Woodward TableRedeemedI went back after having bad service the first time. They were gracious and gave a gift certificate. The food was great the first time I went so I wanted to go back. The service was terrific this time around. A great addition to the DC dining scene. Great soft shell crabs!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was just darn tasty. Our party the duck, lamb steak, mac and cheese. All was very good and satisfying although nothing wowed me. Service was attentive and dinner was overall a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Would recommend to friends or take out of town guests to this place.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food -- every biteFantastic food -- every bite is a delight. Our waiter suggested that we split a salad, which was a welcome and perfect suggestion -- 1/2 a salad is plenty with a meal, and nice that the waiter suggested it rather than pushing an entire salad on each of us. The wait staff is consistently the most professional I have seen -- attentive, yet restrained. This is an excellent restaurant for business lunches, as the noise level is quiet enough to carry on a conversation comfortably and the tables are not squeezed close to each other. I have been here twice now in one week, and the experience was superb on both occasions.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA winner!Three of us dined at Woodward Table on a Tuesday evening. The bar was quite energetic at 6:30, but the restaurant is big enough that they were able to seat us in a quiet location. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable. He brought lovely buttery rolls to the table while we decided what to order. Highly recommend all of the following: wild mushroom, spinach and fontina cheese flatbread; shrimp and (excellent) creamy grits; beef brisket; gnocchi; chocolate & bourbon bread pudding; and creme brulee. Everything was delicious and portions just the right size. Reasonable prices for DC. We will definitely be back.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMSaturday EveningRequested and received a VERY quiet table.
Prompt service except entree was slow in coming but we were talking so no big deal.
Crab cake was super. Flatbread was, well flat and over priced at $14.50.
I'll be back.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSnazzyliciousGood food, terrific service, nice selection of wines. Etc5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA well done mealTook my team of 6 out to lunch and they selected Woodward Table. I had not been before, but some of them had come for lunch during Restaurant Week. Everyone enjoyed their dishes, including the steak, trout and soft-shell crab, and house-made lemonade. Everyone wants to go back!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMDesserts--Save Room!Pear tart--amazing w/blue cheese ice cream & banana cream tart, over-the-top! Beef tartar was
outstanding...other apps and mains very good to excellent. Will absolutely return.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Place for LunchThis relatively new restaurant is near K Street in DC and not far from the White House. It's a very good new addition for lunch. The flatbreads with several different toppings and usually a daily special are a particular draw and with part of a salad make a very satisfying lunch.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWell done, WoodwardChef Jeffrey Buben has done it again. This unpretentious, but excellent dining spot has terrific food, great service and a menu that makes decisions difficult. We went with three people and the entrees varied from the lamb steak, to the pork chop to the crab cakes and each was outstanding. Our waiter was knowledgeable and extremely personable, which made it a great overall experience.
I haven't tried the carry out side of Woodward, but I will!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent foodMy wife had the trout and I had the Corned Beef Brisket, both were excellent. The trout had a nice sauce with it and wasn't too rich like some places. The Corned Beef Brisket had glazed vegetables with it that helped cut the saltiness of the brisket, it was a good paring.
The portion sizes were good, I had trouble finishing all the Brisket but it was too good to leave!
We also had desert, banana cream pie and white chocolate Creme Brulee. Both were very good as well.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch At Woodward TableOverall, the brunch experience at Woodward Table was very enjoyable. We went on Mother's Day and even though that is normally a crazy busy time for restaurants that serve brunch, the atmosphere was very pleasant, we were seated right away, and the staff was nice. The food was very good, portions were nice size for brunch. The only thing i would nit pick about was the fact that our server was not particularly attentive. We had to ask multiple times for items like ketchup and syrup and it seemed like he would just go off and forget about us for a while, not really checking to see if things were to our liking or if we needed anything. But the food was good, and I would recommend.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Saturday dinner with familyWe had family from out of town visiting for the weekend and needed a good restaurant with a menu that wasn't abundant, but offered variety. We also wanted to go somewhere that wasn't too swanky nor too casual - The Woodward Table offered us this. Every member of our party raved about their food, but the clear winner was the tuna with short beef rib. A strange, but excellent combination. The restaurant had a nice buzzing atmosphere, but wasn't too noisy, so we could all catch up and chat. The food is a little on the pricier side, but it was worth every penny. If you need to please a varied group of people and want to treat them, you can't go wrong here.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLimited menu but great foodThis is a terrific spot to try an unusual dish of seared tuna over braised short ribs. Sounded odd but boy does it work. Excellent! We also loved the lamb ribs basted in a spicy sauce.. The service was great. We had asked for a table in the back by the big windows for our group of 6 and they gladly accommodated us. The only caveat is that the menu is a bit limited and you may want to check it online before you book. Overall a fun and interesting place to try5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMCUSTOMER SERVICEThe restaurant was great, however when I arrived I did not appreciate that the hostess assumed I was part of the staff rather than a customer. The hostess was on the phone when I walked in, and since it was slow, I took a seat to wait for her to finish her call. Instead of her inquiring as to whether I had a reservation or was waiting to be seated, she ignored me. Another customer arrived and she immediately asked if she could help. I had to get her attention for assistance.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good! This time I went to Woodward Table just for a burger, I am pregnant and was craving a good burger and I heard they had good ones. Well they proved me right! It was very good! And usually I'm not the kind of Burger person, but for this one I will definitely come back.
