A word from Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse
The Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse is legendary for its extensive wild game selection, and many of those same animals roam freely over our 48,000 acre ranch and namesake near Kerrville, Texas.

For those in the mood to try something out of the ordinary, the Y.O. offers venison, elk, wild boar, game birds, and our signature dish, the buffalo filet mignon.

Most of the beef at the Y.O. is local Texas Black Angus beef and hand cut in house. We employ a method very similar to the one the ranch hands have been using for more than 125 years.

The Y.O Steakhouse private dining, bar and banquet facilities can accommodate parties from 20-300 for business or pleasure, day or night. Your guests will experience a uniquely Texan and memorable dining experience combined with the highest quality food and service available.

This is a cute Steak house but definitely not a high end steak house experience, more like a notch abouve Texas Roadhouse. Food and service were good.

All staff was very pleasant and accommodating, although service was quite subpar. The waiter forgot to bring cocktails and never returned after serving the dishes to inquire how they were or to clear them from the table when we were done. The hostess and manager had to come to clear them. Asked for some cookies for dessert and I was brought Oreos still in the original packaging--how weird. The food, although inventive, was not properly cooked. The steaks were underdone. Don't see the need to go back once you've been there.

I wanted a location for a business lunch with clients from another culture. Excellent choice. Food was very good. Meals were prepared to everyone's specifications. As our guests told us, across the world, just about everyone loves steak. Table location and waitress attentiveness was very good but not intrusive. Appreciated the service. Banana pudding was loved by everyone. Hope to go back some day.

The food was amazing. Bottom line. My husband had the wild game platter and I had ribeye. We also had a side of fingerling potatoes. I grew up on a farm, and live on a cattle ranch now and we always have farm fresh meat in our freezer and pride our area for amazing beef. But this steak, clear across the country from where we live, was unmatched. Perfectly cooked. The wine was wonderful and the waitstaff was knowledgeable and friendly. This is a must!

Sam was our server and he was helpful, friendly, and very professional. He recommended the Buffalo Filet which my husband ordered. I ordered the petite filet. Both steaks were cooked to perfection. The sides were also wonderful and the rattlesnake chili app was fun and delicious. We were too stuffed for dessert. Overall a great experience, thank you!

We were in town for business event and decided to venture out from hotel for dinner. OpenTable showed this place had a decent rating and decided to book it. Everything was fine, restaurant seemed clean, staff attention was acceptable, however food quality for an a-la-cart steakhouse was way below my bar. I had a 8oz filet and while it was cooked to Medium-Rare as requested, the flavor was on-par with nationwide chain restaurants (not to be named). Did not want to go through the compliant hassle since we were all jet lagged, on an expense account, and likely would never cross paths again with restaurant; knowing at best it was a free meal.

Went for a birthday dinner and it was great. We love wild game and they have so many options to choose from. The lamb ribs (you hardly ever see the ribs of lamb on any regular menu) and buffalo filet mignon were our favorites. We overstuffed ourselves in order to try all the different kinds of wild game and we'll definitely be back.

Great evening of food and service. I made reservations via Open Table for 12, and we were seated immediately upon arrival, even though only half of us made it on time. Sam and Sean were are servers and they were excellent. Their food recommendations....especially the Buffalo Filet Mignon and the Chicken Fried Lobster, were spot on. Portions were good, and the drinks had ample "kick". We will definitely return.

A must eat is the tomahawk on the bone, it was amazing & is carved in front of you on the table. It is for 2 people & at $100 is a fair price to pay for such an amazing piece of beef. A lovely ambience, great place to go for a peaceful meal.

The food was good but not special. The steak and lobster dishes were quite good. The roasted chicken was not special. The chili was ok. The deserts were good but not as good as we expected. The chocolate cake was just a cupcake with a half scoop of ice cream and not what I was expecting. The pecan pie was not traditional and didn't really remind me of pecan pie. The lemon cheesecake, likewise, was really just classic cheesecake with a lemon garnish.

There's not enough room in this text box to describe the poor service we received from our waiter, Dave. He was so inattentive to the point I had to order my own drink from the bar and the bartender had to pick up his slack. The food on the other hand was outstanding. From the Shrimp and Grits appetizer, to the Shrimp Risotto and Buffalo Filet Mignon entrees, the food was great. One low point was the tomato salad...I wouldn't recommend this for the $11 price tag. I would highly recommend Y.O. for takeout. If you plan on dining at the restaurant and Dave presents himself as your waiter, move to the bar!

We had a large business dinner here, for my second visit. The food was stellar. I had the smoked filet -- a really excellent piece of meat. Very favorably, and a cut above the national-class steakhouses. Several colleagues enjoyed their rattlesnake chile. One colleague ordered a mojito upon the recommendation of someone at a nearby table who said it was the best he's ever had. My colleague agreed.

While the food was good, I was totally surprised by the outstanding reviews! The prices were steep & the service was average at best. For the price, I would have expected a little more...I don't know...oomph. The menu has variety but one thing is for sure...they're VERY proud of their food. The venison roll-ups were amazing, as was the buffalo filet. Split a side dish, as the portions are too big for one person (don't get the garlic fingerling potatoes, as they were overdone and boring...however, the mac & cheese was yummy!). While the food was good, it wasn't so spectacular that Y-O would land on my "must eat" list in Dallas.

We took our 20 month old for an early dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday. The food was great, but what impressed me more was the preparation for a toddler. The menu was much more extensive than grilled cheese. His shrimp dinner was brought out with the appetizers, preventing him from getting bored or hungry. His food was just as high of quality as ours (we might have even stolen a shrimp). They even brought him Oreo cookies at the end while we enjoyed our custard. My husband and I were able to enjoy a nice dinner out along with the toddler.

Food was excellent but in the back section, I thought the tables were rather close to other parties especially the party for 2 tables. Couldn't really feel comfortable having a semi private conversation. Also for the type of food, I was not a fan of the atmosphere. It was shabby to me... But I'm not a true Texan either.

I had ribeye as my entree and it was cooked perfectly and seasoned nicely. A member of our group had the salmon and she said it said outstanding. The apple tart for desert was enough for the 4 of us, but we all had our on, not knowing how large it was going to be. They have lots of game meat, ie. buffalo, venison, quail.
