What a great night! We had the tasting menu, each dish was a unique combination of flavors and and mix if ingredients. The waiter was knowledgeable and very professional. Best service I have had in Calgary in a long time. Pricing was in line with the quality and preparation of the food. Good wine list. We will most definitely be returning

I chose the Yellow Door restaurant to take a friend for dinner who was visiting from abroad. I was looking for something a bit unique with a relaxed and sophisticated flare, and Yellow Door appeared to fit the bill perfectly. The staff were extremely accommodating, and took pains to ensure we had a good table. Some of the tables are a bit close together, so make sure you request a table off to the side if you're looking for a more private conversation. The servers were friendly and engaging without being obtrusive. I thought the food was quite solid and good value. A very positive experience and would definitely return.

We went to the yellow door for our wedding anniversary, our son and his fiancé had recommended it by way of a love gift card. The menu provided good information on the appetizers, salads and entrees, it was easy for me to make a decision on what to have. The food came beautifully presented, tasted great and the wine was perfect. Of note is the Chef's surprise meal, which we didn't have but would probably test it out the next time we go.

We were 30 minutes late (called to let them know, but still…); they were so great about it! Seated us immediately and still got us out in time to make the concert that we were going to afterward. My trout was absolutely delicious; my partner’s short rib was also very good, but maybe a little overcooked. Flatbread to start was excellent - plenty to share. Yellow Door has been in business for while, but has really managed to keep it fresh; service is very attentive, food is interesting, and decor is fun. Well done!

I recently had lunch here as it was a special occasion for my guest and I wanted to take her someplace really special. I have had dinner here before and was impressed by the food and the service. Our lunch was a different story. There was only 3 tables in the whole place that were taken, including ours. For this reason alone you would think it would be good service as our server was not busy. We hardly seen her and had to ask for water refills, side plates, coffee, dessert. The food was pretty good but it was not excellent. Overall I was embarrassed that I chose this place to bring my guest as our celebration place. I will try this restaurant one more time as my first experience was excellent.

I have visited Yellow door three times this year and was amazed at the food/service for the first two lunches. Unfortunately, on my last visit the service seemed to be lacking. We had to ask for pepper and what we got was a pepper shaker bottle. The plates were not removed in a timely fashion. I had business guests from out of town and instead of being a great lunch it turned out to be average. I hope that this was just one of the off days and not the normal service.

This restaurant is a must-visit for couples or a twosome. We both ordered the 5 course Chef's Choice and were delighted with our meal. This meal includes appetizer, salad, pasta, main entree and dessert which sound like a lot but the course are designed so that you are fully satisfied without being overfull. It is also the chef's choice as to what is served so every plate is a surprise. The presentation was pleasing and each mouthful was a treat, combining ingredients with herbs/spices that were a delight to the tongue. I chose to have the paired wine service with it so each course came with a wine serving. My only disappointment the pairing with the dessert, the bubbly rose wine didn't suit the tart taste of the last course.

We went to yellow door for our first wedding anniversary dinner and it was absolutely fantastic! The level of service was impeccable! Great cocktail and wine list selection. Menu is fairly small but I've always had delicious food. We did the three course chefs choice menu with wine pairing which was delicious and was wonderful value for what you get! The decor is probably not everyone's cup of tea but I found it beautiful and a truly unique vision among so many look alike restaurants. We will be back many times. Thanks for making our anniversary so special!

Gambled on the Yellow Door for our anniversary. Outstanding! Food quality, creativity and presentation was excellent. Service was attentive without being intrusive and they made our special occasion very memorable. The music selection was perfect - and the volume just enough - a restaurant that gets it - patrons actually want to be able to converse without shouting. Highly recommended.

Service was pretty poor. The rib eye steak was good. The chicken entree and gnocchi was not good at all. Will not recommend. My mom ordered the pork chop entree and it was underdone (still some pink inside) which is not safe at all and they did not even offer to change it, no apologies. Not a good experience. My family's first time and will definitely not be back. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

We were first time visitors and will definitely be back! The brunch buffet was small, but very tasty (we each went up three times). Standard fare: scrambled eggs, bacon, oatmeal, pastries, eggs benny, pancakes (mint/strawberry!), yoghurt/berry cups -- all very tasty. Strangely enough, the food highlight for us was a small croissant bread-pudding pastry... we both went back a few times just for that! (I noticed some other tables did the same). The service was incredible, very friendly and attentive -- we're looking forward to going back with friends.

A party of adults and two kids age 5 and 10 dined at the Yellow Door on July 24th to celebrate my son's 10th Birthday. It was a great experience. The table setting and chair for my son were fit for a king. The service was extraordinary complete with a special desert platter being delivered on behalf of Master Chef Canada Pastry Chef at Yellow Door Karine Moulin. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a great dining experience.

Truly one of the best dining experiences my wife and I have ever had and we have had many. The Yellow Door Bistro doesn't have grand views of oceans or mountains, but that doesn,t matter given the stylish surroundings and exceptional food; all at reasonable rates, for downtown. Our server was in sync with us all night with great descriptions of the offerings on hand and good choices for wine pairings. One of our dining partners required gluten free foods and this proved to be no problem whatsoever, it was seamless. Short ribs, lamb, duck, rabbit and foie gras, exceptional chocolate heaven desert, all artfully presented and impeccably cooked. Great experience, we will return soon.

I was there on the weekend for Sunday with some girlfriends and it was an overall good experience. I recommend the duck confit hash or the banana chocolate pancakes... both were DELICIOUS. We ended up sharing all our dishes because we wanted a bite of everything! The buffet looked great as well, but it was a bit too much food that early in the am. Our waiter, Heith, was quarky and very nice. The decor was also very modern, but it was casual enough to go with just jeans and a t-shirt.

We were celebrating my wifes birthday. We were served by a friendly server called Adrian who was friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. The food was great, my wife had the ribeye steak which was served medium, with what looked like potatoe lasagna and had a I had the lamb in a broth. Despite bringing the cake, I dropped the cake late, a great experience. The server gave us a complimentary glass of champagne to make up. Great restaurant with great prices. The friendly girl at the front is worth mentioning as well. Great job to the manager, and thank you for bringing out the birthday cake with lit candles.

We went to the Yellow Door Bistro because it is convenient to walk from work and we had never been there before. The French Onion Soup had come highly recommended by a co-worker. I took a client there for a working lunch and because it was relatively quiet (not many patrons which surprised me) we were able to have a good chat. I had the french onion soup and a full salad (should have had the half order but was not sure of the size). Both were excellent. My client had the hanger steak and fries which she raved about. Our server, Heath was very attentive, but not smothering. A very nice dining experience.

Hi - was very disappointed with the Halibut - The waiter recommended it and it was flavourless. Chicken entre was dry. Not sure why they stuck our group of 5 where they did. It became very inconvenient for the person at the end of the table to always move his chair when the waiter went to wait on the table beside us!!! There was lots of other spots open in the restaurant and this left us perplexed. Best part was the appetizer of the double fried fries. Don't think we will be back - Calgary has lots of other spots that are a better fit for foodies/

It was a special occasion and Yellow Door made it incredibly special! Even had a visit from one of the fantastic Chefs come out! Can't recommend more highly the dishes we sampled. The Beef Tenderloin Tartare was exquisite as was the Dungeness Crab Salad (would definitely have the salad for lunch). We both opted for the Grilled Trout - absolutely perfect! The wine suggested was paired perfectly. Dessert of truffles and sorbet was a wonderful way to end the meal. So much more on the menu that we'll come back for!
