A word from Yuca
YUCA, an acronym for Young Urban Cuban-Americans, is widely known as being South Florida's original upscale Cuban restaurant featuring Innovative Nuevo Latino Cuisine or as the locals call it "Nuevo Latino." This style of cooking includes traditional Latin ingredients such as a plethora of textures, colors, and flavors that when combined creates a cuisine that is unique to anything offered outside of the Caribbean and Latin America.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "This place is a loud tourist trap which takes large groups rendering it unpleasant for tables of two to four. Waiter was Ok but tried to talk us into the most expensive items on the menu when the smaller "Habana plates" are perfectly adequate as main courses. Best aspect of service was discreet and efficient runner who brought water, food, and cleared with an impressive effortlessness. First courses (fried calamari and shrimp, which was inexplicably served with mashed potatoes and goat cheese) deserved grades I C at best. Cerviche, however, was excellent although seafood empanada was pretty tasteless. I would not return to this restaurant."

  • "I was reading the reviews for Yuca Restaurant before taking a decision to make the reservation and I was a little bit undecided because some of the reviews mentioned that this was a very noisy place, but when I was at the restaurant door I asked to be sitted in a quiet place. We had a very pleasant dinner with a very nice service. The goat cheese croquettes were too small, but that was a reason to joke about it and to have a wonderful evening at Yuca Restaurant. I will recommend this restaurant to my friends."

  • "The place was recommended by my SIL, and it was just perfect. The taste, the portion size (for my dish - the one my brother got was enormous), the service. Would definitely be back."

  • "It's well worth sitting outside at Yuca. Although we found the music a bit loud at our original table under a speaker, we were moved closer to the sidewalk and were then able to converse. Also, being next to the sidewalk allows you to see every bit of the parade of humanity walking by. I'd say the food at Yuca is good to very good. I had a lobster special, which had pineapple and cheese in it. It's an odd flavor combination, but it works ... to a point. I found that there was just too much of this good thing. I would have preferred a smaller portion with some vegetables on the side. The service was friendly and efficient enough but not outstanding in any way. Overall, I'd recommend Yuca but I don't think I'd call it a must-visit."

  • "Nice for people watching but don't expect much from the food."

  • "The goat cheese croquettas and the serrano ham croquettas were both really delicious. But we were really surprised to see that each small pitcher of Sangria was $35 and we had gotten two. A meal for four cost $220 - with two appetizers, three entrees (two people shared) and two pitchers of Sangria. Ouch!"

  • "Yuca is a great restaurant, the food was really good, and our waiter had really good knowledge of the menu and specials. It was also very nice that he was able to talk to my spanish speaking parents without a problem or having me intermediate for them. There was a live music show in the floor that we were but you had the option of sitting downstairs if you wanted to avoid the music. The food was very good, a little bit pricey, but the portions were big."

  • "My daughter and I saw Yuca featured on the Tennis channel. The food looked awesome! We ordered the dish featured on the Tennis channel and I've had better at Red Lobster. The presentation was beautiful, the dish very expensive but the quality of the dish was just ok. It seemed like it had been mass produced and not as fresh as the price should command. However, the place is beautiful, fun for people watching and isn't that what South Beach is all about?"

  • "Nice neighborhood Gem. Service was great. I am not big on spice so was a little nervous with the name but was very happy with the food.. We had salads and the burgers and all came out as requsted, quickly. The servers were right on top of all of our requests. We were there for lunch while in Miami at the convention center. It was on the vibrant Lincon street, close to the convention center. We ate inside on the somewhat humid day. The large windows in the front made us feel as if we were dining outside. I would and have already recommended this restaurant for lunch."

  • "In the midst of the chaotic South Beach Lincoln Road scene, we found this great spot with Cuban trio playing live and wonderful attentive service. Food was really excellent from the Spanish style tapas to our entrees of macadamia crusted Mahi Mahi and oxtail special bursting with tender meat. Yuca relleno was a delight as a side. We sat inside to avoid the noisy crowds and enjoy the music. The bar scene looked great and there were several parties going on. Also nice for families that enjoyed large tables."

  • "Food was good. Restaurant itself was very loud. Hard to hold a conversation with my wife across the table. Band was attempting to play over some of the louder guests."

  • "We had an amazing meal. It was a little pricy so we split some apps and each had a small plate for dinner that left is perfectly content. Try the mango salmon tartare...it's amazing!"

  • "The food and service was excellent. The selection of small plates and full entrees was extensive and our waiter helps us with recommendations. We ate out side and enjoyed watching the people pass buy without feeling cramped by crowds. We had a wonderful meal and then when we asked about the Salsa lessons we were told they were no charge since we ate there. My wife and I had a Greta time learning to Salsa for two hours and had a blast."

  • "Very interesting modern Cuban/American menu, with something for all of three very different tastes. Excellent for people-gazing in the middle of Miami Beach's central pedestrian zone. Very swift service."

  • "If you are looking for authentic Cuban, this is not the place to go. Cuban food was fair at best. The beans were burnt and the ropa vieja dry."

  • "I ordered the small scallop . I was very disappointed . For 12 dollars 2scallops and a very small scope of mashed potatoes . Really? When goes out to dine the worst thing is not receiving good food for a fair price."

  • "We sat outside on Lincoln Road where there was a lot of traffic of folks with children, strollers, etc. going by. Probably a great place for lunch but not as desirable for a dinner. Drinks very good - however food was nothing special."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Started by sitting outside. Had to go indoors because someone was smoking cigar. We apologized to the waiter, but he was not happy, and showed it. Table and new waiter inside were fine. Ordered Goat cheese croquettes, got 4 the size of quarters. My husband was very happy with his churrasco, I however ordered Oxtail fettuccine which was horrible. The last time we visited Yuca was 19 years ago in Coral Gables, I guess I will wait another 19 years for next visit."

  • "Our second visit to Yuca was on valentine's day, so it was a little crazier than we remember it - we were going to a show afterward and since our waiter disappeared for 10-15 Minutes, we had to skip dessert. But we loved it and will Be back."

  • "Left the frozen north to enjoy a great evening of unique Cuban / Spanish fusion food. Our wonderful waiter made the evening perfect. He helped us order an interesting dinner of food and we were very happy, indeed. The price structure was also reasonable."

  • "My husband and I were looking for a nice dinner not far from our hotel (Loews) and this was Yuca was highly recommended. We were very disappointed. The staff was rude and rushed and the food was mediocre and way overpriced. The whole experience felt rushed and lacked intimacy. We were done with cocktails, appetizers and entree's in 45 minutes. A record. We will not return here."

  • "YUCA was a culinary experiment into Cuban cuisine for us. The food was very good, a Pork shank served Osso Buco style with black rice was very good. However, the appetizer arrived after the entrée and only because we asked about it and the waiter admitted he forgot to put the order in. The appetizer "Delicias" was a very pleasing mixture of Serrano ham, chorizo and Montego cheese. We opted to eat at an outside table which with the restaurant on the corner of Lincoln Road, a pedestrian street, and a cross street with vehicular traffic was a bit much. A table in the center of Lincoln Road would have been a better location."

  • "We were visiting for a conference and made reservations here. We were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere when we arrived, white table clothes and candles. Food was great, surprised by large serving sizes for the price. My mahi was a bit over cooked but VERY flavorful. I'd recommend!"

  • "We had a party of 8, took our wine order but would not assist the others getting just cocktails, came back 10 min later to inform us wine was not available, still did not provide cocktails to those not drinking wine, brought wine out, took order, food was good."
