  • "We celebrated our 33rd anniversary dinner at Yew. It was wonderful! Our first drinks were complimentary and after dinner we were presented with a big plate that read "Happy 33rd Anniversary" in chocolate, plus other chocolates on the plate. The Kale Salad was very good and the Lobster Meatballs delicious. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was splendid! Our server was pleasant and kind. The Yew is a great place to eat!"

  • "I went here for my dad's birthday. Thankfully, the waitress warned me about $3/plating fee to serve a cake I was going to bring so I ended up not bringing it. They sat us in the back where the long table was facing the wine towers which was great. Our server, Ian, provided excellent customer service with his description of food and punny jokes. We werent going to get dessert, but the way he made us visualize popcorn ice cream made us go for it. My family had a great time and I would definitely go again!"

  • "The barter tender was awesome and very attentive. However, that was not the case with my server. I was largely ignored and forgotten about. I really wanted to try the dungeness crab salad, but by the time he actually got to me it was 'sold out a 2 minutes ago' Perhaps, I would have gotten it had I been paid attention to sooner. The food I order was prepared perfectly and was very delicious. I wanted to try dessert but in all honesty, did not feel like risking waiting 30-40 mins for it. Strangely enough, people around me seemed to be getting free appies and desserts and I did not even get the customary chocolate fish and cookie. Would I go back? Yes, though may not any time soon, or maybe try a different time of day."

  • "The seafood tower for two was not what I would call a tower, it was more of a platter, and they were out of oysters which made me sad. The seafood however was incredibly fresh and delicious. The raw scallops and tuna were to die for, I can still reflect on the taste days later, it was memorable. The service was good, the prices were a bit steep, but not surprising given the location in the Four Seasons. The atmosphere did not feel like you were in a hotel though which was a nice surprise."

I just love how they make an effort taking care of the little ones: from crayons, toy, to cups and utensils.. and even the kids' meals are health conscious too: 7 grain rice mix! How I wish there were a restaurant like Yew when we travel with our son to other cities!"

  • "This was a nice find, as we entered I was disappointed with the table layout, (it is the only thing we did not care for). The service was excellent " Hameed and Robert were on top of their game. On a scale of 1-5 they both were 6's. We ordered the seafood appetizer for 2, when It arrived it was perfect, on a scale of 1-5 we give it a 5 ( we will be back for this again). When our main's came we were actually to full from our starter, I choose the steak and lobster and my husband tried the mussels in chorizo on a scale of 1-5 my husband rated it an 2.5. My steak was prepared perfectly, the meat was excellent and lobster good, but it was a little small, on a scale of 1-5 this was a 4. We will be back!"

  • "A Thursday night and the place was hopping. The old 4Seasons Garden Lounge is long gone but this space continues to be a hot spot for Vancouverites. Chef Ned Bell has put together a staggering menus of fresh seafood and delicious taste treats (including seperate and equally impressive vegan menus :) together with well trained and unpretentious staff this was a wonderful evening. Our server went to great lengths to pair the perfect wine for a shaved cauliflower/truffle salad followed by a creamy vegan pasta and earthy mushroom dish. He nailed it. One dessert is offered on the vegan dinner menu, it was a little ho-hum after the entrees but was chocolate lol so how can you loose."

  • "Made a reso via OpenTable for a colleague's retirement lunch, made comment of that in reservation, and they set us up in this beautiful class surrounded private room, which let us see everything and everyone around us but also gave us privacy. The food was average, not exceptional. But the service and ambiance was bar none. I gave the overall rating as very good because of the average food, which for the price, I would have liked to have more "wow" factor. My colleague loved the mixology of drinks though, very creative and definitely had a "hit" of alcohol in each drink. Would definitely go back, especially for business functions and special occasions."

Modern decor with a warm feel and an open kitchen gave the room a dynamic but friendly atmosphere. The fresh seafood dishes were cooked as precisely as they could have been. If I try to think of a criticism, I get trapped into remembering all the vibrant flavours, and I want ot go back for more."

