Woodfire GrillGreat Anniversary DinnerMy wife and I visited the Woodfire Grill for the first time to celebrate our anniversary and the experience couldn't have been better. We did the 7-course tasting menu and everything that the chef prepared was great. The drinks and wine pairings complemented the food well and the service was as good as I have had anywhere.
We would recommend this restaurant anytime.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food and gluten free! The food was amazing. We will definitely go back! The attention they gave to my gluten-free requirement was outstanding as well. They even have a gluten free fryer!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWoodfire GrillWoodfire Grill is amazing. If you are a food lover of any kind this is your restaurant. The service was outstanding and the food was wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMYum!This was our first dinner at woodfire. We love trying new things and were looking for something other than the same ol' ahi tuna and blackened salmon restaurants. Woodfire did not disappoint! We had the chef's 5 course tasting and ended up with an extra dish and a wine pairing because the grill was slow(which we never noticed). The use of sauces, herbs and fresh vegetables were outstanding!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the 5 course tastingWe had the 5 course tasting menu. Food quality great as always. I think Tyler is more creative with his choices than Kevin was.
My only issue with the service was that we were not given an opportunity to order coffee. We simply were handed our check after dessert was served.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMPitch-perfect experienceI took my [crazy] family to Woodfire last Saturday, and we were absolutely blown away by the service and the food. I have been in Atlanta for a year, and without question this was the best overall dining experience I have had. We were a party of 6 and had a small "room" off the main dining room, and it could not have been better—the design was genius. From the hostess to the bartender to the server and the support staff, everyone was extraordinary. The food was also utterly fantastic, and the cocktail menu sublime. Could have been a top five dining experience of all time. My sister and I both worked in fine dining for over a decade, so we like to think we know what we're talking about. THANK YOU!!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLocal, fresh ingredientsWoodfire is a go-to favorite for our family. Their new chef is even more creative and the ingredients are always local and whatever is in season. Never the same menu. Ask for one of the private rooms if it is an occasion, or even if you just want a more secluded dining experience.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat EveningThe five course meal was creative and designed for our eating restrictions. Did I mention delicious?5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMLives up to its reputationWe had a large party and the staff was hands on from our arrival to our coffee at the end. A visit by the chef was a nice gesture as well. Food was excellent and the bar had some craft vodkas that we enjoyed.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AM5th Anniversary Made SpecialI made a reservation at Woodfire Grill for some friends' 5th Wedding Anniversary. They had never been and I wanted to plan something special. Let me say, Woodfire did not disappoint. They raved about their dining experience. They were so impressed they even sent me a few updates during the meal, thanking me for the suggestion. They did the chef's tasting and their enthusiasm grew with each course. The service was impeccable (as it has always been for me) and everyone there made them feel extremely special. And as if they hadn't already been swooned enough, their experience ended with a gorgeous dessert which read: "Happy 5th Anniversary" — the perfect final touch. Thank you to Woodfire & Bernard for making it all happen!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service. Gave us aGreat service. Gave us a special anniversary treat.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic, still! Go there!!Our favorite eatery under the prior owners, we had not been back since it changed hands a couple of years ago. I would not have believed that it could be even better but... We had 8:15pm reservations and were not seated until after 9pm due to some folks who way over-stayed their welcome. Wow did they go out of their way to make it all up to us. They were very apologetic, seated us in a first class, private dining room upstairs at a table for 8 (we were just 4), provided complimentary champagne as an additional gesture of apology and proceeded to go way over the top to see that we were treated wonderfully. Every course was preceeded by a complimentary, delicious little interlude. Excellent in every way! Now our favorite once again.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed our dinner at WoodfireWe enjoyed our dinner at Woodfire Grill immensely. It was our first opportunity to experience the post-Gillespie era and we were a little uncertain what to expect. Our table chose the 7-course chef's menu with pairing wines and each course, some on and some off-menu, was both delicious and unexpected. The hamachi poke was particularly memorable. I don't necessarily require all the foam and dry ice touches, but I appreciate the direction Chef Williams is taking the kitchen.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWoodfire is always excellent,Woodfire is always excellent, especially now with new Chef Tyler. Definitely a perfect evening.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMSeasonal, inspired food offerings,Seasonal, inspired food offerings, a genuine dining pleasure.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff was very patient,The staff was very patient, knowledgeable & accommodating. The head chef personally came to our table & were very concerned with making certain everything was to our liking. This is my second time here, two years apart with different head chefs. Both times were wonderful experiences!! The only downside was the first time I went we had more people and got one of the more private tables. Our table this time was not as great for ambiance.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom the appetizer throughFrom the appetizer through desert this was a wonderful experience. It is so nice to see such a original menu, well thought out and executed from start to finish. This restaurant takes their food offerings more seriously than most and it shows.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a vegetarian and aWe had a vegetarian and a Pescatarian tasting menu. It was well done and nicely presented.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was devine. The serviceFood was devine. The service was impeccable. The chef was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMStunningI recently took a group of clients to Woodfire grill and we had the meal of our life! Unsure of what to choose from the menu, we opted for the blind 5 course tasting menu pair with wines. Our dinner quickly transformed from a night out with friends, to a one of a kind culinary experience. With each course, we raved, we waited for the next course with heavy anticipation. We begged for spoons and biscuits to soak up the sauces left on our plates. We were surprised, amazed, teased with the flavors, presentation and creativity! The wine pairing was sublime, taking the dishes to an entirely new level. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We all carried our menu home with us as a momento of an incredible evening. Stunning.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMit is one of my favorite restaurantit is one of my favorite restaurant in Atlanta. Whenever I come there I go at least once to the place. Tha major asset is to let you feeling as a very important guest: everybody is welcoming you back even if it is after more than 6 months.
