Diner Reviews
  • "This place was well worth the pretty Pennie. Every bit of this experience was awesome! Definitely coming back even though I live in San Diego. I've told all my friends. The birthday girl was completely satisfied with this place."

  • "It was nice experience to have dinner with friends at there. Also, we were celebrate my birthday, and I'm glad that I choose to have dinner at there. The view is great, and it's romantic. Good for couple and group of friends."

  • "I really enjoyed this place. I usually have had drinks on the bar side. I was completely unaware there was a restaurant side with a better view than the bar. It was amazing. The only problem was the 5.1 earthquake. But that was had nothing to do with the management. Freaked us out a bit at 24 stories in the air. Anyways. The food was spectacular. I had the tiny dumplings, dan dan dumplings, bao, and the szechuan prawns. I couldn't even finish it was so much food. Sooo good. Definitely more of a special occasion place."

  • "WP24 was everything I expected it to be, so no surprise there. The meal was fantastic from beginning to end. Excellent service, excellent food. Our server to spot on with all the recommendations, absolutely did not disappointed. It was refreshing to enjoy a good meal out and relax without a glitch. Definitely will return on future downtown visits."

  • "Still in the top 3 on my LA list. Our server was exceptional. Not just cause he remembered that they canceled my reservation back in December and comp'd us an assortment of appetizers, but because he knew the menu inside and out, and his recommendations were excellent. The comp'd appetizers were a great gesture. Only thing is, is that we were all so stuffed by the time our entrees arrived that we needed boxes to take most of them home. One could tell, that the server was trained well, and every 5 star restaurant should have someone like him but unfortunately they don't. Oh, and my dessert was so amazing and unique--Satsuma Cream Panna Cotta as was every dish we tasted. Loved all of it."

  • "the view is wonderful --i wish the food was the same. i think that WP24 is very overpriced. The food is OK...nothing fabulous and pricey for what it is. The appetizers were OK but not great. the entrees were the same. the desserts were not tasty. In fact, i got the rice pudding and strawberries but it was fried. THat was not on the menu or the explanaiton by the server. Also, service was good but we had a game and let them know this and they made no attempt to get us in and out by 7:30 and we arrived at 6PM."

  • "I was hopping this to be a romantic place, to match Wolfgang Puck other venues. I was wrong. Service was correct, but very distant, not the warm personal attention of their other restaurants. Drinks were great. Appetizers were good, but the big failure was the main courses. The food was cold and under cooked, and poorly presented. Not up to the location and the name. Will not come back, and will not recommend it to anybody. Sorry not worthy."

  • "Not to discredit the success of WP, I'm just not a fan of some of his other restaurants that I have been to. WP24 changed my mind! Absolutely awesome from start to finish. Amazing service. Amazing food. Amazing view. It was all good. Now I'm going to try Lupo in Las Vegas in my newfound fondness for one of the great chefs."

  • "We are regulars at WP-24's adjacent bar, Nest. But it had been awhile since we indulged in a full dinner at the restaurant. The food remains excellent, although the "Tiny Dumplings" have been revamped and are now not tiny, and no longer steamed but fried (also an enormous portion size for an appetizer). Yummy, but I preferred the original version. The suckling pig appetizer was perfection, as were the black cod and "General Tso's" quail entrees. I skipped dessert in favor of a chicken chow fun side dish, but my husband enjoyed his crispy "pain d'epice" (little spiced donuts). There is now a mandatory 3-course prix fixe menu but they kindly let me substitute the side for a dessert. Good wine selection, including a lovely CA Syrah by glass."

  • "Got home and discovered server didn't give us the entree leftovers (stopped halfway through to save some) but only the sides."

  • "The ambience is great. The view fantastic. The service is very, very good. The food is very good. Two things I didn't like. First was the menu. Not a lot of options. Second was the price. This place is extremely expensive and in my view overpriced. At a 30% reduction in price, I would return. At current prices, I am unlikely to return."

  • "Special 24th floor sunset & city view for our Anniversary dinner."

  • "This is def a special occassion kinda place! I made the reservation for a friends birthdays. It was not crowded, not noisy, just right. We did not have to fight for service with other tables. It was a 3 course meal and each meal was delicious. Overall a wonderful experience. I will be back again very soon!"

  • "We had a delayed anniversary dinner while at a conference......what a great choice. Food was excellent. It was a prix fixe menu. Choice of 3 or 4 items (one of them being dessert). Lots of choices. Everything tasted good, and the portions were more than adequate. Somewhat pricey, but not outrageous at all, and worth it. Nice atmosphere. Although it's a city view, our table overlooked the Staples Center side....we wouldn't call it an exceptional view. It was still "scenic", though. Pretty busy for a weeknight. The service was very good. Our waiter was pleasant. If we're in DTLA again, we'll definitely return."

  • "Nice place indeed, you're in the 24th floor overlooking downtown LA - That's all there is. Should have gone to city club on bunker hill instead. Dimsum in Chinatown and Harbour Seafood are far better and costs less and far bigger lobsters. Just blew $400 for a so-so meal. Am definitely not coming back!"

  • "WP24 is a good option for those who want to dine close to Staples, want good food and don't want to to have to bring a megaphone just have conversation. WP24 is quiet; the view bar none, breathtaking, and the service is very good. As for food, you select a 3-course meal at a fixed price, if you want add'l sides, those are a la carte pricing. Plenty of choices on the menu, unique Asian fusion-type. The food is pretty good, really good though. For the price you pay and being that it is Wolfgang, I would expect the food to be OUTSTANDING ... but it's not. Total bill- $263 (incl. tip) for 2 of us w/only 1 drink each. So you wouldn't come here if you want a good value, or, an amazing meal. But it is a place to experience at least once."

