We had 530pm reservations and showed up a few minutes late due to traffic. The staff were very accommodating and ensured that we received our food and drinks promptly as we had tickets for the meet and greet with Stanley Clarke prior to the show. The food was great and the Martinis were awesome.

The menu was decent, but for the prices, you would expect more variety (ex. they couldn't make me an ikura sushi with quail egg) or something spectacular. Everything was tasty and fresh, but didn't make too much of a memorable impression. The service was spectacular and the ambiance was good. Nice to go here before a concert, though you could also just get to the concert hall early and order some food there.

The food here is fine, and if you're planning to hear a show at Yoshi's it makes sense to come here. It's also an attractive, large space with several different seating options. The wait staff were perfectly friendly and well-intentioned. That said, this place needs to get it's act together. Several mistakes were made with orders, the timing was off, and there seemed to be a general clueless-ness as if the place had just opened. On a related note, and perhaps due to the same lack of strong management and direction, the way the lines are handled for entry to the music venue is completely ridiculous and results in lots of annoyed patrons who resort to bickering amongst themselves over who's standing in front of whom. A bit of a buzz kill.

Had dinner before a Lisa Fischer concert. Portions were quite small and quality of food was fine but not particularly distinguished or memorable. An appetizer and main course were not filling enough on their own - ordered more food during the show. Space has an industrial feel - certainly not cozy. Definitely not a destination restaurant in my mind - unless one is going to hear jazz.

We arrived at 5:30 and had tickets for a 7 o'clock at Yoshi's. The waiter asked if we were going to a show. When we said yes, he assured us we would be out in time. After we were finished with our entrees, the waiter was absent from the floor for a long time. We ended up getting our check around 7 and were late to the show. It is ridiculous and amateurish for a restaurant associated with the club (even if by name only) not to be capable of getting patrons out in time for a show that is 100 feet away. I will not go to the restaurant again before a show at the club.

It's sad that the quality of Yoshi SF has declined so much. The menu is nothing special, the servers have attitude, the interior finishes are all worn out and the air conditioning is ridiculous (Don't sit by the window or you'll need a scarf and hat on a sunny afternoon!) In addition, we told the hostess we were seeing the 7:30 show and she said no problem your seats will be reserved. Well guess what, they weren't! Luckily after sitting and waiting forever for a few small dishes we decided to go check and "Surprise" the club had no knowledge of us and we got crappy seats even though we'd been at the restaurant since 5:30. Seriously, skip the restaurant if you are going for a show.

Terrible and slow service on a Saturday night which was strange because there wasn't that many people. Server tried to comp a drink or dessert after but we said no because we've waited a long time already. Would have appreciated if the server atleast assured us that we would be taken care of instead of trying to give things free, there were many times when the server dissapeared for long periods of time. Host seated us near the windows to make the place look busy when there were many nice booths available that im sure many guest would rather sit at. Our table was near the ac vent so it was cold throughout dinner. This is my third time at yoshi's sf and I guess they have new ownership. I wil not be back.

First time here and had previously heard that Yoshi's was the place to go for Sushi before the Fillmore. We were not impressed! We were handed two menus to share. (There were 3 of us.) When we opened the menus, they were both wet and dirty. We asked for new menus when we ordered our drinks. The server came back twice saying the bar was backed up. We looked over at the bar and didn't see anyone at the counter. The sushi was mediocore at best, a bit dry and had to ask for more wasabi twice. Best item we ordered were the Brussels Sprouts. The restaurant was dimly lit with curtians between the tables but instead of making for a warm and inviting atmosphere, we sat shivering since the aircondition was blowing above our heads

Not the first time we've dined @ Yoshis, but definitely the first time we've been so disappointed in the service. Dinner reservations @ 6:30. We told our server that we were seeing the 8pm show. It took nearly 30 mins for him to come back to take our order. In fact, we had to catch the attention of the hostess to let her know we hadn't even ordered. Waited for our food...and waited. With 15 minutes left before our 8pm show, we told him not to bother serving us at the restaurant but to have our food moved to our show table. I've never been so disappointed with the lack of attention and service.

Sushi was good quality. I like the seasonal menu. Polar bear Roll was good. Miso soup was really tasty. The experimental hamachi tacos should have had either soft shell or have been fried in house. They were hard packaged shells. Service was friendly, she forgot a few small things but was attentive for the most part.