the food is very good and I could appreciate this time the new style of the new chef (who also came to greet me and share some ideas).4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe tried the 5 course tastingWe tried the 5 course tasting menu which was a good combination of somewhat unusual and creative dishes along with others that were more known but still beautifully prepared. There is a very young clientele at this restaurant which is exciting to see since it's not your usual seafood and steak restaurant. I particularly loved the pan seared scallops. My least favorite dish was the Canadian halibut brandade. I got to taste the smoked baby beets and they were so so so good!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI had a better experience before ..This time my experience was not so delightful as the first time
I went to this place. The two appetizers I have ordered were both
delicious but my main dish, i.e. pork loin, was a little overcooked
and too spicy. My feeling is that the dishes prepared at the kitchen
are better than the ones prepared on the grill. The restaurant needs
to improve on this part. If it were not for this issue, I would have
rated it 5 stars for food.
One thing I need to congratulate the chef is his willingness to make
special need accommodations (as opposed to the previous chef). In fact,
I seem to like Woodfire Grill better now with the current chef than with
the previous one.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMPhenomenal food with a chefPhenomenal food with a chef who truly takes pride in his creations.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistent and superb as usual.Consistent and superb as usual. Menu was very interesting and tasty.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always have a wonderfulWe always have a wonderful experience at Woodfire Grill. The food and service are both excellent. The new chef (Tyler Williams) is great!4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA perfect evening! We recently took our daughter to the Woodfire Grill for her 20th birthday. We decided to go with the chef's 5 course tasting meal. What a wonderful experience! We were able to sample dishes we never would have tried straight from the menu. The food was inventive, beautifully presented, and wildly delicious. Each dish was an adventure of flavors and textures. We loved the smoked Berkshire pork loin and pork belly rillettes fritter and the "tongue in cheek". The wines really complemented each course. Service was impeccable. We felt pampered when we left. If you want a memorable evening and are willing to try new things, the Woodfire Grill is the perfect place.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a superb meal withWe had a superb meal with the 5 course tasting menu. The food was flavorful and interesting with lots of textures and surprises. The wait staff was fantastic with the service not being rushed, plates removed as needed, and water and wine glasses kept full. We were celebrating our anniversary and they acknowledged it both verbally and with a customized menu. Further, our dessert plate had Happy Anniversary written on it in chocolate! It was a delightful evening, with a welcoming staff throughout the restaurantm and the chef even stopped by to talk with us. We highly recommend Woodfire Grill.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second trip toThis was our second trip to Woodfire since chef Tyler Williams took the helm and we were blown away. The food was outstanding. The focus has shifted from "upscale southern" to more of a global focus. Every dish was a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds. We have dined here for years on a regular basis and are thrilled that the ownership of the restaurant were able to find a new chef that is able to ably to take over the kitchen. As usual the service was the best in town by far. From the moment we walked in the door every employee does their best to make sure their customers have the best dining experience possible. It seems that Woodfire Grill and chef Tyler Williams are a match made in food heaven!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food.Wonderful experience. Excellent food! It remains to be seen whether
this was a one time experience or whether consistency will be maintained.
I like the current chef better than the previous one.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was outstanding....veryThe food was outstanding....very interesting in taste & presentation. The cocktails were interesting & delicious. The servers were very pleasant and attentive, but the food was unusually slow in arriving to our table. I loved everything about the evening and would return and highly recommend to others - except too much time between courses. The noise level was quiet because our party of 6 was placed in a private alcove - a pleasant surprise for a special, rare, family dinner.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Woodfire Grill is oneThe Woodfire Grill is one of the most expensive restaurants we've been to in Atlanta but the service was outstanding and the wine list is unbelieveable. The owner personally shared his experience with us and helped us make the wine selection which was best for us. The result was amazing. It's hard to say any meal is worth over $200 but this one came close.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always enjoy Woodfire Grill. We always enjoy Woodfire Grill. Tyler the new chef had some big shoes to fill when he followed after Kevin Gillespie into the kitchen. He totally killed it! His food was delicious with amazing presentations. He also walked around the dining room a few times and was so cordial and interested in opinions. We travel often and don't get to this wonderful restaurant enough but we will be back as soon as we get back into town. Thanks Nick! It was great to see you and your staff!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMMeeting Chef Tyler WilliamsWe have had dinner at Woodfire several times over the last 3 years but this was one of the best experiences we have had. Chef Williams is very talented and very friendly. He went out of his way to make sure our dining experience was a fabulous one. We were seated next to the grill where the Chef works. We enjoy this restaurant very much not only for the excellent food but for the wonderful service. They go out of their way to get to know each guest. We are relocating to Florida in May but will definitely plan a weekend trip back to Atlanta to have dinner at this fine restaurant. I highly recommend an evening at Woodfire Grill.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMHad the five course tastingHad the five course tasting menu with wine pairing. It was delicious! The service was top notch. I think Chef Tyler has done Chef Kevin proud!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly Recommend!!!An outstanding meal, creatively prepared, and phenomenal service!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMYou have to try this restaurant! After making my reservation, a very polite person called to confirm it, ask about food allergies and what was the occasion. I was very impressed.