The server Robert I think was his name was very nice, when he saw I was pregnant he congratulated me, he was professional and friendly while not intrusive nor pushy, loved it!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the kale salad!Food was all great and we especially enjoyed the range of small plates on the menu. The kale salad was amazing! The only negative was my cocktail, which wasn't very good. Would recommend sticking with wine.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently excellentHave visited Woodward Table 3+ times now and enjoyed an excellent meal, paired with good wines, each time.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent menu, much betterExcellent menu, much better than the old Potenza that occupied the site previously. Some adventurous yet feasible combinations with some unusual flavors that worked well together4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMPrompt service, great miniPrompt service, great mini Parker house rolls , nice open kitchen, well balanced flavors.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMA big, bright, brasserie typeA big, bright, brasserie type restaurant with a large, wide ranging menu from a hamburger to marrow bones to traditional entrees like trout. Friendly staff could be more knowledgable. Bar service quite slow on a Friday night. Good choice if you want a buzzing place with good food and not an elegant evening.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was awesome! Loved theFood was awesome! Loved the hot rolls and flatbread and fries. However, the foot was still connected to the chicken - yep that's 'different' for an American fine dining establishment. It was still tasty though.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMB+Nothing out of the ordinary or spectacular. Just a solid new restaurant with nice seating, good food, and above average service. No real "wow" factor but I wasn't looking for one. The place delivered what I was looking for--a quality place to enjoy a business luncheon with a quality, close client.
Done well, done efficiently, and done right.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMYummy TunaSat outside for a business lunch. Food was great, service too. Will definitely be back.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time dining here andFirst time dining here and the food was fantastic. We had the bone marrow, which just melted in your mouth. The duck, which was cooked perfectly and the crab flatbread. Desserts were also very flavorful and simple.
Our server was very kind and friendly, but she needs to learn the menu. I asked her about the duck and she said it was, "Chewy." I had a feeling she never tried the dish, so I wanted to assess it for myself. The duck was cooked and seasoned perfectly and not chewy at all. For dessert I asked what sorbets and ice creams were available, but she didn't know. We ended up getting the apple sampler, which our server thought was small when it came out and the coffee and cream. Both were delicious. Kudos to Pastry Chef Bever4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMNice ambiance. The noiseNice ambiance. The noise level was low enough for our party of six to all hear each other around a rectangular table which I was very pleased with. The service was good - some of the staff that brought the dishes out didn't know who the dish belonged to. Not a big deal, but than again it doesn't take them up to 5-star service. The food was very good. Great flat breads and the meals all were very good. I was glad we ordered a few sides as the dishes didn't come with sides. Desserts were also good. I would definitely come back here.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAlthough they have only beenAlthough they have only been open since November they hit a home run with me. The food was innovative and very good. The service was low key but exceptional. Their wine list was all small vineyards but with little in the way of description. We had a very good wine recommended by the waiter. My oyster stew was different from any I've had but excellent, rich and well flavored to show off the oysters. The lamb leg steak came with fava beans, goat cheese, artichoke hearts, pine nuts fire roasted grape tomatoes. Each bite was a different wonderful flavor combination. The duck breast on a bed of duck leg confit was also excellent. For dessert I recommend an amazingly delicious pear tart paired with blue cheese ice cream that was simply amazing.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMfood was excellent and diversefood was excellent and diverse offerings for lunch4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was delicious. SeemsFood was delicious. Seems to be a well-run operation. I was sad that they didn't have the lamb ribs for lunch - dinner only, which made me sad. Everyone had salads and they were very filling.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMy seared tuna was slicedMy seared tuna was sliced and perfectly done -- succulent and tender. The roasted brussel sprouts with cherries and bits of bacon was superb! Really love this restaurant.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMLOVE THIS PLACE! FOOD IS FANTASTIC!LOVE THIS PLACE! FOOD IS FANTASTIC! (HAVE BEEN BACK SEVERAL TIMES)4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, and a niceExcellent food, and a nice space, but the service was a little off. Both our waiter and bus people seemed to not be properly trained.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was very good! SpecificallyFood was very good! Specifically called and said it was my sons birthday and was assured that they would at least put a candle in his dessert and it didn't happen. It was a busy Friday night- but service was a bit slow and was less than the wow I was hoping for for a special occasion!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and very good drinks.Great food and very good drinks. Would definitely go again.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great experienceWe had a great experience at Woodward Table on Friday March 29.
