A word from Workshop Kitchen + Bar
Dedicated to food, drink, design, and community. Workshop Kitchen + Bar is Palm Spring's newest gem in the heart of the Uptown Design District.
Located in the Class 1 Historic El Paseo building from 1926, Workshop’s Industrial chic interior gives the historic space a contemporary edge befitting the locale.

Our kitchen is based around seasonal products from local farms, so the menu changes often. Although "Americana" may best describe the style of our food, influences are many. Favorite techniques in the kitchen include our wood-fired pizza oven, wood-fired grill, and custom sous-vide station.
The bar looks mostly to American classics and carefully homemade basics. Original cocktails vary with the market's availability and our bartender's mood.

* Please note: Booth seating is limited and is reserved for parties of 3 - 6. We will do our best to accommodate your requests, but make no guarantees. For special requests, please call us at (760) 459-3451. *

  • Special reservation to get a table?

Based on a friend's recommendation I made a reservation at this restaurant. When we arrived we were shown to the communal table(seats were like ottomans - no Backs). I asked for a booth and was told that "people specifically reserve booths" and that there was nothing else available till 9:45pm(we arrived at 8:30). I saw several booths sit empty for most of the time we were there. Our waitress was very helpful, informative and nice. The food was ok. My scallops had grit in every one - although the sauce was delicious. Some bright spots were the pizza and the octopus carpaccio - everything else was meh. I am giving this restaurant a fair review based on the bad handling of our reservation by the hostess, and the so-so food items.

The outdoor dining area was set for a large table of 20 or so. Our server was overwhelmed and there was one busboy. The bridal party or whatever lame bridesmaid event being hosted there ordered wine at the last minute and we and ALL the other tables outside were completely ignored. Our check came to well over $500 and would surely expect better. We had to take our own check to the host and hostess who were completely incompetent and didn't even care that we had to service ourselves or care about anyone else. I am a local and will spread the word about our experience.

We were on vacation in Palm Springs and found this gem of a restaurant. Not only does it have a very cool atmosphere (beautiful indoor decor with a cool courtyard), but the food was fantastic. Enjoyed the steak frites and the pork chop was out of this world with arugala and pear. The dessert of brownie, marshmallow, and peanut butter salt ice cream was also out of this world. Highly recommended.

I went to Workshop with my parents while on vacation for my birthday. The weather was great so we could sit outside in the courtyard, which was perfect! The interiors were sleek and modern but we loved dining al fresco. The service was warm and the food was incredible. I highly recommend Workshop to anyone looking for a lovely night out in Palm Springs.

Our server, Haley, was the best. She was so cute and friendly and very informative about menu options. The menu was fresh and inventive. We were there celebrating my friends bachelorette party and sat at a middle table. It was great for our group because we could see the bar and the hustle and bustle of the restaurant. Although it was an industrial look, the ambiance remained warm and elegant. The only thing that wasn't great is that my cod was undercooked. I admire they acknowledged the mistake and promptly offered something else instead. Thanks for making our night a wonderful experience!

Work Shop continues to be one of the best restaurants in the valley. I'm very particular when it comes to restaurants and Work Shop delivers every time. Always friendly service. Always a vibrant, energetic scene. And the food is always great. In a town of average/sub par restaurants, I'm surprised this place isn't booked solid every night. It's a must if you haven't yet.

Beautiful space just pumps you up with Ambience! The venue can absorb small medium and large parties without feeling too crowded. With that said service was ok and food was fair to good (we tried most of the smalls & one plate dish) with 1-2 orders above average (Pan Roasted U-10 Scallops and Mesquite-Charred Brussel Sprouts) With really a small calibration on improving service and delivering more consistent dishes like the Pan Roasted Scallops I could potentially dine repeatedly here.

If you like the ambiance and decor of the restaurant, you will pay extra for it and receive very small dinner entrees leaving you still hungry. They were quick to turn the table and the server was too busy and swift to leave the table. However, we did like the authentic drinks and service at the bar, but that was prior to the place becoming busy.

Prices are way to high. Portions way too small (even for entrees). They charge $12 for vodka and then $3 to make it a Martini. Just charge me $15 and be done with it. That seems so petty. How about $13 for 7, count them, 7 baby carrots? Attitude is snooty here, like you're lucky to have snagged a table. Brussel Sprouts were undercooked and tasted soapy. Fish and pork chop were just o.k. Won't be returning .

Went to Workshop to celebrate my husband's birthday with another couple. Everything was wonderful! Had the punch for four which seemed more like a bottomless bowl that lasted us the whole meal. Tried a lot of different things on the menu and loved everything. The carrots and cod were two of our overall favorites. Service was great. Ambiance was great. Perfect evening! The service was terrible. Very slow. We waited at least 15 minutes between the drink and appetizer order. There were four of us, and they brought drinks for two of us first, then about 5 minutes later, they brought the other drinks. One of us ordered an appetizer as a main course, and it arrived even before the other appetizers. The food was okay. Small portions and overpriced. The girl bussing tables was surly and intrusive. The interior design was cool but not worth the experience.

We loved everything about this place and were very excited to get a table during our Fourth of July weekend getaway. Everything except the restaurant's caste system. Parties of 3 or more (or, apparently 2, if you ask ahead of time -- the website is unclear about that feature) are seated in semi-private booths while couples or large parties are relegated to the communal table. Although there is ample room, one is required to sit on a square backless stool. This would be fine for a quick bite. But a multi-course meal, intended to be enjoyed over a much longer period, makes this arrangement intolerable. We were uncomfortable within 15 minutes and it soured our entire experience. This is a fatal design flaw and should be rethought.
