At out on the back deck which is just sublime when the weather is good (as it usually is), food was quite good and the manager made us feel quite welcome but the other service left something to be desired. Our order got messed up in several ways (at first forgotten then delivered incorrectly) but what did come was good. The atmosphere was great among the diners leading to nice interchanges between the tables - overall a thumbs up and I will certainly return again.

This restaurant always does a great lobster roll, and many other delicious seafood items - I love it! I like to sit on the back deck - a little quieter out there and very casual. This is one of my favorite spots in Marin.

We have been about five times in a few years. In general the food is well prepared although the menu is not that extensive. We sat outside on the back deck for the first time and were virtually alone which made the meal much calmer than it can be in the interior that often includes a lot of families with younger children. This was half priced wine month so was a terrific deal. We had the weeknight specials with salads, terrific fish tacos and fish & chips and service was really nice. Will absolutely return.

We like Yankee Pier, and go there often. This time, though, service really fell short. Oysters were delivered with no fork, but two spoons. Two of the entrees were delivered cold. When mine came back heated, it was missing one of the two ordered side dishes. The server poured everyone's wine— except mine. There was more, but those were the specifics that I remember. I think our asking for an outside table after an inside table had been set for us (not that we had asked for an inside table) put the servers off their rhythm. At least some of the above might be explained by their forgetting that we were out there on that patio.

Yankee Pier is our absolute favorite sea food restaurant in Marin County, and has been since the day it opened. There is nothing comparable on this side of The Bay, and we've found nothing better in S.F. or Oakland.. The food and service are always top-notch, and their mouth-watering house specials are unique and always worth trying. Never disappointing.

The restaurant has a neighborhood feel. It is not fancy but is welcoming. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food selection was not great but the rock fish dish was tasty and nicely prepared. The evening was delightfully warm, so eating outdoors was very pleasant. The restaurant is kid-friendly and provides a sand box where the children played and made new friends. My husband both agreed that we would return particularly when the weather allows outside dining.

the chowder here used to be superb. lots of clams, nice broth, no starch etc. but last nights was pitiful. almost no flavor, very as in VERY few clams, and watery. Hopefully this is not a new chef in the galley or he/she needs to go back to the Ogden original recipe. Additionally, the prices have soared over the past year. I realize seafood is costly but a clam strip dinner with fries for over $20 is absurd! Order the lobster roll for a better deal. For the bay area Sams Chowder House can't be beat. Better than many New England spots. Here's hoping Yankee Pier is not sliding downwards!!!

Consistently among the best seafood places in Marin IMHO. Lunch menu is varied, interesting, and everything is freshly made and delicious. Their burger was enormous and dripping with its own juices of a wonderful bun, with some of the best fries around. The fried shrimp sandwich I had on the daily special ($17) included a full, entree-size portion of their signature Yankee Salad, which two people could easily share. Lobster roll is to die for! Service is always top-notch and staff, including manager, aim to please. Casual dining for adults and/or families alike in a great setting. I'm surprised it's not more crowded, as the quality and quantity of food is hard to beat in Marin. Give it a try!

We keep going to Yankee Pier because it is reliably good and there is always something fresh, fun, and satisfying on the menu that meets everyone's requirements. The fresh oysters can't be beat, and my favorite side is the kale, while my husband loves the clams. But, the sustainable fresh fish is always changing and offers great alternatives. Service is consistently tops.

Grandson's 19th birthday and he wanted lobster roll. How lucky to have the perfect place within walking distance. 5 for lunch. lobster rolls, fish and chips, Po Boy sandwich and I had the brunch grits and poached eggs. Grits needed a bit more flavor, but otherwise good with a healthy splash of hot sauce. Cheesecake and sorbet made it a yummty time. Back patio is quiet, and away from the playful kiddies on the front patio. We miss the Monday night " all you can eat fish and chips", but look forward to July 1/2 wine.

The fish (and all the foods) are sourced, prepared and served with great care and attention to give diners the best possible experience. On my last trip, I had a grilled rockfish, served with a spicy sauce, perfectly grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes. The rockfish was caught off nearby San Pedro and tasted fresh and wonderful. The Yankee salad we ordered as an appetizer is always a hit (and is big enough for two). Go back frequently to try as much of the menu as you can, and make sure to order the fish tacos.

Have eaten here 3x in the past month. First two times were quite good, but my most recent meal left me very disappointed. Service was uncharacteristically lackluster and disinterested, they got the order wrong (though corrected it quickly), and the fish (Chili Pepper Rockfish) I had was really not very good - it seemed to be underdone and greasy, and was fairly unpleasant to eat. Worse, no one came around to ask me how it was either. I'll probably be back (based on other positive experiences I've had here), but this was a real disappointment. If this had been my 1st visit to Yankee Pier it would probably have been my last.

Our waiter was excellent. We loved the food and overall had a great experience. The only negative was that because it was our first time visiting the restaurant, we were not aware of the possibility of dining outdoors. It was a beautiful day and I asked the hostess if we could possibly sit outside. We had reservations. She said that the outdoor seating is so popular that all were reserved that morning, so she sat us at a table in the middle of the restaurant. We couldn't help but notice that for the hour or more we were there, there was plenty of empty tables both in front and behind outdoors. I didn't bring it up but I thought that was strange.

We have been several times and have tried a good percentage of the menu with a clustering around the blackened catfish and the fish & chips. The menu isn't extensive, but there's plenty of variety (so long as you want seafood). Sides, apps, and desserts are all excellent, as well, so be hungry when you go. We have also almost always had excellent service - friendly and attentive without being obsequious. The staff is professional, but the atmosphere is casual.

met some long time friends for lunch. it was a chilly day but inside was ver crowded so we sat outside. had to ask someone to turn them on, but Patio heaters worked well. Food was average. I had chowder-very thin and not many clams. Several of us had lamb burger specials-again average, no seasoning. Prices were typical for Marin, but a liitle high for quality. Would try it again out of fairness-like to always try somewhere twice to see if I misjudged.

We started with oysters, which were super fresh and tasty. My husband had the iceberg wedge with blue cheese and bay shrimp salad. He had fried clams as his main - he always does and says that it is better each time! I had the rockfish with the kale salad and rainbow carrots. The fish was grilled to perfection and reminded me that too many places over cook fish. This was some of the best ever. We will be back. We were there at 7:00 - peak noise time. But the service was friendly, efficient, and skilled. Top evening.
