The restaurant was quiet. There were other patrons but it was fairly slow for a Saturday night. The server was extremely attentive, refilling our water constantly and checking in on us regularly. I had the pollo cubano and my friend had the pork hash. Both were good and just enough. They seem to be known for their mojitos but we didn't try them. The decor is classy.

For meeting up with someone in a nice place that I'm confident will give a good impression, I like Xiomara, especially when the focus is on having a quality visit together. I went for the Taste of Cuba prix fine menu special. Had the salad and Arroz con pollo, with their note-worthy mojitos. Everything was delicious! The mojito was better than I last recall. The salad has really good flavor - avocado, tomatoes, etc. The chicken dish was not heavy and the chicken was quite juicy. It also came with fried plantains. The meal was a steal... $20 for everything. We go there so often, we get emails about their specials. This place is a must-try in my book!

Great food, excellent service, close to home - what is there not to like? Every time I have dined at Xiomara, the food has been consistently superb. I understand that all their food is prepared in-house, and stick to organic as much as possible. It shows.... or rather, it tastes accordingly. And, the services has been also excellent to match the food. Great place!

Xiomara has become one of our regular lunch spots for a reason -- or, rather, for several reasons -- including the flawless service, delightful ambiance, and everything we've ever tried from the menu! I may be running out of new ways to rave about this place, but I have yet to run out of enthusiasm for it. Love it!!

We came here for a birthday dinner. The food was marvelous (risottos are AMAZING); the waitstaff was attentive yet unobtrusive, allowing us a very leisurely evening. They even comped a dessert for the birthday girl, which they didn't have to do. It may get noisier later in the evening, but for the time we were there it was ideal -- clearly some regulars both at the tables and at the bar. We loved that there wasn't a single Little Black Dress anywhere to be seen.

I find Xiomara always reliable for friendly and flawless service; and delicious regular menu items (like the Rock Shrimp, Wild Mushroom, Truffle Oil Risotto). The times I've strayed from my faves and tried the plat du jour have been happy occasions indeed. This time was a Mache Salad with Figs, Blue Cheese, and Prosciutto, and a Balsamic Drizzle. WOW!

We really enjoyed how pleasant an experience it was. The wait staff is attentive, but not pushy, and we have never felt rushed. There is time to digest between courses; time to enjoy leisurely conversation. The food is quite good & well-prepared. I had the cold avocado soup & peppered salmon - cooked just right. Started with some pork belly that was the absolute perfect taste & texture. If you're seeking authentic Cuban cuisine: this is not it. My husband is half Cuban & found the black beans to be good, but nothing like his mom's. They also rave about their Mojitos, but we thought them a bit salty or somehow strange. I switched to wine and was very pleased with the Pinot recommended by our waitress - a nice red that worked with my salmon!

Several in my party opted for the DineLA week menu. I had a Caesar Salad, Pepper Crusted Salmon on spinach w/mashed potatoes, and a tres leches cake. Everything was delicious! The ambiance is lovely with the high ceilings and great music. This is a great place if you want to have a leisurely dinner to catch up with friends or have a date that you don't want to end. Service is friendly but the food is somewhat slow coming out. I definitely recommend the restaurant and look forward to returning.

Having recently been away for over two months, I was so happy to be back in LA and to return to my fave dining spots including Xiomara. In fact this was my second day in a row for lunch there. This time I tried the Fish Tacos for a change from my usual oh so yummy Wild Mushroom Rock Shrimp and Truffle Oil Risotto. The Tacos were quite delicious. I was very glad to see that the big TV was gone at last, thank you! Now it's just lovely art/photos on the walls. Perfect!

Went on a Wednesday night and there were just two other tables of diners. Ordered a selection of appetizers figuring we could sample a range of items. The interior is nice -- romantic. But the lack of patrons dropped the energy level to sleepy. It took at least 30 minutes before any food arrived at the table. Once half of the appetizers arrived, the wait began again. By this time there was just one other table. 20 minutes maybe? I notified our server and he indicated that he was waiting for us to finish the first set of appetizers. I indicated that I would like all of the food now. He brought it out right away, but that it wasn't served when it was ready struck me as unusual. The food was okay.

We ate there about 3 times when it was in Pasadena. We now have a daughter in LA again and so we made the hour trek. Tuesday night; only 3 groups so it was empty and quiet. Pretty restaurant. The chef took his time; we arrived at 7 pm and the entrees were served at 8 pm. My delicious Cuban chicken and rice dish was called roasted chicken with saffron rice. The special of swordfish was delicious but at $34 is was high compared with other entrees. My daughter had a poblano risotto entree and my hubby his tamal appetizer and liked it. I liked my heirloom tomato/avocado salad more than my daughter liked her butter lettuce. High $ wine list. Mango sherbet was not very mango-y but guava sherbert was delicious. Valet parking is $7 plus tip.

We arrived to a restaurant with only a few guests dining. The waitstaff was very polite, but service extremely slow. I don't know if the kitchen was still in prep mode, or what. We had a show to get to, so I'm glad we had an early reservation giving us plenty of time. My wild mushroom risotto w/ shrimp was OUTSTANDING...it's one of those dishes I know I'll be craving in the future. My husband had pasta w/ meat sauce which he felt was outstanding as well. Our salad w/ a lemon vinaigrette, a bit too sour for my taste. Homemade ice cream tasted more like ice milk, again, not something I'd recommend. Although the salad & dessert were not to my liking, the main course was so unforgettable, so I can't knock off a star in the rating.

Went for V-day. Food was excellent I had the swordfish my girl had the Paeya (sp). Worst thing about the place was the seating as it just felt too cramped we sat by the window and in the attempt to pull the chair out we realized it touched the window before the arms of the chair left from under the table. The waiter was somewhat cool in the beginning he seemed highly attentive but as the night closed didnt see him as much. The bartender know his stuff forgot what as ordered but my girl said it was great. Pricing is pretty fair. Highly recommended for those that want a little romantic setting. Most definitely a $100+ outing

Went on a Friday night. It's a pleasant place although we sat upstairs where the celings are low so the noise level was a little higher than I like. Overall food was good - well prepared. Service, however, was not so good. Its not that the service staff was bad (there were not) it just seemed like there were not enough servers for the number of diners. We were in a bit of a time clock but still didn't get out of there under two hours. It took almost an hour before out apetizers got to the table. I might try them again to see if I have a different experience but overall just a moderate rating.
