The hostesses jumped out at us to say welcome to Yolo and were so friendly. It didnt stop there we had a server Susan that was so friendly and helpful with the menu. We would go back just for her. Everything was great. The jumbo lump crab cakes were delicious and perhaps the best we've ever had. The 18oz bone in ribeye was prepared perfectly to our order. We will return on our next trip to Ft Lauderdale.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI don't get up to Fort LauderdaleI don't get up to Fort Lauderdale much but I am glad I did this time.I pulled up to YOLO and after being greeted by the valet my wife and I walked up to the restaurant and admired the warm glow of the fire pit and the tall bamboo that lined the patio.A friendly smile from the hostess welcomed us and we were brought to a nice booth.Our server greeted us and she offered us a drink and recommended a few appetizers. We opted for the calamari and came out in a few minutes. It was a fried calamari tossed in a sweet chili sauce. We both enjoyed it very much. I ordered the Manhattan steak with mushrooms and onions and my wife had the crab cakes. Both were excellent. I said to the hostest that if I could not be seated that I would never come to the restaurant again. It made no difference to her. I have eaten at YOLO many times and have enjoyed it but the new policy of refusing to seat guests until the entire party is present will cause me to never again go to YOLO. Honorable mentions are the daily soups, the mojo pork sandwich, the garden burger, the fish tacos, the chopped salad. Other than the veggie stir fry, I haven't had anything that I did not like. The ambience and service is excellent - it's a vibrant scene during lunch, dinner and happy hour. They have an outdoor firepit for those chilly FL nights and they even have a "s'mores" night when they give you the fixins to make them by the fire! Fantastic! From being greeted at the front door at the start to the valet parking attendant at the end, the service was 1st class. We had gone to quiet restaurants the whole time we were in Ft. Lauderdale and were looking for something more lively and fun. There were a lot of people, very energetic and fun. We had the truffle chips and artichokes for appetizers, the fish special and filet mignon for entrees and the ice cream sandwiches as dessert, all with a bottle of wine our server recommended to us.
