Diner Reviews
  • "I have come here for a birthday lunch a couple of times. This last time the dessert was on the house. I am always impressed by their kind and knowledgeable staff. Woodlands is a great hidden gem in the neighborhood, but never fails to be a wonderful dining experience."

  • "We have been three times in the last six months and have always had an enjoyable experience. The waiters are always pleasant, well- informed on the menu, and solicitous.i ordered one of the most popular dishes on the menu which was the salmon, cabbage, and polenta dish. It was delicious, had a lovely presentation, but was a bit filling with the sauce and cabbage. I would like to see some lighter fish dishes on the menu. My husband ordered the pork chop served with garlic mash potatoes. Again, the dish was tasty but filling, as the pork chop was quite thick. I suppose some people would like this, but we're trying to eat lighter these days. All in all, this restaurant is a gem in the Preston Hollow area."

  • "I've been to Woodlands for lunch on several occassions and have always been happy with the experience. The wait staff is always polite and prompt without hovering. The food has never disappointed. It happens to be close to my office and I've been able to get in, have a good lunch, and get back to the office in good time."

  • "The Woodlands Grill is the best! Every menu item was just delicious! Enjoy!"

  • "Have been to Woodlands several times since moving to Dallas. Not spectacular, but consistently good. This place is great for a relatively quiet dinner on the weekend without having to fight large crowds. Service is very good. The menu could be more imaginative, but for a well executed steak or piece of fish, this place is just right. We will continue to come because it is comfortable and dependable."

  • "We discovered this place on Open Table and gave it a try. We have been back twice since as the food was great with a large selection, good service, at a very reasonable price. We recommend this restaurant to all is it will not disappoint."

  • "Used Open Table to make lunch reservation for business meeting. Table was ready at reservation time. Service was great. Food was great. Price was appropriate. Really a perfect spot for a business lunch!"

  • "Very consistent. Eat there about once a week. Courtney and her team are fun and always make you welcome. I can live on the salmon salad and chocolate!"

  • "I have been to Woodlands many times for lunch and have enjoyed the lunch menu. I was disheartened to learn that the same menu was used for dinner. I was looking forward to something different. Our waiter, while friendly, had to be asked about the specials, rather than offering the other options. My guests enjoyed their salmon and reuben, but the crab cake dinner was too little crab, too much filler and an overpowering sauce."

  • "Love the brunch menu! Unfortunately, I haven't sampled everything because I have my favorite dish! I just love their food, the cozy surroundings, and the unobtrusive service."

  • "My wife and I go occasionally for the "Date Night" menu and we are always impressed with the quality of the food and the service. The "Date Night" menu is a terrific value. One of the best filet mignons in Dallas. Everything we have had there was very good. The atmosphere is pleasant and we never feel rushed. Not so loud that you can't carry on a conversation and not so quiet that you feel like you can't have a conversation without everyone hearing. It is a great place to linger over the creme brulee and coffee at the end of the meal."

  • "This is our 5th time eatting here and we dicided yesterday we were going to start trying everything on the menu and not just the salads. We all had hamburgers which were delicious with sweet potatoe fries. We all have had the plank salmon several times which is wonderful as well as he chicken salad and trout salad where you can substitute the meat. The menu is varied and very creative. We are going to start going every couple weeks to try other options. Service is great and attentive wait staff."

  • "My date and I went here for valentine's dinner. Our first time here and we will definitely be back! I ordered the filet mignon, it was cooked perfectly and melt in your mouth delicious! My date ordered the reggiano chicken which was also excellent. We got a side of mac & cheese, very good! We also ordered a bottle of wine that paired so well with our meal. Perfect date! We were impressed and cant wait to go back. My only complaint is no one waited on us for a good 10 minutes when we were seated. But once she noticed us, she was very professional and attentive."

  • "My wife and I really enjoyed our time here. Had never heard of it, but wanted a place that took a reservation on Valentine's night, and this one did. It was a great choice. We both really liked our Bourbon Apple Ciders. The Spinach Artichoke Dip was excellent as our appetizer. My wife liked her crab cake a lot. My trout was good, but it was doused in too much sauce. Felt a little heavy. Service was quite attentive and friendly. With two drinks, and appetizer, two entrees, and one side (had the mac and cheese, which was super), our bill was $90 plus tip. Not a bad deal for a fun night out in a really nice place. Laid-back atmosphere. We would certainly return here."

