of 8 there before us. My friend had been here before and highly recommended this Chinese restaurant. We ordered five items to share. He food was so-so, the service was incredibly S L O W. I only saw one waiter at first, right before our main dish a second young man showed up to help serve and clear dishes. Two hours later we finally got the bill and left to have only about an hour to get to the Huntington and see the exhibit. Will not choose this place again when there are so many other fine choices near."

"We went for lunch prior to heading to Huntington Gardens at the very start of DineLA week. Our waiter could not have been more gracious, despite our party being a mixture of DineLA and off-the-menu, share and non-share orders. He even suggested getting a bottle of champagne when our 3 glasses would have been the same price, providing us with an extra glass. The food is excellent always. I used to dine here fairly frequently with my "West Coast Dad" before he passed, then moved to another neighborhood. I would dine here much more if I still lived near Pasadena! Neighborhood gem because there's so much to walk around and see/do right near Yujean Kang. Very conveniently located."

"I hadn't been to this restaurant for a number of years, although when we lived in Pasadena, we were regulars. I'm glad to say the menu hasn't changed much, and still features wonderful dishes like pork with polenta, and the delicious Chinese eggplant. My son loved his crispy noodles with seafood. The appetizers that are included with lunch, the hot and sour soup and small Chinese chicken salad were also very good. Unexplainably, the place was almost empty when we were there for Saturday lunch. Our servers were good although I thought they could have been a little more welcoming, especially given the fact that we were the only customers for a time. Overall, a good experience and good for a different take on Chinese food."

"We have been to this restaurant many times and have always had a great experience and delicious food. This time, the food was still great, but service was slow, it took 40 minutes to get our appetizer, and it took what seemed like forever to get our bill paid and leave. Dinner was literally twice as long as necessary, I don't know that we'll be back."
