Diner Reviews
  • "I arrived a few minutes before my reservation; my dining companion had not yet arrived. When I went to the hostess to let her know I was there she checked the reservation and said, "tell me when the other person is here and then I'll seat you." No smile nor: I'm sorry, we do 't seat parties until everyone's arrived; would you like to wait at the bar?. Just dismissed with no sense of being welcomed. When my companion arrived 5 minutes later and we returned to the hostess and I told her we were both here now, she asked me if we had a reservation - no recollection that she had spoken to me at all. Again, no smile. The food was very, very good and the rest of the staff was fine and helpful, but a terrible way to start."

  • "Yes I is my go to place for delicious Greek food. Live the Loukaniko, the zucchini croquettes and the cod and shrimp appetizer. In fact, I just love going with a group and ordering lots of appetizers to share."

  • "Delicious food fresh and creative. I LOVED the tiger prawns- the grilled octopus- Limited wine menu but the Greek White wine that the waiter recommended was excellent and reasonable."

  • "I went with a friend to catch up. We both enjoyed the food the it was a bit noisy. There is nothing there to absorb sound. I would definitely go back though because I enjoyed the food."

  • "I can't wait to come back. Our greek waiter, Dimitris, was amazing. Please ask for him! Yes, they were all actually great. This was some of the freshest food I have had. Amazing salads- Horiatiki- was ridiculous. So fresh. It's a must. EVeryone had one. The fish and OH, the octopus. The greek yogurt dessert was amazing. Overall really nice visit. Our server was wonderful and warm"

  • "We have dined at Yefsi twice. The service is great and the food is consistently delicious. We live in Michigan and visit our daughter on the UES very often. It definitely has become a favorite of ours."

  • "Food and service were outstanding. The host and hostess were not welcoming. They obviously have favored regulars."

  • "Had read good reviews and was anxious to try it. We asked for a quiet table and were told there were none and the best bet was to sit outside. We do not like the noise of buses, ambulances , trucks etc. so we said no. We sat in the front where there are only a few tables and even there the noise was unbearable. We had to scream at each other in order to be heard and one person in our party said she was getting a sore throat from yelling. Definitely not a place for relaxed dining."

  • "The food was pretty good, was very loud though and difficult to have conversation. We went at 7:15 so it was still on the early side and place was packed."

  • "The food is great - can't get enough of the grilled octopus! Service is always on point!"

  • "We were looking for a Greek restaurant that had more than mostly fish on the menu, as I don't eat fish. Yefsi was that restaurant. I saw the menu online and we decided to try it, even though it was out of the way for us. It was definately worth the time it took us to get there. The hostess met us with a warm smile, and the waiter was friendly and professional. My husband thought it was one of the best Greek salads and swordfish he ever had. The red Greek wine the waiter suggested was quite good. We saw a famous Greek celebrity there, so I am sure the food is consistently good for this celebrity to dine there."

  • "Yefsi is one of the best Greek restaurants I've ever had the pleasure to visit. In fact, it's one of the best restaurants, period. The food is a wonderful combination of traditional and imaginative. The ingrediants and preparation add up to some really delicious dishes. I should add that the service was superb. Our waiter, Christophoros, was exemplary."

  • "The joint was jumping when we went Tuesday evening. People waiting, but our reservation was promptly honored. The food was traditional Greek cooking-- spinach and rice sides, etc. Very good, and even though it was crowded, they did not rush us."

  • "Waiter was GREAT. Veri knowledgeable about each dish. Very personable and knew when to be at your table and when to not be there. Food was very good and perfectly seasoned and tastety"

  • "Lovely Greek restaurant on the UES of Manhattan. Fine wine list but superb appetizers. You can pick and choose but the zucchini and eggplant chips with a yogurt side and the callimari with a lemon - mayo dip are exceptional. If you are having a veggie choice with your main course, go for the spinach - rice combo."

  • "I went here for my graduation dinner with my family, and we all loved it. We got an array of the mezedes to share, which were all delicious. The entrees that we got, one fish dish and the lamb shank, were both phenomenal. I would definitely come here again. "

  • "Great place to go for a bunch of appetizers and wine. Sit outside and have any number of small plates for the table and you won't be disappointed. The main courses we had were OK but not great. Appetizers were delicious. "

  • "We have now been to Yefsi 3 times and never disappointed. The food is delicious. Flavorful and very fresh. Amazing that the service is as good as it is considering how busy they are. One of the best Greek salads i have ever had, and the Octopus is to die for! Fish done perfectly and all in all it is now one of our favorite restaurants..."

  • "I love this place. The food is outstanding. I always get the lamb chops and lemon potatoes and I'm never disappointed with it. The only thing I would say is that the waiter gave several tables around us free dessert or am dessert wine to try and he skipped over us. However, this little thing would not stop me from coming back."

  • "Had a really nice Mother's Day dinner at Yefsi. Everything we ordered was delicious. What a great little restaurant. The service was spot on as well. One of New Yorks best Greek restaurants."

  • "choose this greek restaurant because of its location and reviews.didnt no it was a sat brunch menu..the waiter was rude from the begining to the end.....never told the guest of the brunch menu free drinks and didnt serve them till 45 minutes later....he never explained the menu and when i asked wat came with the fish of the day he barked at me ......most of the dishes served were skimpy small..... the service was miserable and rude....when I got the bill it was 1500.00 dollars ....he laughed and said oh wrong one....greek restaurants are known for there large portions and warm atmosphere...were was the manager and concierge....standing right in front of us the whole time forget this place it is a nightmare.very disappointed..."

  • "We were highly recommended to this restaurant the waiter rushed us from the minute we sat down at the table. He hovered over us. Each course was brought right after we finished the one before. The food was not good. It tasted like they had cooked it in the morning and just rewarmed it"

  • "Great food, pretty good service. Manager is always there and attentive; let him know we were there for a birthday prior to the person arriving and they surprised all of us with a lovely dessert sampler, very very nice. Food is always consistently good. Great if live in the area. Recommend reservations; sitting at bar is also very good."

  • "Me and my fiancee live in the Upper East Side since 1 week and we are scouting places to go dining...Yefsi is a true neighborhood gem. The food is delicious and authentic, all the staff is greek, warm and very attentive. It seems to be on vacation in a beautiful greek island! The place is really cozy and nice but with a relaxed mood...we just fell in love with it. I recommend it for foodies, for couples looking for a nice and quiet spot and for small groups of friends."

  • "There were four of us and each of us truly enjoyed what we ordered. The octupus was fantastic as was the Loup de Mer. Nice to find a restaurant that is not pretentious or outrageously expensive and has really good food. We cannot wait to go back."

  • "Excellent Greek selections from a minuscule kitchen, unfortunately we 3 were seated directly across & watched flames and waiters go back & forth all night. They honored seating request-not near service areas - the front door didn't count! They offered another tabl -.worst in restaurant, while a requested table set for 4 in quiet room sat unused until another 3 persons were seated there! On better note, mezze extensive & excellent, fish wonderfully prepared, great Zucchini chips, wine list - good Greek at attractive prices. Very Noisy & crowded in a neighborhood dearth with choices. Ask for the back room..if you can get it. "

  • "A rather decent Easter meal was rudely interrupted by the 'maître d' who asked us to 'go to the bar and have a drink on him' as he asked us to vacate our table. All right, it was 2 hours, but in all fairness we had had 7 appetizers, 3 main courses, two bottles of wine - and counting - but not even time to have a coffee… Poor form. No food culture to be found here. Just another Greek diner."