  • "This is a favorite place of ours. Probably should make reservations. A bit noisy if you're not in a booth."

  • "This was our first time dining at WAG. Our OT reservation was found quickly and we were promptly seated in a booth at the bar. The restaurant is cozy, unpretentious and comfortable. Our waitress (also a bartender) was terrific, friendly and helpful. The wine was reasonably priced although the selection was limited. The menu has plenty of options. My SO had the grilled Arctic Char with dill cream sauce, Siracha mashed potatoes and tempura asparagus. She absolutely loved it - especially the mashers. Brilliant idea I will try to replicate at home. I had the mahogany chicken (with regular mashers - also delicious) and perfectly sautéed vegetables. It was all very good and reasonably priced. Great choice for the end of a busy week."

  • "Everything was great except for the confusion upon our arrival. We were told they didn't have our reservation in the system (despite an OpenTable confirmation), and not allowed to sit in one of the "reserved" booths. Turns out the other person in our party had arrived before us, had already been sat, and instead of the host noting we were yet to show up, they completely deleted the reservation. When we showed up two minutes later, they sat us at a different table on the other side of the restaurant. After about 10 minutes, our friend decided to do a lap around the restaurant and found us sitting at a different table. Like I said, the lunch itself was fine, but the system the hosts use to keep track of party members needs to be improved."

  • "Pleasantly surprised by this small place on Forest Lane. The food was quite good. Highlights were the Ahi tuna nachos and the bread pudding (out of this world delicious)! Close to five star on the food."

  • "If you are in for good health try their salmon salad. Everyone i have introduced it to has loved it and ordered it again the next time they came. I can't do justice in explaining the freshness and crispness of flavors. The salmon is grilled to your desired perfection and served hot on top of the salad at the table. It all just melts in your mouth. It makes you smile all day for treating yourself so good at lunch!"

  • "I always have to resist the scrumptious sweet potato fries ( well, not always)! Too many items on the menu and most recently tried the ahi tuna salad. It was wonderful! A great neighborhood gem that I will go out of the way to visit for lunch or dinner and it's right around the corner from church for brunch on Sundays."

  • "My friend and I met here for brunch. The waitress was friendly, knew the menu, and let us have ample time to order while we sipped our $2 Mimosas and Bloody Marys (made VERY well - good mix, good alcohol content). The food was fantastic. My friend had the Preston Hollow Plate and really enjoyed it. It was a very simple breakfast plate, but tasty and filling. I had the Hillcrest Pita. Hands down the best breakfast dish I've had in Dallas. It didn't come with any sides, but didn't need to it was so filling. The feta cheese tasted more like goat cheese but in a good way. I can't wait to go back!"

  • "Everything was delicious, but it was FREEZING. a/c was on and certainly wasn't needed. Told the waitress, but it remained cold. That's one way to get your customers out in a hurry. And, make them reluctant to return."

  • "Met a friend for lunch who said she always has a great experience here and loves the light that comes in the windows on sunny days! She had the steak salad and i had the chicken pasta both were done to perfection! I am right handed and had my arm in a cast so i asked the kitchen to cut up my chicken for me, which they did. Saved me from the embarrassment of asking my lunch partner to do it or wearing my lunch in the process of trying to cut it up."

  • "The Woodlands is my favorite restaurant, and only 5 minutes from my house. On this occasion however, there was a table with 4-5 young children next to us, and the kids were loud and jumping up from the table. We were in a back room, so I guess that's why they put this group there. but it was just us and the rambuncous table. I guess it's not the restaurant's fault when people bring their children and don't require them to behave at the table. I came very close to asking them to move us to a different table."
    Dined on 1/18/2014
  • "Requested table instead of booth, but was seated at half booth table. Guest seated before I arrived (host) I did not make ask to move. Second, server came to take our order.. I pointed to my guest to take her order FIRST, but he refused. This was awkward .. again I didn't make a fuss. That should not be a problem. Last, my guest ordered tea after lunch, but got someone's coffee instead, so he had to switch everything. This was a casual lunch, but its the details that become so important when you are attempting to entertain a business client and make a good impression. Our waiter in general was not very friendly or attentive as I have had there in the past. Thank you for considering my comments."
