  • "we've passed this place many times, but finally made reservations to eat there. the place was packed, which was good! our food was delicious! i had the braised short rib! would definitly recommend! they also offer a voucher for rock and bowl next door, but we werent interested in that! place looks dated and old, but has character."

  • "Great place to go if you're planning to go to the Rock 'n Bowl for dancing/entertainment. It's right next door, owned by the same folks, and if you ask at the restaurant, they'll give you a voucher for five bucks off the cover charge. Thursday nights are Zydeco music/dancing."

  • "Found this restaurant when looking for best eats in the NO. We were seated immediately and greeted by a waiter. Service was great and the food was delicious. I had seafood gumbo as an app and ordered the special of the day which was a stripped fish with shrimp over succotash. I was disappointed when the dish came out to find the succotash was a cream base. I had to send it back and order something else. Both the waiter and the chef came back to ensure I was pleased with my second choice (lamb with grits) which I was. Only downfall, we took a cab (we are visitors from DC) and it took 45 min to get one back to the hotel. I asked the host to call twice but nothing and cabs were not stopping for us outside."

  • "This neighborhood place was full of friendly folks, lots of good food and featured great service. The fresh salad was worth calling out. It was so fresh and delicious that we finished the meal with it. It seems all the ingredients were selected, prepared, and served with care."

  • "This was a restaurant which I use to frequent but fell off of my radar. After returning this time it is high up on the radar screen again for casual dining and a fun place to meet friends. The food was very good and the ambience catered to having a fun time. We will be frequenting Ye Olde College Inn on a more regular basis."

  • "I have been twice to Ye Olde College Inn and have loved both experiences. The service was flawless and so was my meal. It is great that we can make reservations online. This is a wonderful spot that locals love and I would recommend to local and tourist alike."

  • "We discovered this great restaurant during a visit to New Orleans four years ago, and during a return visit this weekend, I was pleased to find it is as great as ever---wonderful food, reasonable prices, and a fun atmosphere. The veal chop was perfect."

  • "My son and daughter and I were going to a concert at Rock-N-Bowl and were looking for a place to have dinner. Hadn't been to College Inn in years so we decided to try it out. Easy reservation was made using Open Table and when we arrived we were seated immediately. Service was very good and prompt, we had some drinks and the Oysters Bleu appetizer (excellent). For entrees we had the Shrimp and Grits, Braised Beef Ribs, and Straight Stick Ranch Cheddar Cheeseburger. All were very tasty and everyone was very much satisfied. We will be back. Also we were given a voucher for a $5 discount per person on the concert tickets at Rock-N-Bowl too!!!"

  • "This dining experience at Ye Olde College Inn, like our last one, was fantastic. The food is superb and the menu offers something for everyone -- from our 3 year old granddaughter to our more discerning "older" palates! And the best part was the care the chef personally took to ensure that our two gluten free diners ate safely but deliciously, making this a new NOLA favorite for our whole family."
    Dined on 12/26/2013
  • "Tasty food, they don't hold back on spices and overall great NOLA style food. Good prices and glad to have our early New Years Eve dinner there!"
    Dined on 12/31/2013
  • "Everything was perfect. We were a party of 4 adults and 3 children. Duck breast with sweet potatoe hash and fois gras on top was outstanding. One child ordered the tenderloin and ate the whole entree. Desserts are over the top. Fried Bread pudding is a MUST!"

  • "Great food! We had to wait a bit for a 7:30 reservation but were comped a round of drinks -- fair enough.. Older folks might have trouble hearing over the din -- it's a noisy, hopping place but we had a good time."
    Dined on 12/20/2013
  • "This is always a great spot to eat. Christmas decorations and the train are special. Excellent service, and reasonable wine list. Excellent salads, onion rings, and fish specials. Fried po-boy bread pudding is much better than it sounds, share it."
    Dined on 12/21/2013
  • "The appetizer barbecue shrimp is good with wonderful French bread to dip in sauce. Food overall not as good as hoped for."
    Dined on 12/13/2013
  • "The Shrimp and Grits was excellent, so was the green salad. The shrimp remoulade was good but not memorable. If you want a visual taste of NOLA in the 1940s and '50s, you'll like the wall paintings (by Tony Green, I think), which summon memories of Canal Street in its glory days."

  • "We dined here on the Saturday night of Thanksgiving weekend...walked in the second Auburn made the big play to beat Alabama. It was crazy there! The food was outstanding! I've had shrimp and grits everywhere, but Ye Old College Inn does them best!!! They use smoked gouda and add some pickled veggie pieces for a different texture and zing. The other diners agreed their crawfish delacroix were the best too. Try this unassuming place, you won't be disappointed."

  • "Loved my time here. Down home, but sophistication when it came to food. Loved the atmosphere. It's a winner."
    Dined on 10/31/2013
  • "We had a great dinner!! Ribs were delicious and drinks were great!! I would eat here again and would recommend it to friends and family!!!"
    Dined on 11/16/2013
  • "my family and i experience was not the best, although the waitress was nice, she didn't come to greet us once we sat down for about 7-10 mins. My daughter and I had the fish and with crabmeat and one had to look for the fish and the crabment amongst all the corn that was on the plate and to top it off it was expensive Will not go back!"
    Dined on 11/15/2013
  • "Food was great. Service was thorough, quick and unobtrusive. Had a great dinner."

  • "Great neighborhood place. Right next to the Rock and Bowl which makes for a fun night out. Yummy veal cutlet and mashers."
    Dined on 11/7/2013
  • "The food is always amazing! Lots of seasonal veggies fresh from the garden and properly prepared to complement fresh fish and meat dishes. The seafood gumbo is like true home cooking. And, the service, esp. Jimmy, is always the best!"

  • "On entering the restaurant, you may be taken aback by its cavernous feel. No decor to speak of, concrete floor, exposed ducts, bright lights. But you will be greeted by such friendly people, you will realize that you are in a neighborhood place where the ambience is provided not by decor but by the warmth of the people who serve you and the enjoyment of the patrons. If you like watching sports while you eat or drink, you will have many (silent) televisions to watch. The tables are nicely laid out, with cloth napkins and tablecloths. The food is good--nothing fancy, but well-prepared and fresh (fries need some work). Great server--not fake, great listener, excellent at his job. Nice people! Good feel here--like you're in the family!"

  • "The fact that we are regulars for many years - should say it all!"

  • "I am very sad to report that one of my favorite restaurants was just not up to par Sat. I have had several excellent meals here in the last 2 years, but on this occasion the wait staff was nice, but way too slow when half full. Long waits between the salad and entree. Long waits for wine, and a few selections on the menu were not available. The food was good but not great as every time before. Pork chop overcooked and vegetables unremarkable. The fish special was also overcooked as well. We will still come back from time to time, but disappointed in a place that we had grown to love."
    Dined on 10/5/2013
  • "Have not been to College Inn in years but will be back soon. Food level has been raised and still a casual and comfortable dining experience, the kitchen rivals that of a number of better known NO restaurants. Especially enjoyed that there was a Light and Healthy Fish on menu!"

  • "I went here with fairly high expectations for this casual place, given what I've heard about it. Went fairly late with a group of 7 people, and everything went very smoothly. Barbecue shrimp & oyster poor boy were excellent. Fried bread pudding had no business being as delicious as it was. Service was very friendly & accommodating."
