A word from Yankee Pier Lafayette
Yankee Pier, a bustling and vibrant seafood house, offers chef Michael Dunn's ocean-fresh seafood "fresh from coast to coast". Local seafood, sourced in accord with the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch program, which promotes sustainable practices that are healthy for ocean wildlife and the environment, is presented with a nod toward New England. Live Maine lobsters, fresh-shucked oysters, an array of grilled fresh fish, and beer-battered full belly clams are some of the offerings, along with local produce, house-made desserts, a selection of all-American wines and a full bar.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meals - the fish was very fresh and the vegetables were seasonal and well prepared. The option of choosing 2 sides from a list of several was a pleasant surprise. The one negative comment would be that the wine glass had a strong chlorine oder which overpowered the aroma and taste of the wine.

Portions are very small for price charged. However, the roasted petrale and the roasted day boat scallops were cooked to perfection. The back room is more quiet but we had a large party of kids next to us.

Country small restaurant ambience with impeccable service, quickness of food delivery and friendliness of the host and server. Been there for both lunch and dinner. Excellent feedback in both occasions. Highly recommend. Menu selection can be enriched with greater varieties. Very good overall.

Service was rushed. Busboys kept coming to clear the table before we were finished. Fish and Chips were bland, fries were good. Shrimp salad was good. Wine list way, way overpriced. $5.50 for a draft beer is a bit high considering this is not an elegant place. Will only go back periodically. $25 or $28 for some fish dishes way too high for a "neighborhood", casual place.

We came for a birthday, and the lady at the reservation desk mentioned it, but that was the last recognition - not even a candle at dessert for my wife. The other thing is that the food was solidly good but the service was not as good as the first time we visited the restaurant. Unfortunately, this made us put the restaurant into our 'inconsistent' category, right when we thought that Lafayette would finally have a good food, good service place like WC or almost SF. We're still hoping it will turn out solid but we'll give it a bit of time to mature and the staff to practice before returning.

We were seated under a vent that blew cold air on us. The server did warm it up a bit but it was still a chilly experience. The food was great and service excellent so it was just that chill in the air. Also quite loud in the main part of the restaurant...Diners should request the back room or to the right of the front door for a quieter experience.

This was our third time dining at Yankee Pier. We were seated in the back room which I found more quiet than where we sat the first two times. I had requested this on my Open Table reservation and was happy that my request was honored. The food was excellent - even better than our first two visits. The service, too, was very good. We will return again very soon. It's a great find in our area. My husband especially enjoys the biscuit which we share with our friends - cutting it in four. We'll have to try it for lunch.

We have dined here twice in the last few months. We like the food. The service is good but it seemed that the restaurant needs more waiters/waitresses. Our waitress seemed a bit over worked. The only aspect of the restaurant that we do not like is the noise level. You can hardly hear someone talking right at your own table.

We felt that the execution of the fish dishes was lacking in several ways. The flavor and technique were not up to par. Maybe this is a place that should be primarily a fish and chips destination. On the plus side, the oysters were beautifully presented and delicious. Also, we were not crazy about the chowder. Where were the clams?

our table was extremely cramped the night we went - two single tables pushed together to make our 4-top and right in the middle of the back room. every time the wait staff had to get to the tables around us, one of us got bumped into accidentally. it was also a very loud night, which bothered the others in my party. would be nice to be able to request a booth or a section of the restaurant when making an open table reservation. the back is much nosier than the front from my experience there and i would like to be able to ask that i get seated in a certain section next time i come.

This place was doing very well when we arrived at 5:15pm on Friday evening. There is the main front room and a second room in the back. The main room was over crowded, difficult to walk to/from, tables were too close to each other, and they had several tables that were bar stool height - which would be a worrisome challenge for someone short like me. Thank goodness we received a regular table in the back room where it was easier to hear each other and where your neighbor was not at your elbow! Because of being seated in the back room, the experience was very good. Good consistency in the menu/quality of food with the other Yankee Pier locations. Everyone was on their best behavior - service was excellent.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

We rated the service "fair" as when we asked the waitperson what the soup of the day was, she replied that it had been a bean soup the day before so it was probably the same. She didn't offer to find out and made it sound rather unappetizing -- leftover soup, anyone? However, our food was great and the decor is very well done with small details that correspond to the overall nautical theme.

The service was poor - the server didn't let us know that one of our selections was sold out for 10-15 minutes after our order. He brought an opened bottle of wine, saying it was the last of the wine we ordered, and had been opened to pour a glass for us - and we had ordered the bottle. Then the manager came by and produced another bottle! The food was good (not great), the noise was deafening - and this was a Monday night when the place wasn't even full. This was our second, and last trip to this restaurant. We asked the manager to remove the wine from the check, which was not done. They did give us some free deserts.

Like the concept. Reminds me of where I grew up back East, solid seafood. Bar is way to small. This place could have a great bar scene, but with six stools, ain't gonna happen. I know it's part of the design, but the place is just too noisy. The service is also good or at least minimally what you'd expect from a Bradley Ogden signature.

We felt like we were back in Annapolis at one of those waterfront cafes - the ambience was great and the food (the incredible Lobster Roll for one of us and the Tuna Ahi (?) for the other) was beautifully done. We went there for Easter. I assumed they would have brunch since Lark Creek does, but they had their regular lunch menu - no Brunch selections. Our entrees were delivered before we finished our salads. Plates were cleared before all of our party were finished with their meals (I prefer plates not be cleared until everyone is finished). Service was attentive, but not well-schooled. Restaurant is new and they need to work out the kinks. Food was OK. Convenient location and attractive appearance.

I don't know why they have a number of high tables which require you to sit at high bar type chairs. For older people, short adults (like I am) or those with disabilities (as I am)it might be difficult to climb up on them and sit comfortably. The service was attentive by all servers and they were unobtrusive if you wished and interactive if you wished. Our server, Shaun, couldn't have been a better model for good service and is a person who is quite knowledgable about the food served. It's not often you find a "casual" restaurant where the food *and* the service is combined so well. The decor was New England delightful. We were sat down immediately instead of having to wait as many places make you do, and it immediately made us adore it.
