The food was very good, the plate sizes were excellent, next time I would sit in the middle of the restaurant, and it was very hot at the back due to the wood oven. Over all we enjoyed it very much and will return.

This was our third time to Woodwork, but we brought along some family visiting from out of town and we were pleasantly surprised to have a rather intimate meal in what is usually a very vibrant bar scene. Going at 5:30 on a Monday evening was a good time to be able to have a conversation over dinner. The menu changes regularly so the small plates are a nice way to try more items within a group. Everyone gobbled up the brussel sprouts (caramelized with bacon, apples and pumpkin seeds). Some folks in our group are very particular about their drinks, and the waitress & bartenders were extremely accomodating. If it's a chilly night, a spot away from the drafty door would be a good idea, but the warming food certainly kept us happy.

First time here on a recommendation.. Carmelized Brussel sprouts with pumpkin seed accompaniment was delish as was the dill sausage! Brisket was tender but had fatty parts which surprised me for brisket. Only criticism was the limited and expensive ($14 for 5 oz) wine by the glass and most notably the extremely closeness of the tables.. I could literally eat from our neighbours plate without stretching.. Even our expressionless server admitted they've had complaints. That said, it's a boutique restaurant that seems to be a nice fit in the heart of downtown with a creative and hearty menu! I'd go again but not if I plan on having intimate conversation..

The food was wonderful! The cocktails were delicious. The wine menu was a little restrictive. The only drawback was how close together the tables are, I could hear the entire conversations of the tables next to us, and I'm sure they could hear ours. If you have a big personal space bubble, or a large purse and winter jacket, maybe consider going in during off hours. Or not at all.

I travel frequently to YEG, and I have to say that going to Woodwork makes the trip much better. Food is always amazing, especially make sure to order the Drumsticks as they are absolutely delicious. They come in 3 but will accommodate adding an extra to make an even number. The Cocktails there are delicious as well, so make sure you try a couple. If your in Edmonton and want a place to go for dinner, this is your spot.

I had high expectations of the food at Woodwork. The cocktail and dessert were excellent. The appetiser was okay and the main meal was not good. It was cornish hen on barley. It came with no vegetables which I had not realised and it was really salty making the entire dish not pleasant.

Love, love, loved Woodwork! The food was amazing from the in-house cured charcuterie, to the locally procured meat (e.g. Irvings Farm Fresh, Acme Meat Shop) the brisket and dill sausage were superb, the Brussels sprouts were the best I've ever had. We loved the cocktails and the dessert (chocolate, raspberry, peanut butter thang). I will definitely recommend this restaurant and return myself.

My husband and I booked a 7:30 dinner reservation on a Friday evening. There was no waiting, we were taken directly to our table. The restaurant had a 70/30 hiptster to non-hipster ratio...plenty of beards and horn-rims in the house. Every seat was taken and it was quite noisy but we did not need to say another word to each other once the first bite of food made it to our mouths. Every single morsel was perfectly prepared and presented. My husband had the brisket and caramelized brussel sprouts and I had the steak frites with truffle aoil. OH. MY. GOD. Did I mention every morsel was amazing? We both finished every bite and I polished off a couple of reasonable glasses of red. Not only will we go back...this was immediately a new favourite.

I have had lunch several times at Woodwork and been very impressed with the food and service. This was my first time for dinner and my husband and I went with another couple. EVERYTHING we had from the cocktails to the food to the service was outstanding. I know that the menu changes depending on availability of fresh ingredients but if you get a chance to try the brussel sprouts, the brisket, the flank steak or the sticky toffee pudding, DO it. You won't be disappointed.

I've been to woodwork a few times, albeit more so in their early opening months. Back then attention was paid to service, cocktails, details. Everything was as good as you could ask for. I went before a talk downtown with a friend since Woodwork has the best cocktail list in town. I was greeted with a server who had the gall to back talk customers and make snappy comments throughout the evening. It was shocking. If you don't want to server customers, don't be in customer service. I was disappointed the cocktail list at woodwork changed also. For how expensive it is, the fact that the list changed so dramatically, and after shockingly poor service, I will not be back any time soon. Sad, this place was a real gem in downtown Edmonton.

Not a large beer or wine menu - but they do cocktails really well. They make their own tonic (as in gin and..) and I am spoiled for evermore from the grocery store variety. Food is delish (can you go wrong with a wood fired oven?). Not a large menu - but interesting enough. Perfect place for a before or after event get together. A bit noisy when it's full.

Dining experience was great, from the excellent service to the food and ambiance. The only negative, if there was to be one, was the noise level. Made it a bit difficult to carry on a conversation with the group of 6 ppl that we were with. Other than that, it was an excellent evening in an awesome restaurant.

