We wanted to try something different and Yayla Bistro did not disappoint. Very tasty appetizers and entrees (we tried the Chef's Cigars, the dip trio and a couple of flatbreads). The desserts were the best, we tried an apricot mousse and the baklava. Excellent service, highly recommend it.

Thank you, Yayla for coming to E.Falls Church and demonstrating what excellent Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food is all about. It was my husband's birthday, and being hard of hearing, what a joy to sit in a quiet (although full) dining room. We started our meal with perfectly grilled and seasoned calamari and our party chose three excellent entrees - a delicate Moussakka, an excellent vegetarian dish - Moucver -shredded zucchini patties over cacik(light yogurt sauce)-beautifully presented and I had the sauteed shrimp in wine, lemon and olive oil -- heavenly prepared. Dessert topped the evening-a classic baklava, but it was the Apricot Delight over mascarpone cheese that we savored. Service was friendly and attentive. We will be back!

I had been wanting to try Yayla Bistro and finally had the opportunity to do so this past weekend. We went on a Sunday night. It was very quiet inside, with attractive colors and lighting. One of our party is a vegetarian, and we were pleased that there were so many non-meat items on the menu. Everything that is gluten-free or dairy-free was also noted, which is helpful for those with food issues. We shared several small plates, all of which were delicious. We also tried a Turkish red wine, which was excellent. We appreciated the authenticity of the food (three of the four of us have been to Turkey), as well as the good prices and professional service. It is a lovely, family-owned restaurant and a great addition to the neighborhood.

Our family loves Turkish food. We were thrilled to find this gem tucked away off Lee Highway at the Arlington-Falls Church border. Service was impeccable and the setting is very, very pretty and comfortable. The best of all was the food. We tried lots of tastes and each was terrific. We will become regulars I am certain.

Wanted a meal that was more than just dinner out. The food was fantastic. The service was the perfect combination of attentive and non intrusive. I had read in other reviews that the food was fresh... seemed at the time to be what you would expect, but now I get it. The meats were perfectly done and clearly none pulled out of a freezer. The produced used in every receipe was perfect. Final comment, the grilled calamari was the best our group has ever tasted. We will be back

We've been to Yayla Bistro several times now -- lunch & dinner. The food is light & fresh; the salads (even the 1/2 size) are big. The grilled calamari is the BEST. We've eaten outdoors which is nice except when a loud, annoying delivery truck parks across the street (which only happened once). Inside is more formal, quiet and good for conversation. Try the Turkish house wine, salmon, falafels & apricot delight (dessert).

We were lucky to buy in the building across the street right when Yayla opened, and it is also a member of the United Mileageplus Dining program, which earns us extra miles for eating there. For lunch we love the chicken and the adana kabob sandwiches with the shepherd salad. For dinner the moussaka and spinach pie are excellent. The apricot delight is a must try for dessert.

We enjoyed our food here very much and the wine that was recommended to go with it. We were able to have a really nice bottle since Monday was half price wine day. The venue is attractive. Unfortunately, a large (18?) party of women came in during our meal and it became uncomfortably loud, so we left before trying dessert. I'm not faulting the restaurant for this (although I would encourage them to invest in some soundproofing). We should have known when we saw the large table set up, and could have eaten in the bar or outside. And for people in large groups, please don't shout down the length of the table!

Having spent a summer in Turkey during college, I have loved Turkish cuisine for years, but have a hard time finding it in Northern Virginia. This restaurant is owned by a husband and wife team, who are also the chefs, and are actually from Turkey. Our waitress was their daughter. She was very attentive and gave us excellent advice regarding which dishes and which wines to order. Everything was absolutely delicious. I was especially impressed by the baklava, which was light and not to heavy or too sweet. We ate on the patio, so I can not address the noise level indoors. This is a GREAT restaurant!

Officially they're in Arlington, but at the border of Falls Church City, we'll treat them like the new neighbors they are. So far we've been for drinks/appetizers once, and for a full dinner for group of four Saturday night. We sat outside, but made sure our guests went inside, as the interior design of the restaurant is outstanding. And so is the food. The format is small plates, and our group shared both appetizers and entrees. The chef has a way of infusing each dish with distinct memorable tastes. All were good and we're definitely looking forward to our next visit to Yayla.

My friend and I had a lovely evening at Yayla Bistro this week. It was raining, so we ate in the dining room (for the first time) and were so pleased with the warm, yet elegant, setting. Our server, Jahid (sp?), was so friendly and kind to us. He recommended the white Turkish wine, and it was delicious. We shared the Chef's Cigars and Grilled Calamari to start and then we had the Moussake and Spinach Pie for our main course. It was all very tasty. The baklava we had for dessert was the best ever. As we lingered over dessert, my husband stopped in and Jahid quickly accommodated our request for another round of drinks and a trio of Turkish appetizers. We had a terrific evening! Love that it is only a few steps away from our house!

My husband and I went to Yayla for a romantic dinner. We first sat at the bar where the friendly bartender gave us a taste of wine that they had been trying out that day. We had dinner on the deck. Yayla features a variety of small plates. We chose three spreads to go with the basket of bread. All were delicious and the baba ganoush was the best I have had. We shared the spinach pie and moussaka, which literally melted in my mouth. The indoor decor looked elegant and wait staff were extremely helpful and friendly . Can't wait to return!

