The staff at Yardbird definitely meet that standard. They were helpful in making decisions of what to order. Initially, I ordered the fried chicken with macaroni and cheese and fries but our easier suggested only one side. I'm glad he was honest because just one side was more than enough. My date ordered the ribs which were easily the most delicious, tender ribs I've consumed in my entire life. The restaurant has a trendy, Miami chic feel but it wasn't pretentious. We fry chicken in our sleep, but Yardbird in Miami has the best fried chicken I've ever tasted. No lie. Everything about this restaurant was great; the decor, the atmosphere, the service, and most of all - the food! Me and my wife ordered the Watermelon Whiskey cocktail during lunch and it was delicious (and strong). They have an open kitchen, so you can see how much all their chefs enjoy cooking here. This is not a typical "Miami" place, but it is the best restaurant in Miami, without a doubt. Took my parents out for dinner, and they loved every minute of it! Found out that their style of food is to share with everyone at the table, so it was a little different that we all had to agree on what to eat, but it was well worth it. The server was great at explaining dishes since it was our first time, and helped us with our choices. Low light setting would be great for any couple. Southern comfort food made with flair and care. Fantastic fried chicken. Great mac and cheese. Fried oysters, shrimp with grits (yes!) and biscuits all delicious. Also great ribs, huge porterhouse, surprising fish, inventive salads (warm brussels sprouts leaves was a favorite). As if Daniel Boulud grew up in Tuscaloosa. Scene inside is energetic and cozy. Outside patio has a quieter vibe, but still vibes. Lots of cool beers on tap. Terrific, relaxed servers who go out of their way to be helpful and try to prevent you from over-ordering/over-eating, but good luck with that. Then we had carrot cake for dessert. Everything was excellent. I brought my leftovers home and my husband at them. He could not stop raving!All in all Yardbird made our special day even more special. Walk/cab a few blocks in to 16/Lenox & get some real food, Southern style but upscale classy! The chicken biscuits were awesome as were the stuffed oysters. Portions are definitely large enough to share. We also had the ribs and took them back to the hotel for lunch the next day. Hubby had to try dessert, a southern take on key lime with home made whipped cream. Missed out on the wonderful bourbons, but the beers were great.
