    We had a LivingSocial for the tasting menu @ Workshop. The beef puffs were delicious. The tater tots with bleu cheese were divine. The roasted chicken was better than the salmon (steer clear) - and to finish it off... the blondie was divine! Everything is presented beautiful. Unique atmosphere!

    The restaurant offered a relatively small tasting menu which had a nice selection of fun items. The small bites and starters were very good with the "tater tot" starter being a highlight. The main course offerings were perhaps the weakest portion of the menu. The baked salmon with shrimp sauce seemed like a good idea, but ultimately it was just OK. The fish was nicely cooked, but the sauce ended up being a rather bland tomatoey deal that didn't really work for me. The "coffee and donut" dessert might have been the best thing on the menu!

    We had a fantastic meal here from start to finish, from the beet puffs to the ice cream sandwich. We will definitely eat here again.

    Great food. Order the scallops on the fork, Chicken was ok, Duck and Sea bass were fantastic

    Our first time at the Workshop. We were very pleased. It is a very open space, fun, energetic. The food was so good - loved the warm lobster salad and my husband had the braised beef bavette, which was also great. Their menu is FUN. Some items available from their rooftop menu are also offered. Service was attentive. Very enjoyable experience. Thank you for a great evening - we'll be back.

    The menu is short but prepared with utmost uniqueness. The Kobi beef/faux gras burger was the best burger I have ever had and the smallish bites offerings were perfect to try something unique without racking up the bill. I banana dessert sounds interesting for a large group but the coffee and donuts is nothing like it sounds, it is a creme brûlée in a mini coffee cup, perfect in size to finish the meal. Definitely will plan to dine there again. It would be nice if it was open for lunch.

    We really enjoyed the small plates here, and thought the menu was creative. Our server was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. Nice fun atmosphere at street level - we will be back.

    After the closing of Heidi's, I was excited to see Stewart Woodman was back in the local food scene. We had a great experience at Workshop and will definitely be back again! Energetic restaurant with outstanding food. Must try the chicken fried chicken egg!

    I thought I had made reservations for the rooftop. They were actually made downstairs at the Workshop. (I didn't realize they were separate restaurants.). Anyway, after our disappointment, we were seated and explained to the manager our frustration. He promised to make it up to us. He did. He comp'd an appetizer for all four of us. Good start. We asked if the menu was the same upstairs as downstairs. It is not. The one reason we picked this restaurant for my wife's birthday was for one reason. On the menu (for the rooftop) was scallops in risotto. She did not look further on the menu as these are her two favorite things. They worked it out with the upstairs to get her the meal she wanted. Awesome! They even comp'd desserts for all 4 of us!

    This incarnation of the UNION space is the best yet. The food is imaginatively prepared and served. The menu is arranged from very small servings to larger ones eventually ending in full entrees. Any sized appetite can be accommodated. Even though the food is so wonderfully prepared, it still represents one of the best values in downtown Minneapolis. The serving staff is efficient, very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu, and extremely patient. My only complaint is that the restaurant is only open on a limited schedule. I would like to think I could enjoy dinner there on any day of the week. Even with its limited schedule, however, we expect to have many future enjoyable dining experiences at the Workshop at UNION!

    Dined here three weeks after the new concept debuted and had a pleasant experience. The "fork bites" were quite good as were the starters. The recommended main plates - sea bass and the "best" burger you'll find - did not disappoint. Craftsmanship behind the cocktails was top notch and while we weren't initially impressed with the dessert offerings but when we tried them, we discovered that the menu definitely undersold them. We will be back. We dined here prior to taking in a show at the Orpheum, which was a perfect location.

    Some items very good, others so-so. Very good scallop on a fork. Order two or three for a great app. Duck confit app also very good as was celery root soup with vegies. Servers very casually (some would say grubbily) dressed. Reminded us of servers in Austin, Texas, at outdoor barbecue joints. Too casual for a downtown restaurant. This place has a new chef with a great track record who is experimenting so we look forward to visiting again. Very loud music made for a loud dinner despite very few diners.
