A word from Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse
The Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse is legendary for its extensive wild game selection, and many of those same animals roam freely over our 48,000 acre ranch and namesake near Kerrville, Texas.

For those in the mood to try something out of the ordinary, the Y.O. offers venison, game birds and our signature dish, the buffalo filet mignon.

The beef at the Y.O. is U.S.D.A. Prime and is hand-cut in house. We employ a method very similar to the one the ranch hands have been using for more than 125 years.

The Y.O Steakhouse private dining, bar and banquet facilities can accommodate parties from 20-300 for business or pleasure, day or night. Your guests will experience a uniquely Texan and memorable dining experience combined with the highest quality food and service available.

Diner Reviews
  • "Top quality food, great wine list and selection of draught beers, plus impeccable service. What more can you ask for?"

  • "Elk and buffalo were excellent, tender and tasty. Tabasco goat cheese grits make a good blend of flavors"

  • "My lukewarm review is probably my own fault, but it is what it is. We were in town for the Final Four basketball tournament. I made reservations a month in advance, so I was really looking forward to my meal. The restaurant was packed. I ordered the 8 oz. prime filet and my husband ordered the prime NY strip. After the first bite, I should have said something. If my steak was a filet, then it was the toughest filet I've ever had. It looked and tasted like a top sirloin. My husband enjoyed his NY strip, though. Our waiter was young and enthusiastic although he did not take the time to go over the menu as did the waiter at the table next to ours. I'd give the YO Ranch another try, though."

  • "Food & service excellent, one in our party had steak & fried lobster so good. Macaroni & cheese best we ever had. I had smoked baked potato loved the smoky flavor. Server excellent very knowledgeable. Appreciated manager coming over thanking us for dining with them."

  • "This was a great find. Te steak was amazing and you simply must try the Gouda Mac and cheese. Creamy but light? Great service and just a delicious night."

  • "YO Ranch really shines for people who are looking for creative uses of game in Dallas. The traditional beef is great at YO, but if you love food, you are really shorting yourself by passing on the elk or other game animals on the menu (depending on the season.)"

  • "You can't go wrong with YO Ranch Steakhouse. The food is always fresh, flavorful and fantastic. The service is impeccable - one of the area's best. If you like to try new things, the restaurant won't disappoint. Options such as venison and elk will keep your adventurous side happy, while the bison filet and cowboy bone-in ribeye will satisfy your steak cravings. And, leave room for dessert! Scrumptious!"

  • "Both my partner and I had the buffalo steak & it was spectacular. They were cooked perfectly to our liking and the smoked potato, Gouda Mac & cheese and venison appetizer did not disappoint in the least. This is a gem of a find."

  • "I loved the menu variety on this menu but went for the steak. Will have the wild game next time. Presentation was excellent and sides were delicious."

  • "The food was absolutely outstanding!! Our waitress was extremely friendly and helped us make delicious choices for dinner and dessert. We could not have been happier with our experience!!"

  • "I visited the YO for lunch with a family member . The menu offered a great variety of dishes. we started with the crab cakes. They were standard and not anything that is out of the normal.Good but the best are at the Silver Fox. My guest had a steak salad and I had the pistachio crusted chicken. The chicken was excellent, The steak salad was ample with great beef on the salad.A server came around with complementary banana pudding after the meal. The meal was great and as a true foodie i was happy with this choice. I would recommend the YO for a romantic dinner or a great lunch. The reservation system was easy and I will use it again too."

  • "I really loved this place and plan to take my father here when he visits. This steakhouse had a subtle romantic vibe with dim lighting, but wasn't fancy by any means. There were gentlemen wearing ball caps for example. The Venison roll ups were divine and my ribeye was delicious. My boyfriend had their signature buffalo fillet and he loved it. They do game meats very well! We went on a friday night and it wasn't packed, but there were some large tables which contributed to the slower service. Our waiter did not realize that a new table had been seated and there were times when our waiter was not on the floor for prolonged periods of time, but we did not want for anything so it was not a big deal at all."

  • "We were in town for business and ended up eating Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse twice as it was that good. Both nights the service was top notch. The wine was great, the buffalo steak melted in your mouth like a good stake should, and the appetizers were great. The second night we had deserts and they were great. They are made from scratch each night. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any kind of night."

  • "Great steaks... 2 Filets and 1 New York Strip! Sides large enough to share... Wedge salad very fresh with tasty blue cheese dressing. Service was spot on... Attentive, but not intrusive. Highly recommend."

  • "We had a fantastic meal. The mixed grill was outstanding and the complimenting wine list is extensive and a good selection. The service by our waiter Anthony was great. Overall a lovely experience for a couple fof Aussies visiting Dallas."

  • "Food was very good, the waiter was fairly good price to value was in line atmosphere was a miss, wanted a more warm Texas high end ranch, but was cold and just off the mark."