Food and desserts where fantastic, and our server was very polite and patient. One of the chefs came to our table three times to make sure we were al happy with our dinner. All seven of us coincided that this restaurant is five stars. My fish was really cooked for perfection, it was exquisite. The wines and desserts were excellent.
Having valet parking was a nice detail. Customers were a little snobby, so get your Sunday clothes out, so you don't mismatch with the rest of the customers :)
For the quality of the food, I believe the prices are reasonable.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AM"Outstanding" not high enoughOthers may differ, but we believe after many visits that Woodfire Grill is the finest restaurant in Atlanta. They usually have us just walking in the door, with the fabulous aromas coming from the wood-burning oven, and the always pleasant greetings from the host or hostess. This time they went over the top -- how many times have you visited a restaurant that was waiting with your favorite cocktails already ordered? That was just the beginning. The food (some even brought to the table and explained by Chef Tyler) was absolutely fabulous -- pea soup and roasted pork loin like you have never had them before. And if you guess this special treatment was accorded us because we are "somebody," we aren't. This is just how they are.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways love returningAlways enjoy ourselves and the notes they take and keep for their returning customers is phenomenal! We also love that you get a list of the foods and wines after a tasting dinner...and that they offer wine that you can get in a locally...awesome!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAtlanta has many great restaurantsAtlanta has many great restaurants and this one tops the list
We actually had diner while sitting at bar. Had the pleasure
Of having Bartender Blake tend to our dining needs.
His pairing of wines with courses was impressive.
Also half pours are available which is a great approach.
Looking forward to another return dinner when in town again.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe visited for my husband'sWe visited for my husband's birthday. Our server, Maureen, was wonderful! She went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and she also worked very well with our food allergies. Thanks Maureen!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe new chef, Tyler Williams,The new chef, Tyler Williams, has greatly updated and enhanced the menu. Dishes are more contemporary and playful while still highlighting the restaurant's namesake grill. If time and budget permit, spring for the 5 or 7 course tasting menu. A couple of very minor quibbles -- one dish was on the verge of being overseasoned, and one dish was a bit busy -- but the overall meal was fantastic. The outstanding cocktail program is also worth a mention. I would rank Woodfire Grill just below Atlanta standouts Bacchanalia and Restaurant Eugene, but it is definitely of that class. Already looking forward to my next visit.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMDate Night Splurge... worth it!We did the blind 5 course tasting with the wine pairing. We both agreed it was the best food experience we'd ever had. Love the restaurant's commitment to fresh, local food. We're not from the area but hope to go back some day.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I have eaten hereMy wife and I have eaten here before but not since the new chef was named. We absolutely loved the food!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Exceptional ExperienceMy wife and I began a special night out at Woodfire, and were rewarded by the experience. The bartender and our waitress were delightful. The drinks were excellent. And the chef's tasting menu was utterly divine.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI love the relaxed feel ofI love the relaxed feel of this place - dark, small and cozy – like a comfortable living room. I definitely would recommend trying the Chef's Blind Wine Dinner which was amazing!! Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were delectable. We had a choice of 5 course dinner or 7 course dinner with wine pairings...we chose the 5 course and loved it! The basket of bread was divine and each wine choice complimented the perfectly prepared food! We loved being surprised at what the chef had prepared and our favorite was the venison carpaccio. DIVINE!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe neighborhood is a littleThe neighborhood is a little uh... unbecoming. But the meal is one of the best I've ever had.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMVery expensive disappointmentVery embarassingly small portions. Way overpriced.
Waiter suggested that only entree would not be enough
Food. That we needed to order at least one appetizer
To go with entree. Very sad experience.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful WoodfireDinner at Woodfire Grill was an excellent experience. The food and its presentation were both very impressive. The Kobe Beef tartar was fabulous as was the Himalayan Salt Stone Tuna, along with everything else we had. The farm to table aspect is very impressive, especially with the amount of farms they have relations with. The atmosphere was very nice, for late on a Tuesday night there were still quite a few other tables there and the staff was pleasant and enhanced our experience. Everyone we spoke to was very knowledgeable and friendly. Upon leaving we were given individually wrapped home made cookies and the chef walked us to our cab and opened the door for us. I was very impressed and would recommend this restaurant to anyone.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was OUTSTANDINGThe service was OUTSTANDING as was the food. Highly recommended!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
