While the restaurant was full, the service was impecable. From the greeting, to table service and wine, you really couldn't expect better. I attribute this to management. Owner Peter Kelly was working that day and he really was working. We had a terrific window table, looking south to NYC. Dinner was a prix fix full menu with quality and wide selections. The ahi tuna appitizer was excellent, while my wife had the seafood crepe, also very good. We both had the Skate wing, pan seared, delicate and flavorful. Bottle of wine with dinner and outrageous desserts. My only "issue" was maybe just a bit too much food for me - however, I ate it all without regret! But, so little for the big price. It actually was about 1/4oz of freshly finely cubed mango pieces arranged with flower petals. No green lettuce at all. The entree Roast Duck was execellant although a bit pricey. I would recommend this restuarant for special occassions. A night to remember. The restaurant is worth the train ride from NYC for its ambience and the view. I had eaten at X2O before and had loved the experience. My friends were new to and loved the restaurant.
My steak was 'well' done not 'medium rare' as ordered. I pointed this out to waiter, but there was no offer to change. For my one year anniversary they pulled out all the stops and accommodated my request for a great table with a view; my husband and I gazed at the NYC skyline and GW bridge while feasting on decadent seasonal dishes. The service was impeccable and they even brought out a special "happy anniversary" dessert plate which I didn't even ask for. We dine out often, and can tell you that the service at X20 is always impeccable. The food is delicious and the wait staff strikes me as genuinely thoughtful, like it's their mission to impress you. We took my parents and kids to brunch on 4/7 and everyone was very impressed. Special thanks to one of our waiters, Larry, who made Dad feel like a king!
Every app and entree we ordered was sensational, and Dad had the best dessert- the lemon tart. Some say X is pricey, but a high end brunch for $50 pp including tax and tip is a value and the view is incredible no matter which table you get. We went on a Tuesday at sunset and the views of the Hudson were spectacular! The location is very convenient and valet parking is 20 feet from the front door. The food was spectacular, the wine list offered good selections, the wait staff was fabulous. Nothing bad to say. I gave service only 4-starts because it took a little too long to get the check and make payment.
