A word from X2O Xaviars on the Hudson
X2O Xaviars on the Hudson is Peter X Kelly’s latest addition to the Xaviars Restaurant Group. It sits in the water on the only turn of the century Victorian pier still in use on the Hudson River. X2O’s Main Dining Salon's 25 foot vaulted ceiling and 3 walls of glass frame offers views of the George Washington and Tappan Zee Bridges, as well as sunsets over the Palisades. Guests encounter dishes incorporating classic French technique with Italian and Spanish influences, and Asian embellishments which create a wholly original cuisine unique to the Hudson Valley. The Dylan Lounge is a vibrant, up-tempo space with a sophisticated and playful bent that offers guests more dining options. Guests are invited to sample a variety of small plates and sushi, while dining at the Communal Table, sushi bar, or at traditional banquette and table seating.Continued

  • "We went to X2O after hearing about how great it was. The restaurant was modern and we sat at the window facing the GW bridge with a breathtaking view. We had 2 servers, one was really nice the other acted as if we were bothering her by asking questions. I had to ask for a ginger ale 3 times before I got it. The food was pretty good, but for the price, we likely wouldn't return soon. We have no issue with paying Manhattan prices, but we expect spectacular food, which we didn't get, except for the cranberry apple cobbler which was delicious. Overall, I would likely take out of towners for the view, but was disappointed after all the hype I had heard about the food. "

  • "Order a 3-course brunch (appetizer, entree, and dessert) and enjoy four passed trays: a wild mushroom ravioli, large coconut shrimp, a sushi roll, and tender, lamb chops as well as served bread, muffins, and breakfast cakes. The fixed price of $40 included unlimited blinis, mimosas, or plain champagne and coffee or tea. My only disappointment was requesting an additional lamb chop, being told that was not a problem, and then not following through with serving it. If you think you are going to want more than one of the served dishes, I guess you should request it at the time it is served! Other than that, the food was incredibly good and the service was professional and attentive. It's a bargain for the price!"

  • "Wonderful experience. Food was terrific. Salmon was perfectly cooked - flaked at the touch of the fork. Scallops were nicely seared and seasoned. Wine is pricey, but you can bring your own for a $25 corkage fee. Service was attentive, but not intrusive. We were there on the first sunny spring Sunday, and it was a pleasure looking out over the Hudson. Its a shame there is no outside dining. You'll enjoy X20. It lives up to Peter Kelly's sterling reputation."

  • "We hadn't been at X2O for a while. It seemed to us at times that it was hit or miss. The food was pretty good. We had the seafood mixture dish (pretty good but small), the steak and salmon (excellent). We had the greatest waitress at X2O for th second time around (Susana). She brought us some extra desserts and that was the best part of the evening: carrot cake, ice creams, napoleon and chocolate creme brûlée (fantastically sinful). The worst part was that our reservation was at 8:30 and we didn't sit down until a few minutes pass 9. The bar was pack so we were just standing around on top of each other with our drinks in our hand for ½ hour."

  • "A special treat for out of town guests and home towners alike; the views on a clear day just before sunset are breathtaking. We shared a special birthday dinner with extended family. Our servers were attentive to concerns about our grandson's food allergies and consulted with the chef to be certain of all ingredients. Our meals were served in a timely manner and we were not rushed. Excluding wine, the total for appetizers, entrees and dessert came to nearly $60.00 per person. All in all, a totally satisfying evening."

  • "Located on the Hudson with a view of the GWBridge and Tappan Zee Bridge I was looking forward to a special dining experience. The appetizers were very good, a tuna tartar and foies gras. Main courses were somewhat disappointing- the short ribs were very good but the duck breast, which was supposed to be med. rare, arrived well done without a touch of pink. Furthermore the duck was tough and appeared not of good quality. Desserts were excellent, a lemon Napoleon and a chocolate cake. Service was very professional and attentive without being intrusive."