Came for dinner before seeing some live music. Beautiful building and decor. Innovative dishes carefully prepared. Friendly and attentive staff. I will go back for dinner and a show in the near future. The kale Caesar salad with miso infused dressing was different and delicious. The ahi tuna with a poached egg had flavors I had never encountered before, but the tuna may have been not as fresh as I would have liked, but still very tasty dish. The server's recommendations were all good choices.

Yoshi's San Francisco has far better food than Oakland. Ambiance is great - clean modern space with less crowded tables. Sushi menu had special one "From Tsukiji" with difference kind of sushi you can get in Japan. Other menu items are good - my husband enjoyed chicken and I ordered one of sushi rolls from regular menu. Dessert is sophisticated - green tea panna cotta and chocolate cake with black sesame ice cream. It was not cheap but I would come back before the concert.

If you attend a show at Yoshi's in San Francisco, do yourself a huge favor and eat elsewhere, or perhaps order food inside the show. We went there on a Sunday evening show and set up a reservation for 1.5 hours prior to showtime. We were seated quickly and our server came fairly quickly, but that was it for "quick." We were told that there were many menu items which were not available that evening - um, OK, although it was 7:30pm so hardly after a long dinner rush, but we could deal. We ordered edamame, miso soup, a couple appetizers, some nigiri and some rolls. Not extensive. After 20 minutes, we were told miso was out. The edamame came after 40 min, after we asked. The nigiri came after an hour. We cancelled the rolls after 1.25 hrs. Bad.

This review is for the restaurant: Distracted servers, mediocre food, sake that came after the third inquiry and a hefty bill. This was supposed to be a nice dinner with our son on a Saturday night. The new owners don't seem to care, in the past Yoshi's used to be one of our favorite places. Take a look at the dirty and disarranged curtains when you are on Fillmore, that says it all. We left after the appetizers and went across the street to Sheba Piano Lounge. We had great live music, great atmosphere, servers where very attentive and food was super delicious.

We made dinner reservations at Yoshi's SF because we wanted to get reserved seating in the music hall. Unfortunately, the menu selections were much more limited than in prior visits. It seems they're in transition between the previous owner and the new ownership, and they haven't invested much in their dining offerings. The sushi rolls were ok, but the roasted brussel sprouts and their pork belly starter dishes were very mediocre. It made me not want to go back to Yoshi's San Francisco again.

I am sure that the new owners will want to improve the appearance of the worn out seats that have patches in them and the amateurish service. The food was really great as usual. The service in the club was pretty awful. Cold coffee, soda water instead of tonic, a server who did not care at all.

There was no hostess, which made it difficult to get seated. The waitstaff were taking turns manning the hostess stand. The food was great . . . when it arrived. I was there on a date so it was a little awkward when my entree showed up a full 5 minutes before my date's entree arrived. It also made us a little late for the show we were there to see.

I have always been a big fan of Yoshi's S.F. but things seemed to have changed. Atmosphere still great, but food was not that great. Our chicken was dry and it was served with some dry tasting cheese grits (WTH). We chose this because there were on 5 entrees to choose from. We did enjoy the kale salad and sushi but that's about it. I remember the menu being much more extensive. I wonder has the menu changed in Oakland also? To be so expensive, I'm scared to try. Next time we will eat before we go to a show.

We found outstanding service in accommodating a special needs food wise. However, the chicken was over cooked. The rest of the meal was excellent. I was closer to the neighboring guest than to my date which spoiled any intimacy and it was loud. I could hear other guest conversations, they were having to be really loud which drowned out our conversation. Our table was rocking due to unevenness in the floor bent table leg. Other than those items, we enjoyed a very rare night out.

Food is good, but not special for an SF eatery specializing in Asian cuisine. Good Sake list and moderately priced. Booking early dinner helps as things get hectic and the wait staff can get overwhelmed and forget things. Table next to us started later and had a few orders mixed up and not delivered with their dining partner's main course. In the music venue, one must choose their table well and be familiar with the seating. As a mature couple we do not like to sit on the high bar stools chairs. Tables with conventional chairs are tightly arranged so that can be a little uncomfortable. Lighting and sound system worked well and the Keiko Matsui group were outstanding to hear and watch.