I ended up going two nights in a row just so I could sample all of the spreads they offer. The Cacik and the eggplant one (not the babaganoush but the other) were my two favorites. Great flavors and still so healthy! The bread that accompanies is great as well. My top favorite small plate I tried was the grilled calamari - awesome. Cooked perfectly and honey-vinegar sauce was amazing paired with the Greek white wine I had. Patio is small but nice, the traffic outside is not bad since its a side street. The server I had (the chef's son) was awesome as well.

We are so glad that Yayla Bistro opened in our community. We love Turkish food, but we've always had to drive to other areas to find it. Yayla's food is excellent, very much like what we ate on a trip to Anatolia some time back. Great tzatziki, cheese stuffed boreki ("cigars"), and the best Turkish-style bread we've had this side of Istanbul. And even a good selection of Turkish wines. Yayla will become one of our neighborhood favorites.

My husband and I love Turkish/mediterranean food. We have sampled lots of different restaurants around town, but one thing that almost always disappoints is the bread. It is rarely the thick authentic warm and lovely bread that we got accustomed to our old Turkish favorites in cities we lived in before Washington DC/Arlington. So this was a truly precious find! The bread is absolutely delicious. Warm and right out of the oven. The small plates of food are prepared well and are tasteful. You don't find yourself wanting more quantity because the quality-quantity mix here is perfect! We love to sit on the patio, order the turquoise drink and/or wine, and feast on the bread and mezzes. Even as vegetarians, there were delightful options!

The food was as delicious as our first visit. This time we brought our friends. The bread is served with a tasty tapenade. Appetizers of Dolma, Beet Salad, Htipiti (Roasted Red Peppers and Feta) were amazing and fun to pronounce, too (He-Tipee-Tea). Moussaka, lamb chops, Branzino were all fabulous, but leave room for desert. We once again ordered their famous dried apricots, stuffed with walnuts over Mascarpone and a special sauce. If there was one critique it would be that our server, on this second occasion, did not have as much attention to detail and could benefit from a little more tweaking in that area. Seating tip: Avoid the table for four in front of the kitchen entrance.

Although we didn't realize that Yayla Bistro only serves small plates, we were pleasantly surprised by the numerous choices available, including both cold and hot choices. We chose fried calamari, which were delicious which were served with a white yogurt dipping sauce. A good selection of pides as well. The shrimp dish was delicious, although a bit pricey as you only get four; our waitress did advise us of this fact, and with the delicious bread, we were happy to sop up the very tasty sauce. Smaller, but adequate wine list. Inside is pleasant, if a bit dark, and there also is outside seating if you don't mind the cars parked close to the patio area.

We (group of 4) came on a Sat'd evening, July 4th, with few people in the restaurant at 6:30PM. gave us corner table for quiet as we requested, but few people in the restaurant. Appetizers good, but extremely small portions for price. Entrees (fresh fish, chicken kabob) all quite good, and appropriately sized. Red lentil soup excellent. Flat bread very good. Salad and vege's can be purchased separately; and good. Baklava ok, but not tops.. Liked the intimacy, attention, and explanations of the unusual fare... Described by staff as a Turkish restaurant, but greek in the open table listing.... although foods are similar, Mediterranean. Would be happy to go back and try some other items.

I'm thrilled this restaurant is in my neighborhood! I was expecting it to be good, but the experience was the best all-round dining experience I've had in a while. Small plates, entrees and desserts are meant to be shared. Try the Spinach Pide (w/mozzarella, tomato, onion and feta) which is described as a flatbread. I was pleasantly surprised that the bread wasn't extremely thin and hard.... Among my 2 friends and me, 1 had shrimp, 1 had a chicken dish, and I had the lamb chops. Still dreaming about those. I rarely order dessert, but made an exception for apricots stuffed with walnuts in a mascarpone cheese sauce, and finally home made baklava. Go check it out!

Yayla serves Eastern Mediterranean food -- Greek/Turkish/Lebanese. The menu has a wide variety of cold appetizers to choose from -- and we particularly enjoyed the Ezme (like a Turkish Salsa) and Cacik (yogurt-based sauce). We had the Falafel Salad, which was suitable for two people and served in a red vinegar dressing. The falafel was a bit overcooked. We also had the Adena Kebab, which is seasoned ground lamb served on skewers. Not as good as the appetizers or salad; the lamb could have been seasoned better. This is a good neighborhood find, and a 5 minute walk from East Falls Church Metro.

A new wait staff was not the same caliber as when we went in April. The place was empty for a Thursday night before 8pm but the waiter was not very attentive-he seemed really preoccupied! The apps, eggplant and a shepards salad were average. The moussaka still is good. The waiter brought our entrees when we were not finished with the appetizers? Maybe he wanted us to leave so he could go home- because my sister was finishing her tea & he came with the check before we asked for it! Also, do not order a martini there. They charge you $3 for the vermouth, which most bartenders never put in a martini! Don't think I will return and its sad since I live in the neighborhood. Not being consistently good is really bad for a business!!!

Second time at Yayla -- disappointment not expected and none encountered. One striking note amongst the good food, service, and ambience. There was some terrific music playing in the background but it was low and non-intrusive. Furthermore, it was a mixture of various genres and most enjoyable.
