A word from Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse
The Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse is legendary for its extensive wild game selection, and many of those same animals roam freely over our 48,000 acre ranch and namesake near Kerrville, Texas.

For those in the mood to try something out of the ordinary, the Y.O. offers venison, game birds and our signature dish, the buffalo filet mignon.

The beef at the Y.O. is U.S.D.A. Prime and is hand-cut in house. We employ a method very similar to the one the ranch hands have been using for more than 125 years.

The Y.O Steakhouse private dining, bar and banquet facilities can accommodate parties from 20-300 for business or pleasure, day or night. Your guests will experience a uniquely Texan and memorable dining experience combined with the highest quality food and service available.

  • "Ordered the 8oz filet, medium. It came raw. They took it back and cooked it longer. So, the result was a filet that was unevenly cooked, still raw in some areas and well done in others. I have never seen a high end steak restaurant re-cook the same piece of meat after it's been cut through. Would not recommend this place at all. One note, they did take 1/2 off the price of the filet which was nice because I ate less than half, but they should have take the entire price off the bill."

  • "Very disappointed! We had five in our party. The waitress came to our table with TWO menus. "We have a party of 30 - let me see if I can get some menus from them". Service was very spotty - at times we didn't see her for over 30 minutes. Food was OK. I had the beef filet - it was dry and lacked flavor. (Outback's steaks are better!) The only bright spot - the macaroni & cheese! We will not return."

  • "There were four of us and we each ordered steaks....filet and sirloin of various weights. They were all cooked perfectly as ordered and were delicious. The entrée came with a few green beans, waffled carrots, and a purple potato; more than enough for a small appetite. The side dishes served two easily, maybe three, depending on the selection. Desserts were a large portion and good flavor. Our waiter was prompt and attentive. Priced a little high, but worth it."

This place was rocking with casual downtown lunch goers and large groups. Our meal was a bit late, but the manager picked up our drink tab! Great place, excellent food -- all good local Texas cuisine -- and super attentive staff."

  • "For appetizers we had the fried oysters and the venison rollups. They were both very enjoyable. We split a wedge salad. It was a typical wedge salad, but the blue cheese dressing was exceptional. I used a roll to sop it all up. For our entrees we had the buffalo filet mignon and the elk tenderloin - medium rare on both. They were both very good, but I thought the elk was the better of the two. Like most good tenderloin, the elk tenderloin was melt-in-your-mouth tender with a delicious blackberry reduction sauce to complement it. The buffalo filet was good, but I'm not sure it lived up to all the hype. Maybe my expectations were too high. The portobello mushroom side was good, as was the apple tart that we had for dessert."

  • "After seeing YO Ranch in Texas hill country, I looked forward to eating here. Typical West End tourist trap that is over priced (steaks are north of $40 and sides extra), but not that good. Pieces were grisly, mine was undercooked to rare. Service was decent and decor is interesting, but to me its about the meat. Can do so much better in Dallas, but need to get out of the West End. I don't understand all the positive reviews. Must be tourists. "

  • "While on vacation in the DFW area, I wanted to experience the famous steakhouse scene. I chose Y.O. after reading several reviews on open table's website. The waiter was very informative about the different foods and up front about the prices. I would not call Y.O. kid friendly per se. The food was outstanding for the price, I was fully expecting to pay closer to $100/plate but our entire bill was under $100. I plan on making another visit the next time we are in the DFW area."

I am a vegetarian and appreciated that they had lots of great sides and salad options for vegetarians. The gouda mac and cheese was amazing as was the smoked baked potato. My finacee said the steak was one of the best he has ever had and it just melted in his mouth. We will definitely go back if we are in the area again."

  • "I selected Y.O. Ranch because it seemed somewhat more affordable than most other, non-chain steakhouses. The menu is quite varied and includes game meats (venison, bison, elk, etc.) that others don't. It was a quiet Sunday evening, so it wasn't loud and lively, but that made it good for our conversation level. Try the jalapeno venison wraps, or the elk tenderloin, for some non-traditional fare. The beef filet, NY strip and other meats are also outstanding. One big disappointment: The restaurant had run out of the Jack Daniels Pecan Pie. We ended up splitting a chocolate cake and ice cream, and the restaurant gave us a complimentary bourbon pie that they made sure to tell us was not what they normally serve. Overall, a good experience."

  • "My lukewarm review is probably my own fault, but it is what it is. We were in town for the Final Four basketball tournament. I made reservations a month in advance, so I was really looking forward to my meal. The restaurant was packed. I ordered the 8 oz. prime filet and my husband ordered the prime NY strip. After the first bite, I should have said something. If my steak was a filet, then it was the toughest filet I've ever had. It looked and tasted like a top sirloin. My husband enjoyed his NY strip, though. Our waiter was young and enthusiastic although he did not take the time to go over the menu as did the waiter at the table next to ours. I'd give the YO Ranch another try, though."
