Woodwards GardenAwesome!!!My favorite restaurant!! Amazing food and unique wine list. They really know what they are doing!!!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprisingly good foodRough neighborhood, unattractive location. It was expensive, but food was excellent and a pleasant surprise. I always wondered about this place because the location is so dismal. But, after a matinee at the Armory it was a very convenient location.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA real findWoodwards Gardens is a real find. FOur of us, all foodies, visited on a Saturday evening, before theater. We had diverse main courses - sturgeon (outstanding), pork (excellent), risotto (wonderful flavors), and ravioli (good but not outstanding), a diversity of salads (the best was beet salad with infused yoghurt), and truly sumptuous deserts (the sticky date pudding was one of the best I have ever eaten!!). Overall, The food was innovative, well cooked, and delicious; the service was prompt and courteous, and the price tag, given the quality of the food, was not too bad at all (Food plus wine about $50 per head). We will return!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Menu -- Great ServiceThree of us made a next-day reservation at Woodwards for dinner. The traffic delayed us by half-hour, but the staff held a table for us. We were promptly seated. The hostess asked if we were attending the near-by theater and with a strict curtain time. After reviewing the menu and placing our order, the kitchen staff prepared our dishes and they were served without delay. We had a great time dinning on three wonderful menu items. The timely service allowed us to enjoy the meal without rushing. I wish we could have lingered longer in this quiet little gem. I'd go back without hesitation then next time we are in the area.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMVery enjoyableWhat a great find, when we walked in I felt like we were transported to a small bistro in Europe. The neighborhood is kind of gritty, bring under the freeway, so the feeling walking in was unexpected. The food was fresh and delicious. The overall vibe was relaxing and low key. The service was attentive but not obnoxious. Recommend!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticJust a great meal: delicious, fresh, well prepared. The chef knows what to do with seasonal ingredients.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was an incredible diningThis was an incredible dining experience! The atmosphere was charming, the food was absolutely stunning, and the service fantastic. Our whole table could not believe we had never been here! It will be one of our first choices the next time we make a reservation.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMCheck it out! This restaurant has been around for several years and we finally tried it. What a nice menu: good variety, all the choices were appealing. And the food was well prepared and tasty too!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWoodward's Garden is in anWoodward's Garden is in an off the beaten path spot under the freeway in the Inner Mission.
Service was uneven, our waitress gave us our neighbor's first course, then the waiter caught it and exchanged the plates.
The beet salad and artichoke starter were both tasty and well presented.
Unfortunately there was no light white wine offered by the glass.
The Italian white offered instead was too heavy for these dishes.
We ordered a Sangiovese for the entree's and it was a better selection.
The green garlic ravioli in butter and white wine was al dente and not over sauced.
The pork loin was just a bit over cooked, but saved by the fresh peas served with it.
Dessert was excellent-we'll return.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food!We celebrated my wife's birthday, the food was excellent! The place was quiet and cozy..
Great experience!!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDepth of SoulSomehow I always feel nourished far beyond the food when I eat here. The menu offers hints but doesn't really convey how spectacular everything tastes. I still haven't found a bottle of wine on their list that didn't thrill me after choosing something new and unknown. Always a pleasure!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA perfect birthday dinnerBeautiful, romantic setting - small, quirky, elegant but not polished. Every item on the short menu of fresh local ingredients sounded good. We had flavorful salads of butter lettuce and roasted beets, scallops over minted pea puree, sturgeon with garden vegetables, meringue and chocolate ice cream, strawberry crumble. Interesting, reasonably priced wines. Very friendly service. The front room is next to the open kitchen, the rear room is quieter - both are nice.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSecret Gem!This is place reminds me of the REAL San Francisco. Local glamour and amazing non pretentious, clean, local food. No wannabe hipsters here-true SF glamour and money crowd. The place is small, chic and quaint. Its like having your own personal chef.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic Hidden GemAside from the table being a bit cramped, the experience was very good. The pork was a bit dry and the sturgeon wasn't quite perfect, but the presentation and the accompanying food made the dishes worthwhile. The service was low key, which I very much appreciated. It was a bit noisy with the highway right above, but I didn't notice it much after the first few minutes.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAll the ingredients were ultra-fresAll the ingredients were ultra-fresh and exquisitely prepared. Even the green salad tasted as if the lettuce had just come from some p-patch right outside the door. Nothing pretentious about Woodwards Garden -- focus is on the quality of the food. We would definitely come here again, next time we visit San Francisco.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOur favorite place for a specialOur favorite place for a special anniversary dinner. Wonderful food, local, fresh, innovative menus. Great service - attentive but not oppressive. Love this place!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a wonderful spot, a mustWhat a wonderful spot, a must for all foodies. But be careful because this spot is uber Romantic ;) Enjoy4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect unpretentious neighborhoodPerfect unpretentious neighborhood place. Love it.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful eveningWe had a wonderful evening at Woodward Gardens. The building is old San Francisco and the moment you walk in you feel like you have entered someone's home. We sat in the back room which has a grand piano. The service was excellent and the meal was great, especially the desserts. We had the fried artichoke appetizer and liked it so much we order 3 for our party of six. Everyone liked their main courses but the short ribs and the duck leg were juicy and tender. Overall a great meal and a hidden gem that has stayed special for the past 10 years.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious, inventive, freshDelicious, inventive, fresh foods! Love their menu & they treated us so well.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful time andWe had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Kept Secret is Out!I still think this restaurant is one of the best-kept secrets in the city. The food is beyond compare--fresh, creative, and delicious every time we've dined. Service is helpful and informative, patient, and eager to please. Food comes out well timed--not too fast so that the wine is poured and then the appetizer served IMMEDIATELY (always a downer as it's nice to linger a bit over the wine and not feel rushed), no extra charge for the (delicious) bread, and portions are ample so you don't feel you've been served a tapas dish when you've ordered an entrée. Wine list and advice on wine parings are great. Prices are reasonable and as for the setting near the overpass--get over it! It's more quiet here than in those trendy noisy joints.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