  • "This was our third dining experience at Yew...each with a different situation. First, with a large group for a pre-wedding luncheon. Service was very attentive and efficient. Everyone...from 18 months old to 85 years old thoroughly enjoyed their tasty meals. The lobster macaroni was especially delicious. Second, with my wife, for a quick meal before the symphony. We were running late and the service could not have been more spot on. It was like we were the only patrons there and they were catering to us. Third, with my wife and 89 year old mother-in-law, again on our way to the symphony with a lot of extra time. Dinner was superb! The filet and lobster was delicious and the biscuits are so scrumptious we asked for refills!"

  • "My parents celebrated their 30th Wedding Anniversary here, and they found the experience quite enjoyable! They were seated somewhere a bit more private as requested, and they thoroughly enjoyed the food. The taste and quality of the food is outstanding, as are the more than ample portions. The ambiance is modern yet warm and romantic, and the service is top-notch. However, the waiter did get the dessert they ordered wrong, though it was nice that the chef put "Happy 30th Anniversary" on it. The wrong dessert was also more expensive than the one they had ordered, so it would have been great if the restaurant had comped it, given the caliber of this restaurant, and the milestone of this occasion. However, my parents had a great time overall."

  • "We always use the Yew restaurant for our annual holiday lunch with my mom and my sister. Its a tradition for the girls to wander the mall at Pacific Centre and then view the beautiful trees within the lobby of the Four Seasons. Topped off with a wonderful lunch at the Yew! We have been doing this for years, so long, that the waiter seems to always be the same gentleman whom serves us so well. :) Thank you for making our tradition something we look forward each and every year. Mom is now 89 years old and would not miss this for the world!"

  • "We spend every Christmas at the Georgia across from the Four Seasons, where the Yew is located. The ambiance is casual but the food is incredible. Oysters galore, and the seafood cobb and the crab salad is to die for. It is a great place to bring the 12 and 16 year old yet still enjoy adult food. We were especially impressed when we told our waiter that our youngest had autism, and that this was his favourite restaurant. We informed the waiter that we were trying to get him to order his own food (with manners). Although busy he patiently waited until my son was able to get the words out and praised him for his excellent manners. He was worth his weight in gold."

They accommodated the dietary special needs of one of the diners with us very professionally and courteously. The over all service was impeccable!   • "I regularly (at minimum once/month) eat lunch at Yew but after my recent lunch I will likely take a break from eating there after the mediocre experience. Service was not very good with the server being not being attentive to take our order for drinks and then lunch again. I can recognize that it was a busy day but it really wasn't busier than any other Friday. Additionally I had ordered the steak & requested a medium and it was no where near that, at best it was raw but due time restraints i did not bother sending it back. I very much enjoy the ambience of Yew and normally the experience is great but I was really disappointed from most recent dining. I will give it a try someday again in the future but I will not be back for a while,"

The wait-staff are friendly and very helpful with the wine list. Yew's seafood benny is to die for and I order this almost every time. Yew is a very relaxed restaurant. You are never rushed. My favourite spot in Vancouver."

  • "Our dishes were interesting and well presented. We mentioned we would be sharing and our entrees were all split and plated separately. Since my wife can't drink alcohol she asked for hot water and was given a pot with tea service crockery. Classy service. And her birthday was not forgotten, her dessert was plated and candled and surprised her and made her happy. Waitstaff were friendly, knowledgeable and prompt despite busy Saturday night. We enjoyed our food and the whole experience. Crab tacos, Arctic char, paella, Apple pie yum."

  • "This is a very pretty restaurant, in the 4 Seasons Hotel, smack dab in the middle of the city. Not the most exciting inasmuch as it can't escape its hotel setting, but very pretty. The food is excellent, oysters from the seafood tower (actually a platter) very fresh, and the other items equally fresh and interesting. Sundays and Mondays their wines are half price which makes its otherwise moderately high prices reasonable. The service was fun and very professional."

To my disappointment, they replaced the Caesar salad with Arugula salad, and now topped the Fried Chicken with black and white sesame seeds. Not sure if this was just a change for Chinese New Year or if this was a permanent change, but I have to say I really enjoyed their original Fried Chicken special."