  • "Wolfgang Puck food and stores have always been a treat. Our visit for two (a Saturday night @ 8:30 PM) was lacking the energetic vibe that it had in recent years; lacking from the guests, and from the staff, too. Empty tables also sprawling bar lounges not jammed as in the recent past. Is this store changing and not staying up on it's game? Certainly enjoyed the beautiful view up 24 floors! Will consider other dining venues for next downtown dining."

  • "The service was excellent and the view is amazing. The food was very good but there were a few things that I wouldn't order again. Favorite dishes: General Taos Quail Lamb Chops Lobster Fried Rice"

  • "This food is so excellent, and the portions are generous. The atmosphere and service are superb. We had a wonderful time having dinner before a Staples Concert. It was expensive, but I don't mind paying for this kind of quality. Congratulations again Wolfgang."

  • "A View to die for, Chef John's Food is creative, labor intensive and he use excellent expensive fresh ingredients, we had the king crab leg pot sticker, crab fry dumpling, Fry luc de mer whole Fish, Peking Duck-,crispy inside a steam bun, shanghai noodles, dry sausage fry rice...YUM. Different sauces to accompany each course. Chinese food on a higher level only at Wolfgang Puck's Restaurant. Delicious & take your time to dine this Amazing talent food from a young N. Jersey Chef."

  • "Besides not being sat at my table until 30 minutes after my reservation, everything else about WP24 was excellent. The view, decor, and service are top notch. The food and presentation was some of the best I have had in Los Angeles."

  • "WP24 was a wonderful find. The bar is terrific , the service is top notch and the food was some of the best that I have had. Add to that a great view and it is now my new favorite in LA."

  • "Wow, what a delightful experience my wife and I enjoyed at WP24. We had a window seat and the views are great. The 3 course main dining room menu is extensive. The king crab dumplings had large chunks of delicious meat and alone were enough to fill me up. We had the wok fried whole sea bass and it was deboned tableside, what a moist preparation. My wife enjoyed the black cod and it also just as moist and perfectly cooked. Try the duck fried rice as a side, lots a duck. the desserts included flavored ice creams and the apple ice cream was delicious. I can't say enough about our service although we dined early so it may be a different situation when it gets super busy. The lounge/bar has views to spare and although pricey you leave satisfied."

  • "WP24 happens to be one of our favorite dining experiences in Los Angeles. Most tables for two are next to the wall-to-wall windows. The dining room is elegant yet very comfortable. The bar is always busy and away from the dining room. The staff is polished, we always have excellent service. The wine list has a nice variety of options that are quite reasonably priced. While the restaurant offers a $35 BYOB corkage fee, we find their wine list has perfect selections for pairing with the asian influence preparations. The three course meal may be considered expensive but considering the location, service and culinary skill of the chef, we consider it an exceptional value. Our fav is Peking Duck, Noodles with Oxtail, Short Ribs, Suckling Pork."

  • "The day before the reserved date someone from the restaurant called to say our reservation was cancelled because a big company bought out the whole restaurant. This left us not enough time to make a reservation in another restaurant on a busy Friday dining. Then we got a call later that day telling us that they will accommodate us. The food was very disappointing, cold and tasteless. We ordered chicken, shrimp and cod fish. The donut desert was nothing compared to Dunkin Donuts. If you are looking for a fine dining with an Asian (Chinese) flair, Mr. Chow would be a much better choice. All you are paying for in this restaurant is the name WP, and the view which you can easily see if you just drive around Los Angeles."

  • "food was really ordinary, i could have cooked a lobster better at home. dim sum was really weak!!! mushrooms were flavorless. very expensive, although we did have to have wine. i spent almost $500 for 2 people, for an ordinary meal."

  • "I was very under impressed by this restaurant. I had expected a fusion of Chinese flavors with some imagination and instead it was a rather insipid re-packaging of what I have come to expect as Chinese cuisine here in the U.S. The view is magnificent and may be worth a visit, but I would not return unless they turn up the imagination and create something new."

  • "Arrived for our Sunday evening reservation to celebrate a milestone birthday and found out that the normal menu wasn't available - only a Sunday Family style dinner. I have numerous food allergies and couldn't eat many of the items being served. The waitress was aware of my allergies since they were listed when my husband made the reservation. She went to discuss what could be done with the chef. They were able to serve me items I could eat, but not what I would have ordered from the regular menu. Had we known in advance about the Family Style Dinner, we would never have made reservations at the restaurant, but I thought they did a great job coming up with something that wouldn't send me to the emergency room!"

  • "The view and the restaurant are stunning. But, the food is mediocre, especially for the price. The three course meal (which is plenty of food) costs $80 per person. I expected much better from a Wolfgang Puck restaurant. The pork belly entree was chewy. Next time I want to enjoy the view, I will just get a drink at the bar."

  • "... on the food, the service and the view. There is no downside to WP24."

  • "All the buzz about this restaurant is justified. The food is excellent and the staff are friendly, helpful and not at all snooty unlike other similarly priced restaurants. The view of downtown LA is in full display. The prix fix is a bit high priced considering it is after all glorified Chinese food. Would definitely come back for special occasions."

  • "Three of us went for a post-holiday meal and the food was phenomenol! We had various dumplings (shrimp/lobster and Pork?), then Lamb, Quail and Sea Bass for dinner, with the Sea Bass and the Lamb the stand outs."

  • "Exceptional Asian fusion cuisine that has added Indian and Singaporean dishes to its core Chinese menu. Bar service was very slow, because they claimed they ran out of gin. The gin cocktail was supposed to be on the house, because of the delay in receiving it, but then they charged us for it anyway."
