Looking for a quiet place with a creative kitchen to spend a couple of hours catching up with out of town friends, Xiomara came to mind. It was perfect. It was quiet and conducive to conversation. We shared a number of appetizers and a main course and all were well prepared and presented.

Went on a Friday night. It's a pleasant place although we sat upstairs where the celings are low so the noise level was a little higher than I like. Overall food was good - well prepared. Service, however, was not so good. Its not that the service staff was bad (there were not) it just seemed like there were not enough servers for the number of diners. We were in a bit of a time clock but still didn't get out of there under two hours. It took almost an hour before out apetizers got to the table. I might try them again to see if I have a different experience but overall just a moderate rating.

Went there on a Friday night on a whim during restaurant week. Food was excellent, although the appetizers could be a little bigger proportioned. The specialty cocktails were good as well. Definitely try the Mango Mojito, my girl loved it. Great service would definitely eat there again.

Reserved a table not really knowing what to expect and left very satisfied with our last minute choice. Pork belly was crispy on the outside, soft and moist, full of flavor within. Highlight dish was the paella, plentiful adornment of tasty seafood. The salmon and steak were well received as both plates were left spotless. Everyone enjoyed the tres leches cake served with coffee ice cream. Looking forward to our next visit.

Xiomara is the most under appreciated restaurant in LA. I don't' get why it's not packed! The food is always outstanding, it's got the best mojito in town, made from fresh pressed sugar cane! The cubano nuevo salad is my favorite salad, anywhere, Avocado mixed with cilantro and lemon toped with marinated chunks of tomato, a deconstructed guacamole. Served with heirloom tomato slices drizzled with an amazing herb dressing. The veggies taste fresh picked from the garden in January. I tried the chicken the other night. Simply roasted served atop a saffron risotto. My new favorite chicken in town! I've had the mussels, the hanger steak, the burger, the ceviche. It is all amazing. Top quality ingredients cooked with finesse and love!

Upscale Cuban influenced menu. Started with the ceviche which was fresh and served with long spoons in a martini glass. The soup du jour was a light and tasty sweet potato puree. Very pleasing. The hot and fresh from the terrine lamb shank was so succulant the meat jumped off the bone and melted in my mouth. The Ceasar salad was fresh and crisp and served with "Boquerones" also called "White Anchovies" which are far less salty, fishy or overpowering as the oily standard ones most places use. Love their mojitos made from fresh ground sugar cane stalks served in uniquely tilted tall boy glasses. Nice jazz standards playing and flattering lighting/ambience. Not crowded week nights. Looking fwd. to returning. Recommend highly!

We went on a Saturday and it was pretty empty to our surprise. But that was all the better. The ambiance was fantastic - very romantic, but not too formal. The service was really good and the bartender did an excellent job on our drinks! I'm not much of a mojito person, but the White Wine Sangria was one of the bests I've ever had. ALL the food was delicious and you could tell the chef enjoyed the craft! The mussels were mouth-watering good. My only criticism is that I asked for the seafood paella without the sausage, but they forgot to take it out. They agreed to fix it, but I was soo hungry that I picked them out myself. We are definitely going back and might try to host a dinner party there at some point.

Both my wife and I had fond memories of Xiomara from 10 years ago. The menu continues to be somewhat interesting although it has not changed that much. It continues to serve somewhat Cuban-inspired California cuisine. The bread was good as was the amuse bouche they served. However, the remainder of our meal alternated between bland or, in the case of the paella, over-salted. The warm apple pie dessert was obviously thawed out of the freezer and was so bland we had to send it back. The chocolate bread pudding souffle was delicious and was definitely the best part of the meal. The service was uninspired at best and at times neglectful. They were however polite when we sent back one of the desserts.

This restaurant is just beautiful, and it is sad that it isn't busier. The mojitos are still the best, served in fun, slanted glasses. The black bean soup is wonderful, the bread and dips to start are delicious. We got the risotto and it was just okay. I think sticking with the cuban-inspired dishes is probably a good call. And get a mojito.

Their valet parking is horrible. In fact, we complained to the hostess when we walked in and she even admitted that she hears that a lot. I've eaten at Xiomara so many times and have discovered so many "must have" dishes that choosing becomes more difficult with each visit. This time, though, I did stray from my usual set of choices for lunch, and was happy to discover the yumminess of their Fish Tacos. My dining partner had the Rock Shrimp & Truffle Oil Risotto (one of my usuals) -- that dish is pure genius!

We were there for Valentine's day, and I know the prices go up then, but we felt gouged. The food was so-so, but for the price it was definitely not worth it. And $13 for a simple Mojito in a neighborhood restaurant? Compared to other similarly priced restaurants downtown where we have spent previous Valentine's Days — Chaya and Rivera - Xiomara did not measure up. We won't be back. The downstairs room is great, but none of that ambiance translates upstairs. By the way, we are not complainers who live to see our gripes publicized on Yelp.