We spent our anniversary at Woodwork on Saturday which was recommended by a close friend. We decided to skip out on dinner and instead order the small plates to share- great idea. Our server was aggressive & rude when ordering a drink telling me, “it’s not about what your friend likes & recommends, what do you want,What do you want tell me so I can help you!” then she argued about the sweatiness of a cosmopolitan! I wanted to leave. I have never ever had someone be so rude to me in a restaurant, she didn’t fit! Let’s just say we had one drink and spent the remainder over at Hundred with good dessert and great red wine. Overall, I regret sending my anniversary there but I would go back for a late night snack. Fiona Wessel

Our server was very good at filling water glasses. And that was it. We were never offered another drink, or even coffee after dinner and our food was over an hour from ordering, so we definitely could have used some refills. Then when we paid, another server took our credit card. We were then chased down the street by our server to make sure we paid. Not impressed with that one.

The bright points: Steak Tartar was delicately seasoned and served with the thinnest of waffle potato crisps. Delicious! Not so good: our Mains took over 45 minutes to arrive after we finished our starter. The "crispy" brussel sprouts we're charred, bitter and ruined the delicate nature of the Cod. Left an awful taste in my mouth for hours after.

Woodwork specializes in preparing everything on site from the smoked salmon to the sausages to the charcuterie. Their food is then wood grilled or smoked. Lots of beef and pork on the menu. My order of smoked salmon was way too salty and my husband's short rib which he felt was very fatty also suffered from too much salt. While it's a fun place to dine if you don't mind the noise, the food was disappointing.

Really love Woodwork-concept, cocktails, food. Server was good. One of our fav items- Brassica Salad -has been disappointing for all of us last two visits. A creative, flavorful salad greatly diminished because it was floating in vinaigrette. No one could finish it. Will try it one more time and hope it's changed or at least ask for vinaigrette on the side. Otherwise-excellent as always.

This bistro helps take the place of Moriety's that is a place for couples and friends. I would not take my young children there, or anyone who is hearing sensitive, as the high, open ceiling makes for noise level to be enhanced. Food had interesting tones. The chacuteirrre platter was very good with the variety of their own meats. I had clams which were good, but a little too much smoke-flavour for me. My companion had the dill sausage, was was also good, but a little too much dill flavour coming through over-powering what should be the subtle back to it. The rice pudding was rich with a wonderful vanilla. I would go back and try other plates. I would like to see more of a variety of wines, with 1\2 litre and 1 litre options.

First time out, friends and I ate at Woodwork. I started with the house sour & one of my friends has the dill Collins. Both excellent. The atmosphere is very lively & the service was quite attentive & professional. My friends had the smoked salmon & I had the dill sausage with mustard & potato salad with arugula salad & buttermilk ricotta. Both selections were exceptional. For dessert two of us had the peanut butter chocolate raspberry thang. The top half tasted just like a PB&J sandwich & the bottom creamy chocolate mousse. The other dessert at the table was the rice pudding with smoked caramel & peaches. The portions were the perfect size. It was a lively crowd and clearly others were also enjoying themselves. I highly recommend Woodwork.

I had heard so many good things about this place. Seen it lined up out the door. Had friends in from Toronto and though it was a great opportunity to showcase Edmonton's growing food scene. It was just ok. Bar is beautiful, frites are amazing. I should have had the flatsteak salad because the smoked brisket was just ok. With so many choices downtown it will be awhile before I give it a try for lunch again. Maybe dinner next time when I can try a cocktail.

Woodwork is another true gem in Edmonton's restaurant scene. The food is fabulous and unique with, of course, local suppliers. The fact that they make their own sausage and carve their own cuts of meat is testament to the commitment Woodwork has to fantastic, flavourful food. The Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich was the best our Vancouver diner said he'd ever had and the Brassica salad was also fabulous. There are no commercial sodas on the menu - rather all the homemade colas, celery sodas and pomegranate sodas are wonderful. Can't say enough about Woodwork - the service, food and setting are fabulous. Added bonus - the prices are extremely reasonable!

The kale salad lived up to its reputation, but the brussel sprouts included with the cod main course were overcooked. The clams appetizer was somewhat disappointing because the sauce was so heavy that I could taste little else. The desserts we ordered were both fabulous. I think there is a lot of potential here based on the exciting menu, but the chef/kitchen needs to reconsider a couple of preparations and make sure the timing is scrutinized with proper care. In addition, the restaurant was completely full by the time we left, but there seemed to be very few servers. I sensed that my server was over-burdened. I will come back at some point -- at the very least to eat the kale salad again.
