Great food, great decor and attentive waiters. We made a reservation for dinner, the menu was a touch on the pricey side therefore I would recommend more for "special occasions" rather than an everyday place to eat. Overall a really good experience! Will go back ☺

The service was outstandig, as was the food (beef tartare...wicked. sablefish and duck entrees both stellar). Not a fan of the tables near the front door, too close together and too much traffic. Quite loud but a few large groups so good times by all

Was at a workshop nearby, so went to YDB for lunch on the Friday and brunch on the Saturday. Great service both days, fast enough for a time limited business lunch without feeling rushed. We all enjoyed our food although for me a flat bread should be flat, thin and crispy and the one here is far from that. The crust is good, it's just thick. Luckily I got creative, scraped the less than plentiful although tasty toppings from one half and layered them on the other half and ate a much better balanced 1/2 pizza. Better tasting and still plenty food for lunch. The Saturday was a brunch menu and I had the duck confit hash. Good dish, egg perfectly poached for my taste, duck moist and a bit crispy which I don't mind. The potatoes are a bit tasteless but then I've come to be used to that in Calgary. Few if any resto here know how to prep tasty fried potatoes of any type. :( nonetheless, with the duck meat, the egg yolk and just the right amount of sauce, a good dish... Not an OMG, close your eyes great dish, but good. Service was again efficient and friendly. While I didn't make a new reservation on my way out, I would return to YDB...particularly if they did something about reducing the noise level. It's distracting but not a deal breaker. The friendly service trumps that out.

The best thing was the flavour profiles , each dish was unique, only issue was Temperature, the gnocchi was warm to cool, but very tasty, the BLT was very tasty, only issue was runny egg white, and pork belly was not crispy ( this is my preference ), we came in at 2 and only one server, so he was busy. But over all I look forward to trying their dinner menu

We heard this was a wonderful place for brunch, but dinner is better. The hot breakfast buffet on the bar was compact and good, not extraordinary, but fairly priced. The petit pot of the day was 3 tiny pancakes - I would have preferred something more substantial and exciting. Still, the quality of the food was good.

The server was friendly and explained the options we had for breakfast. We chose the buffet breakfast because the food looked amazing and came in le crueset pots. The selection was enough to fill us up. Loved the tiny pancakes with lemon curd served in tiny le crueset pots. We appreciated that the staff did not hover over us to get us out of our spot because the place was busy.

    Dined on 11/8/2014
We have been to the Yellow Door several times but, we had never tried the 5 course meal menu with wine pairings. It was fantastic! The wines selected perfectly complimented every dish to perfection. Our server was very knowledgeable in his wine knowledge and was able to tell us all the finite details of each wine selected. It really shows that the Yellow Door takes time to train their staff in these areas. I would recommend that menu for anyone who is opened minded and willing to try something new! Bravo once again Yellow Door!

..and the servers are friendly, but the chairs are uncomfortable. My husband sat at the banquette, but my chair had a flat wooden seat and looked like someone's old kitchen chair tossed away when they upgraded to Ikea! Not suitable for a nice restaurant. or even an average place. I ordered sablefish and it was good, it had a number of unusual ingredients such as slices of very large mushroom (I think) and smoked prosciutto, but the lighting did not allow me to see and identify these ingredients. So I was disappointed, sorry to say.

Out of our group of four the common comment on the taste was ...."It's OK." Unfortunately we were looking for something along the lines of "It tastes incredible." Since price was not the deciding factor in the choice to eat here it did not play into the level of expectation. We utilized the on-line reviews to make the decision to eat here.

The food was outstanding in flavour, presentation, portion size, and price. Our server was friendly, clever, polite, and helpful in his suggestions. The service was painfully slow, however. There was a very long wait for the food, and once we were finished, plates sat empty on our table for a long time before being cleared. Dinner for two on a Wednesday evening took 2 hours and 45 minutes from when we arrived to when we finished paying the bill.

My daughter and I ate here for Thanksgiving dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Yellow Door. The service was attentive but not overbearing. We opted for the five course meal. Each course was delicious. The squash soup was brought in a teapot and was poured into a warm bowl. Decadent! My daughter said that my pumpkin pie was tastier but, then, I think she is hoping I will bake her one. And I will. Thanks for a great evening.

I reviewed the online menus many restaurants in Calgary trying to find a perfect place for a nice brunch to celebrate my husband and my first anniversary. I chose Yellow Door for the reasonably priced excellent buffet brunch selection and good reviews on ambience. Our experience did not disappoint. All of the staff were friendly and polite and the food was delicious. They obviously used very good quality ingredients for every dish. I will definitely visit Yellow Door again when I want to show off the Calgary food scene to an out of town guest or celebrate a special occasion.

Delicious dishes that all had carefully thought out flavour combinations. All the details were not just afterthoughts on the plates. Whether the potato croquets with the short ribs , the beluga lentils with the duck or the sweet corn agnolotti with the sable fish , each element on the plate was perfectly matched. The pouring of the warm beet broth at service was such an unexpected delight. A real treat , polished off by amazing service for our large group. Props to the chef and staff for a seamless night.

Food was excellent, wine list was excellent. Service was good once it came around. We sat at our table for 10 minutes before anyone came up to give us a drink menu. It was not busy at this time, only 3 tables. The manager and multiple staff were standing around. It took us easily over 15 minutes to get a glass of water and order a drink. The manager did his rounds to the tables but did not stop at ours at any point in the 2 hours and 4 courses we had. It was a special occasion, my boyfriend's birthday. If it wasn't for the food being so excellent I would have complained to the manager at that time. I would not recommend this due to the poor service and management unfortunately.

Food was exquisitely prepared and presented. Decor was unexpected and eclectic. Service was attentive, helpful and not obtrusive or neglectful. My only criticism would be with the noise level. It may be a bit high for an intimate evening for two but you adjust and it soon becomes background to dinner conversation.

Bright and friendly for daytime but an evening in the comfy but sheik surroundings would be a treat! Will be back! PS very good prices as well.
