YEW seafood + barService was very attentive.Love the extras. The chocolate and the power cookies were both a big treat.12/4/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed a very good meal withEnjoyed a very good meal with excellent service during a recent business trip to Vancouver. Our waiter recommended an excellent wine to go with our seafood (pasta with crab). The dessert presentation was fabulous and the choice went well with the after-dinner Port we ordered.12/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was delicious withThe food was delicious with innovative touches and the service was friendly and efficient. The ambiance was typical of hotel dining rooms and with no exterior windows you felt you could have been just about any where.10/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFather's Day LuncheonIt's nice that there's a restaurant out there that maintains excellent food and service on a busy occasion. I for one don't prefer celebrating on the day of because of the "extra" the restaurant charges. But will gladly pay extra for Yew as the food is just as good on any day. Though, I was not too impressed by the macarons. I loved everything else. Service is excellent as usual. They were also nice enough to accommodate our fruit request for the kiddos. Our son loves watermelon and our daughter loves berries.6/16/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner at the YewThe food, service and overall experience was great. It was my boyfriend's birthday and there were 3 of us.
My only issue was with the amount of chips given for our meal. We had the seafood tower for four. We had to ask for extra chips 3 times. There were a lot more dips than there were chips. When we asked for them the third time around, the waitress said she would ask the kitchen but that they may have to charge us. There were maybe 8 to 10 tortilla chips offered at a time. For three people it wasn't enough, so I can't imagine four people being able to get by on that amount. My suggestion is more tortilla chips for the towers. They're the cheapest part of the meal.
Other than that, everything was great. The salmon biscuits were delicious.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMCould not have been betterThe service was very personal. The manager phoned me prior to my arrival to ensure that the flowers would be at the restaurant before I arrived with my guest.
The hostesses were courteous, friendly, helpful.
The wait staff provided outstanding attention and knowledge.
The food was beyond good. It was fresh, extremely well presented, delicious and unique.
Although not inexpensive the prices were reasonable for the quality and service we received.
I will return to this restaurant again.
My evening was absolutely delightful.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMService bar noneThe service was exceptional. The hospitality was first class from all the hosts, servers in the bar and restaurant. It is about the full experience which the Yew delivered.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMTypical open kitchen, highTypical open kitchen, high ceiling bar , restaurant combo found in hotels. Made more comfortable by a divider, fireplace , between bar and restaurant but still noisy..
Dishes unique and excellent, some never seen before. Good service. This was our first visit and we were very pleased with the choice. We will return.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMVegan DinnerI frequent Yew as their food, service and atmosphere are consistently very good. My better half, a strict vegetarian on their way to veganism, had their birthday over the week-end and with Yew having a dedicated vegan menu it was an obvious choice. The food was, as expected, very good. My only complaint is that the server, after discussing options on the vegan menu with us, served the table salmon bread. It was not visually obviously at first glance that the bread contained salmon, and luckily I took the first bite. It would have been very unfortunate if my better half had bitten in first. Yew remains one of my favourite restaurants and I will continue to dine there - I just caution those vegetarians and vegans to watch the bread.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMDate Night At Its FinestFrom beginning to end the service was flawless and the execution was first class. We can always count on Yew to host a fabulous date night that leaves no detail overlooked and no request unfulfilled.
P.S. Their Moscow Mule is Epic!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVegan Food servedWe accidentally discovered that YEW has a vegan menu. YEW satisfies those who are longing for a fine dining experience rather than the back to the earth sprouts and veggie scene that most vegan restaurants provide. The restaurant has a modern design and features an open kitchen. No table cloths but the food is beautifully presented, portions are generous and the taste is great. Our server, Hamib, was friendly and knowledgeable about wine, vegan food and life in general; he made us feel welcome. Prices are reasonable for a fine dining restaurant that is located in a very upscale hotel (4 Seasons); our bill was less than $200 even though we had cocktails, a bottle of wine, 2 entrees and 2 main courses. I would definitely come back to YEW.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent!I came here for my birthday dinner with my sisters and it was probably the best dining experience I've ever had. I ordered the asparagus appetizer and the cashew cream pasta and they were both delicious - and vegan! For dessert, I had the tiramisu trifle which was soo good. The ambience and service was outstanding and I would definitely go back. As a bonus, the chef gave us free samples of the risotto as appetizers and for dessert, we received complimentary chocolate and cookies! The complimentary thyme & sea salt and salmon biscuits were also amazingly good. For the service, ambience, and food, this restaurant is good value. Not to mention I like to support farm to table restaurants that ethically source their food.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food!Great Service, Exellent food, Wonderful aptmosphere5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSeafoodToo many try and fail with seafood. These folks have got everything right with seafood and otherwise.
Great presentation, perfectly cooked and very nice service, what more could you want?5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAn outstanding experienceFour of us had a wonderful meal at Yew. The restaurant was busy but the food and service was first class. We all had a variet of seafood oriented menu items for both starters and main courses. They were each of very high quality. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable, about both the wine list and food. Our two guests were visitors from Calgary and left feeling they had experienced one of the finest restaurants in Vancouver.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA delightful dinnerStarted with the bartender making magic in a glass and then had wonderful seafood complimented by a white wine recommended by our very thoughtful waiter. A wonderful time!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat vegan optionsMy partner is a fairly new vegan/vegetarian and we're always on the lookout for great restaurants where we can both get a meal we like. He had the veggies tacos and the cashew pasta - he loved them both. The pasta sauce was creamy, rich and included mushrooms. You can only find this option on the vegan menu (you need to ask for it) - it's so good that even if one wasn't a vegan it would still be a winner. I had the tuna salad, essentially a salad nicoise, which was also really good. I don't know what they do to the egg but it was perfect. The service was impeccable and the decor reminded me of the restaurants in NY - spacious, high ceilings. We enjoyed it very much and will be back.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous Brunch: great food,Fabulous Brunch: great food, great service, and half-price champagne- what more could you ask for.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot prawnsI went for lunch with a friend to sample spot prawns. Unfortunately they weren't available on the lunch menu (note to self - check menu beforehand). However our server went the extra mile and checked if the kitchen could substitute one of the items on the menu. Success! Instead of salmon with kale we enjoyed spot prawns with kale.
Nice touch is wine list on iPad. Tantalus Riesling worked perfectly with the meal.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner on Mother's DayGreat food at Yew. Love the kid's menu and the fruit plate before dinner!
Missing cutlery on the table was a turn-off for a high-class restaurant.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMonly complaintI would have rated the food five star except the prawns were terrible. We had the four so I tried two just to be sure.
They were soft and chalky. We eat prawns frequently both at home and out so I feel I do know what they should taste like.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMKids did gr8 w/twix n colorsKids did gr8 w/twix n colors provided. My first time seeing the twisty craylo crayons.
Hostess inadvertently thought I was with the couple behind us. I wasn't too pleased cos it almost felt as tho she had ignored me n started serving 'em.
Dressing for my Cobster's a bit too acidic 4 me, but might just be my own personal taste. Tho, I did have to share all my avocado w/ my girl. Perhaps would've tasted better if I had avocado w/the butter lettuce. Decent piece of lobster I must say.
The kid's pasta with alfredo sauce was delish, not too crazy bout the pizza dough. Love all the added fruit appy n dessert. Chocolate warm cake's PERFECT. Complimentary donuts were soso. Try Outpost mini donuts in Steveston and u'll know why.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMname tagsPlease please let your servers wear name tags. When they don't wear them and I can't address them by name I feel like I am treating them like faceless nameless unimportant serfs.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
