Best live uni. Super fresh fish like just came out of the ocean. Davin and Alex are making a sushi in to a gourmet experience. Each dish is very unique. I will be back to try them all. Sushi bar is small, try to come early to get the seat. Tables areas are also very nice and romantic. Service is quick and very friendly

I LOVE this place. Ever since I found it I cant get enough. Davin and the crew are more than hospitable, and they have a gift when it comes to presentation and how they treat their customers. Love this place more than I can say- If you like sushi, and you haven't been - you have no idea what you are missing.

Wrench and Rodent Seabasstropub isn't your ordinary sushi restaurant. Their fish quality is second to none, but that is just the start. The cheffs combine unique sauces and toppings to the fish such as New Zealand Saiku salmon topped with a caper sauce, or Albacore with a berry mixture. They go together so well, its impossible to describe without trying it all. Be sure to make a reservation as the place is tiny and hidden away next to Bull Taco. If you get a chance, sit at the sushi bar, and let the chefs decide what's best!

I've never been disappointed with the Wrench & Rodent. The food is ALWAYS amazing and so is the service. Not only are the servers amazing, but so are the cooks/chefs. Even when there are 2-3 servers there, they all are always checking in on us. Love the Chronic Roll! YUMMMMM!

This is an odd place. Some very unique sushi specials. Food is good. Sushi bar was packed with local regulars. Half the restaurant is a casual Mexican take-out, the other side is eclectic sushi. There is sidewalk dining out front and a large patio in the back. In the back they had live music that was quite good (singer/guitar player). It is down scale but eclectic and unique. Worth a visit.

We've been to the Wrench & Rodent several times and every experience has been wonderful! This past Sunday, I surprised my husband for a birthday dinner. I only told him that it was a surprise and after a few key questions he guessed it was the Wrench & Rodent and was thrilled! The business model that they follow:great food, excellent service, friendly and personable staff makes for a great experience. Their pricing is reasonable and Chef Davin is just awesome! All of the chefs are superb! We've added this place to our list of favorites after our very first visit and tell everyone we know about it! Glad to have such a gem in the North County! See you guys soon!

Dishes creatively displayed, garnished with lovely fresh new sauces and unique spices/herbs. Not one sushi roll was served with Sweet El Sauce, which is a blessing for me, because I'm tired of it. Do not pass on dessert!

As soon as you meet Davin you'll know why I say passion. Davin loves fish. He has a great palate that can come up with new recipes, sauces and cooking procedures. W&R isn't your everyday Sushi restaurant and none of us wish it was. It's inventive, it's got a great atmosphere (eclectic decor), it's small yet just right, it's in my top 3 restaurants of all time... Davin has hit the nail on the head. I will always support people who love what they do, are very good at it & have a passion for it.

We had heard a lot of great things about the Wrench and Rodent. They all proved to be true. Don't let the name or the décor scare you away. Once you are greeted and seated you have an amazing adventure awaiting. This was the freshest sushi I have I have ever had. I did choose to go the traditional route. The Chef also does amazing sauces with his delectable bites of sushi. Our server was outstanding and our entire meal was delicious. Be sure to start with one of the salads and the ceviche flight of the day. After that go anywhere you want on the menu and you won't be disappointed. Everything is locally sourced and the freshest available.

  • What reservation?
    Luvgoodfood
    Dined on 7/19/2014
Our reservation was at 8 and we arrived at 8, however, we were not shown our table until 8:20 because "the other people were taking too long." Baked scallop appetizer and Toro were delicious - rolls were average. Our server was a ok, but she seemed rushed and our food (as well as those around us) took a long time. I heard the server offering up excuses to the people around us thatbtheir are only 2 guys to make the food and they git "slammed". That seemed to be the reason for everything, so iIwould suggest they hire more people! If it were close to my house I would try it again, but it's a 20 minute drive and there is no parking.

I loved the delicious fusion of flavors in their house roll "The Hedgehog". I didn't care for cold spicy gazpacho (too spicy for me) soup, but their Hamachi Kama (grilled yellow tail collar) with buffalo sauce was divine. Great service. The ingredients come from reputable establishments and that really matters to me! It was a casual and fun place to enjoy sushi.