  • "We are fans of all the Thomas Kelly restaurants in the Hudson Valley. We can always be assured of a wonderful meal. My husband and I celebrated my birthday at X2O and we felt special to be treated so warmly by the attentive staff. Our table overlooked the Hudson, giving us the feeling we were on a ship. The food presentation was very artistic and colorful. I had the special of the day, swordfish which was perfectly prepared. When my dessert appeared, Happy Birthday was written in chocolate on my plate. What could be better than that."

  • "The food was delicious, overall experience was mediocre. I have been to this location many times (and other X Restaurants) and frequently feel forgotten about at this location. I asked for a glass of wine and when it didn't come, I asked again. There was no apology. The fellow with the bread tray never came back for a second round. Finally I flagged him down. The waitress only showed up to take our order...she was never seen again. Go to Restaurant X if you are willing to drive. The valet service is far less than stellar. It took more than ten minutes to get our car (I think they park the cars at meters around the corner). Maybe management should hire more drivers from the valet company. I wouldn't return too fast..."

  • "Given good table requested at reservation, for which I am both grateful and relieved; third of the dining room is between a serving wall and serving hallway and lacks ambience. 3/ 4 entrees (steak, veal sweetbreads and the on-special swordfish) were very good, but the scallops in the risotto seemed as if they had been frozen vs fresh. There's little sushi; the special appetizer was fluke, a "filler" fish onfine platters.Wine service wasclumsy, waiter didn't understand repeated request to open fine red wine in avance and pouring to aerate it. He seemed more cocktail oriented focused and interested. --very good but not the perfect of the early buzz-- the valet parking could have more class-the reception desk should callbefore you go down."

  • "Let me start off by saying the food and overall feel of the restaurant was great. I can't believe something as simple as the valet would ruin such a beautiful meal. So when you arrive, valet is only 3 dollars as long as you have the hostess validate your ticket. Upon leaving, we receive the car, tip the valet and begin the drive home. To our surprise, we open the center console and it has a strong cigarette odor. We start to smell around the car as we pull over and the entire car smells of cigarettes. Neither of us smoke and it is absolutely ridiculous. If I wasn't an hour away, I would surely go back and give the valet company a piece of my mine. Now I has to spend my Saturday getting the car cleaned and rid of the smell."

  • "Every time our babysitter was available, X2O was booked. So we were very excited when we finally got to go. We didn't even ask for it, but we got a beautiful table right by the window on the water. There was a large family next to us, with children too, and we didn't even notice it. Our waiters and waitresses were amazing. Very sweet, knowledgeable and friendly. It was a perfect mix! Definitely will be going back again!"

  • "When headed to a Peter Kelly restaurant you expect to have great food and service and X2O didn't disappoint. Peter Kelly is a great host and was in fact our host upon arriving and checked on us at the table as well. All the dishes were excellently prepared with great flavor, and nothing that made you feel like the chef is overreaching by incorporating unnecessary or exotic ingredients. This is simply very good food with great presentation. The staff was very attentive, although surprisingly had to check with the kitchen (which is better than not) to answer some questions for our gluten-free diner. Unfortunately we didn't get to enjoy the view due to bad weather (make sure you have an umbrella if it rains, valet is ~100 feet from the door)."

  • "The food was excellent neither my wife or I could find fault, the location is great, the parking is very convineant, overall we had a lovely evening. I feel bad saying the service was poor because the staff were very friendly but there were multiple errors made throughout the evening. (a drink never turned up, wrong appetizer brought to table, forgot to ask us if we wanted dessert and when it came it was wrong, steak knife supplied for scallops, table set up for appetizer instead of for dessert). We were offered a drink due to the errors. Despite the service problems we are still looking forward to going back to the Xaviers."

  • "Looked for something a little more special. Found it here. Excellent seafood as these were our main dishes. Just a little too heavy a hand with the butter sauce in the skate. Grilled octopus was delicious and not rubbery. Had a deliciously smooth Malbec that was counter to the overly fruity Californian and Australian wines dominating lists these days. Biggest drawback on my rating was service. Too rushed. Did not appreciate having plates cleared while some were still eating. Staff needs some polishing in this regard. Will try again."