  • "Not too many places you can get chicken fried lobster or elk tenderloin! Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse is a great place to entertain out of town guest or for a very special occasion. We are looking forward to returning again."

  • "I have eaten at several DFW steakhouses: Silver Fox, Bob's, Cool River, J.R.'s. There is nothing that touches J.R.'s in Colleyville. However, YO Ranch is very much 1B in the ranking. Bob's and the rest CANNOT get close on taste. The atmosphere is much more laid back than a J.R.'s formal setting. A few guys had ball caps on. The food, though...My wife and I can't stop talking about how great it was. She got the petite filet and baked potato. We share the gouda macaroni. EXCELLENT! I got the buffalo filet and chicken fried lobster. You read that right. My side was mashed potatoes. I could not decide what should be the last bite. Bottom line: If there is better Texas-style, prime level food in North Texas, I have not found it. Go!"

  • "This is more of a chop house than a steak house. Food was allright, but overpriced for the quality. Do not recommend the margaritas. Extremely sweet mix straight from a bottle. The previous night spent less on a better quality steak meal from a Hotel Steakhouse down the street."

  • "This was our second time to dine at the Y.O. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a great steak. The online reservation process was easy and they had our table waiting when we arrived. Wonderful experience."

  • "Three of us moms from Louisiana were in for the NCA Cheer Nationals. A man overheard us at our hotel talking about places to go out to dinner that night, and he told us about Y O Seakhouse. He had just tried it the night before and really liked it alot and said the meat selection was fabulous. I am glad we decided to try it. It was certainly delightful, and we were not disapointed. Great place to eat!!!"

  • "Please note the smoked baked potato ends up with a thick, dry skin. These were not served hot either. Do I was disappointed. The wedge salad was perfectly delicious. And the steaks, although very good, were little more cooked than requested."

  • "One of the worst experiences ever. Selected Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse for guests from Germany and China to show them a bit of Texas. Our guest ordered a bottle of wine. It did not match the vintage year on the wine list. The second selection did not match the vintage year on the wine list. The third matched the wine list. The service was slow and awkward. The manager said that "they" change the wine faster than they can print a new one. We have never had that happen once much less twice. We ordered dessert. The server returned to announce that the Apple Crisp just came out of the oven and it was to dry to eat. I wish I could say the experience was NOT memorable. My problem is that it was and this is the lasting impression made with my guests."

  • "Just because YO is a steak house doesn't mean you can't get a great healthy salad for lunch. And the service is personal and professional."

  • "My husband an d I celebrated our 25th and chose this place for our special dinner. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. We dined early so it was very quiet and romantic for us. Would recommend this place to all my buddies!"

  • "We highly recommend the Buffalo filet that was noted on the Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. It was delicious! Our server Amanda was awesome too!"

  • "We ended up with a mix of good food and casual dining experience. The food is to nice for the ambience. Presentation was 2.5 out of 5. Servers were understaffed... I would recommend the Tamarindo Margarita it has a surgery sweet taste with a salty chili lime surprise. Oysters were a bit on the bland side, but the venison wraps were recommendable. Lobster mac was a bit bland.. a bit of truffle and it would be a powerhouse appetizer. All of the meats were cooked to perfection. Lamb, axis venison, bison, and quail. The quail was bland but moist. The meal wrapped up with pecan pie and chocolate molten cake with vanilla ice cream. Both desserts were good but nothing to write home about."

  • "Great location if you are visiting the area. Though there are many steakhouses in the immediate area, I'm glad we chose Y.O. Wild Game is a fantastic treat and rarely offered in the variety that they have presented. All sides were perfectly portioned and seasoned well. Every plate that was delivered to each customer made me wish I had the appetite of an Olympic Athlete. Try a little bit of everything and share! Service was prompt, professional and not too in your face nor distant. Much loved the flavored and experience."

  • "This is a nice place for someone who is looking for a unique experience. Unlike most higher end steak houses this one has a much more of a mid tier feel. Its western style and decor make you feel more like your in ranch house than a high end steakhouse. The food includes exotic cuisine, elk, deer, buffalo, quail in addition to beef and if thats what your looking for its a solid choice. If you want a more high end feel for the money then I would not recommend them. The wine list was fair at best. I had a New York strip and would rate is as a bit below average. The service was excellent and I give them a big thumbs up for that aspect of the evening! Nice but not great!"

  • "We are never disappointed when we select to dine at the Y O Ranch Steakhouse. The service is attentive, the atmosphere laid back and not overly loud (allowing dinner conversation to occur without shouting) and of course the food is excellent! This New Years Eve we elected to dine out at the Y 0 Ranch and the dinner specials were excellent. I had the Roasted Duck, so moist and tasty. My companion had a huge Prime Rib cut. Our only disappointment was the dessert. We shared a piece of chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. The taste was okay but the cake was dry and crusty on the bottom. Overall a great dinner in one our favorite restaurants in Dallas."