- Met Chef Buben
- Enjoyed a drink at the bar
- Bibb salad (with fresh parmesan dressing), shrimp and grits, duck breast and rockfish - all excellent
- pear tart for dessert
Overall a great experience - definitely one of the elite restaurants in the city. Jeff Buben brings tremendous value to this place and clearly knows the recipe for success. Hope this restaurant will be around for a long time.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLove!Located where Potenza formerly was, and part of the restaurant chain that owns Vidalia.
I had lunch with a colleague on a Friday. I was able to make a quick reservation via Open Table and we were seated immediately when we arrived. Our table was close to where the food is prepared so we got a good view of everything that rolled-off the "assembly line," and I have to say, everything looked great.
I ordered the chicken salad and she ordered the short ribs, and we split a side of mac and cheese. The cuisine is "upscale southern," and presentation is EVERYTHING. Seriously, the food on every plate we saw looked gorgeous. Not to mention, our food did not disappoint!
Everything about the experience was top-notch.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was divine. They workedFood was divine. They worked with my confusing food allergies; thanks!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food and serviceOutstanding food and service. Pam our server was very friendly and informative without being over bearing. The food was incredible. This place being new seems to have already hit their stride.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMNot all service staff are winners. This was the second time we ate at Woodward Table. The first time, my husband and I ate at the bar and loved it. The second time, we brought our son to celebrate his 25th birthday. The food was excellent once again, and once ordered came very quickly to the table. However, the service person we had this time was rather flighty and forgot to bring my son his drink that he ordered following dinner and the coffee for my husband which arrived after my son and I each finished our desserts. And she even mixed up the desserts, giving me my dessert with "Happy Birthday" decorated along the edge of my plate, instead of on my son's dessert plate.
But overall, love Woodward Table and would definitely recommend it.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent, andThe food was excellent, and the menu was varied and interesting. Service was great and it was quiet enough to have a conversation at our table -- not necessarily the norm in DC these days! I will return and would recommend it to friends.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food in a smartly styled spotExcellent food...good for foodies who appreciate sane portions. Appetizers and flatbreads looked especially interesting...will definitely try a meal of just those next time. Server was attentive and pleasantly quirky. Sat next to the kitchen (closest to brick oven) and enjoyed watching the most popular fare come out. Liked the presentation on oversized plates, but the small 2-top table didn't accommodate those very well...not smart. $25 cork fee was a bit steep, even considering that only 4 wines by the glass were available for $9 (all others ~$12 and up). Overall, I think this could become a new favorite spot, to dine alone, as a couple or with a small group.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMquick and efficient service.quick and efficient service. portions for main lunch entree are somewhat small. desserts however, are not.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMQuality lunchWe had a great business lunch this week. Quick, delicious food and convenient to the office. I look forward to taking more clients to lunh at the Woodward Table.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Bartender.Your bartender was excellent and very friendly and recommended a Pinot Gris from Oregon. This was an excellent wine and your bartender brought over the bottle so I could read the label. I wrote down the name to purchase in the future. Bartender was excellent in service and talked directly to me while waiting for my friend to arrive that was having dinner with me.
Your food was prepared nice with just one exception and I wished I had ordered the Pork Tenderloin well done (but I was not asked how it was to be cooked by the food waiter). I was too embarrassed to return the plate back to the kitchen. Excellent Brussel Sprouts.
Thank you very much. I will be back to your restaurant again.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMJeff Bubin has another successJeff Bubin has another success on his list. We loved everything about the menu. Our lunch was superbly prepared. A marvelous addition to the neighborhood.2/4/2013 12:00:00 AMate at the bar. Service justate at the bar. Service just a bit off but the food was great. Will definitely be back! What a great addition to the neighborhood.12/16/2012 12:00:00 AMFlavor galore at Woodward TableAll the food we ordered was off the charts flavorful! I cannot wait to eat here again. In addition, the staff gives attention to details. I made our reservation through Open Table & asked that a candle or other subdued acknowledgement of my girlfriend's Birthday accompany the desert of her choice. This occurred just as requested in the reservation without ever saying a word in person. To top it off the hostess said nothing when we arrived, which would have given my pre-arrangements away, but wished her Happy Birthday when we were leaving.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
