XochitlGreat placeWe were a party of eight and each one of us enjoyed Xochitl. We started off with great drinks at the bar, followed by "build your own guacamole," and fished with our main dishes which were delicious I had the spicy beef brisket tacos.... Yum!
The service was even better! We really fealt like they wanted us there! Being a larger party we were there for a while and they could not have been more accommodating. We will definately be back!

I love spicey and they delivered. Great service and the mojitos were different.....order one and you will be a fan. The drinks were too strong for my liking, but the wonderful staff exchanged my drink for something else I preferred. I also order the spicy brisket tacos. Before ordering I asked the waiter how spicy they were and he said they were more sweet and sour. They were good, but way too spicy that I wasn't able to finish my meal. Above anything else the service there was fabulous and everyone was very nice. I would suggest Xochitl for happy hour drinks over a sit down meal.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPre-Cinco de Mayo Delight!Since our anniversary is May 5 (Cinco de Mayo) which fell on Sunday this year, we were in search of a Mexican-themed restaurant to celebrate on Saturday night, May 4. We were lucky to find Xochitl. The food was excellent and the service was superb starting with the "choose your own ingredients gracamole" to the dense chocolate dessert. Also, coffee is served in a french press which makes 2.5 cups -- plenty for two people. Great ambience restaurant on Headhouse Square. It doesn't take too many people for it to get really loud really fast, so it's probably not a place to go if you are looking for a quiet conversation. Husband loved the brisket tacos. My only complaint would be that my house margarita was mostly ice and I couldn't really taste the tequila. Would definitely go back to try something different, though! Dinner was so tasty, an interesting and upscale take on Mexican cuisine. If I lived around the corner, I'd probably dine here every other week. If you need to try something other than Lolita's, definitely add this to your list. Having checked out a classic Mexican in NYC years ago with high praise from the Zagats ranks (Rosa Mexicano), we always wondered if we could ever find something outside of the city to compare.

Xochitl (pronounced "So-cheet") is all that and more. From an outstanding wine and tequila menu (the sangria is highly recommended!) to staples such as tacos, it's all there. But we went for the gusto this night and ordered customized guacamole and I opted for the half Pollo Fito (which takes three days of brining and preparation.) It was so wonderful, so tasty, right to the bone.
