A word from Workshop Kitchen + Bar
Dedicated to food, drink, design, and community. Workshop Kitchen + Bar is Palm Spring's newest gem in the heart of the Uptown Design District.
Located in the Class 1 Historic El Paseo building from 1926, Workshop’s Industrial chic interior gives the historic space a contemporary edge befitting the locale.

Our kitchen is based around seasonal products from local farms, so the menu changes often. Although "Americana" may best describe the style of our food, influences are many. Favorite techniques in the kitchen include our wood-fired pizza oven, wood-fired grill, and custom sous-vide station.
The bar looks mostly to American classics and carefully homemade basics. Original cocktails vary with the market's availability and our bartender's mood.

* Please note: Booth seating is limited and is reserved for parties of 3 - 6. We will do our best to accommodate your requests, but make no guarantees. For special requests, please call us at (760) 459-3451. *

The food here is good, but not really that creative or amazing in other ways. The real star is the design of the restaurant - it's beautiful! Minimalist industrial.

The interior of this place is AMAZING... concrete, edison bulbs, etc. It is a really good place for groups as they have a massive communal table and the food was good, too! I would highly recommend this place as a cool, funky palm springs outing.

This was our 3rd visit to Workshop Kitchen + Bar and it was both better and bitter. On the previous visits we sat in the patio and enjoyed the mild Palm Springs evenings. This time it was just too hot so were grateful they had a booth inside and excellent air conditioning. What a great space !! Probably the most dramatic, contemporary and classy restaurant space in Palm Springs - and a lively attractive crowd. On our previous visits we were wowed by the food and its presentation. A very diverse contemporary menu. But this time the food just didn't measure up - so great to experience the room, disappointed the food wasn't as great as remembered.

Workshop is a creative spot with an interesting and unique menu. Our server was very knowledgable and shared interesting information about how the food was prepared. Unfortunately, since it is a hot spot in Palm Springs, it was overrun with large groups of young men and women. We were enjoying our first course, seated in a booth, enjoying the food and ambience, when two such groups arrived. The noise level exploded and we weren't served our entrees for 45 minutes. The host and our server came by and apologized for the delay, which really didn't bother us all that much, but it is something the restaurant needs to work on. Our bill with tip for four people was $350 - and we brought our own wine because the wine list is ridiculously expensive.

What a great restaurant. One of the best meals I've had in the socal area. Service great. The only downside was the family of 12 having a celebration dinner and letting their children run all over. That sucked. Otherwise. Decor was very hip. Eat here!

I loved the creative menu and cocktails. Food was really fresh, tasty and unexpected. Cocktails were original as well. Place had a uber modern feel, lots of concrete, tall ceilings, and sparse clear decor. I liked the vibe -we were seated in a booth, perfect for date night. Communal table would be fun with a large group of friends.

Our party of four returned after arriving without a reservation on Monday ... who knew this new place would be booked solid on a Monday night? Glad we reserved and went back ... everything was superb, flavors were explosive in some dishes and perfectly subtle in others, dishes all pleasing in presentation and funky fun cocktail mix-ups ... we got about 8-10 sides and bowls and shared them to have the greatest array of tasting experiences and everyone loved everything, though I found the lemon tart with beet sorbet just a bit off for my taste buds. All in all, an excellent dining experience!

The desserts were stunning. Had the chocolate cake, lemon tart, and affogato. Loved, loved. Highly reccomend outdoor seating, quieter, and gorgeous. I'll be back as soon as I can get back to PS.

They had some cancellations so we were able to get a booth instead of sitting at the communal table. The food didn't wow us like it did the first time we were here but it was still a good meal. We had the chicken diavolo and the Brussel sprout salad. The service is still inconsistent and could be improved. It took the waiter about 10 minutes to get to the table so we went ahead and ordered since we didn't know when he would come back. The food and drinks came at the same time. We were told it would be a few minutes for bread since it was coming out of the oven. What we got wasn't hot or even warm but very dried out.

This amazing located restaurant, has a great outdoor patio and wonderful loft like interior. The building is very historical and has been a furniture store, city council and even a 1950s movie theatre. The foods is extraordinary and I really recommend the vegetarian enchiladas which are out of this world. Also the bar is a pure mixology bar with amazing cocktail that have a vivid and fun descriptions. The wine menu is outrageous as only one, and I mean that literally, bottle is priced reasonably. Not a single main course appealed to the three in our party and the waitress advised that the fish was tiny. We settled on a hamburger, Ho him, risotto, too much starch for a main course, and vegetable enchiladas, yes, they were as bad as they sound. The starters were quite good though. The booths are uncomfortable and if you end up in the center table be prepared for a bad experience. Go here for a drink before or after you eat elsewhere as the bar staff are quite good and visually the room looks great. Pity the main courses do not rise to the occasion.

The communal table is a centerpiece of this restaurant, which we did not realize. The restaurant has 10 booths. Although 5 of the booths were empty, we were placed between 2 families at the communal. When we asked for a booth, we were told none were available. When we asked if we could sit at the end of the communal, we we're told it had to be saved for a large party. Eating at the bar was the other option offered. It was too late to make other plans, so we reluctantly ate. There was at least one empty booth the entire time we ate. Although the communal table was half empty at times, we saw the hostess send others to the bar. The seating policy made us feel like it was our privilege to dine there. I couldn't go back or recommend.

The menu was difficult to figure out and determine if the items were individual or meant to be shared, partially because of the high price on starters and salads. The waiter explained things only after prompted and with our group asking questions. It is very expensive for the meals and everything is ala carte. I think the menu is very limited if you bring people who don't have experience with more unique food or a sophisticated palate. ex: Oxtail Hamburger. There are so many great restaurants in the area we would not go back.

My husband and I came here on a Tuesday evening in April. The place was packed. You definitely need a reservation. The space is very cool- ultra modern even by Palms Springs standards. We loves the hand made craft cocktails and the farm to table menu. There are booths and a large communal table. We requested (in advance) and received a booth. The booth is definitely best for couples. The communal table had larger groups and groups with children.

I took my sister and brother in law to this restaurant. They have an organic grass fed farm in New Jersey and ar used to really healthy simple tasty food. I was so pleased Workshop Kitchen expresses a real respect for food, and actually served real organic farm to table food. The food was great. It spoke for itself in freshness and vitality and great flavor. The dishes had an integrity and simplicity that can only happen when real food is the basic ingredient. I would go back any time I am in Palm Springs. WE ate Alfresco in the patio with the sky above. It was a great pleasure.

We made our reservation late the afternoon of our planned visit and had no problem getting the reservation. However, when we arrived, we were seated at the end of a very long table down the middle of the restaurant on stools. There were several other groups along the table - not immediatly adjacent but very close. They also have booths but we couldn't get one. Service was very friendly and the servers and bus people were well-informed. Food was different but very good and very fresh. THe portions were a little small.
