Every time I eat here, the menu is different. I love that feature of Woodberry Kotchen. Each season brings new farm fresh offerings that are prepared deliciously in unique ways. Ditto for the scrumptious desserts. Looking forward to my next experience.

  • Third and Last Visit
    OpenTable Diner Since 2010

My first visit was great and set my expectations for future visits. Sadly none of the later visits lived up to the first. As far as food, I ordered the Ribeye (medium rare) - a $45 steak. It was the toughest cut of meat I've ever had - so disappointing. This meal did not live up to the hype or even the cost. I've always been seated in the main dining room. The noise level is terrible. I don't know if that's by design, but the tables are so close together, I was literally physically closer to the person beside me at the next table than I was with the person across from me with whom I was dining. So I had no problem hearing the conversation of others but had to strain to hear my dining partner. I won't be going back.

  • Tiny "table for two".
    OpenTable Diner Since 2011
    Dined on 8/24/2014
Went on a Sunday night to celebrate a birthday. We were seated upstairs at a table so small and so close to adjacent tables there was zero privacy. It was a beautiful Sunday evening however upstairs it was noisy and stuffy. There was no room on our tiny table for an ice bucket for our bottle of wine. I had to ask our distracted waitress to bring an ice bucket after our dinner plates were cleared. We sat looking at our lovely dinners for about 5 minutes because our waitress had forgotten to replace our flatware and could not be flagged down. The food was very good, lived up to our expectations. They need fewer tables in the upstairs area, we now know to specify not to be seated up there and we were very disappointed with our server.

All the food was delicious, especially the Mac and Cheese. We had a bit of a snafu with our server - we order two appetizers and two "small plates." The appetizers came out at the same time, but the server had assumed that we would also be sharing our small plates so she delivered one, and then it was quite a while before the second was delivered, and since my friend and I weren't sharing that, it took much later than desired for that second plate. Would have been nice for her to confirm how/when to bring those out.

In my last review of Woodberry I was a bit less than glowing because of a long wait time and a couple menu items that fell short of expectations. This dining experience made up for that and then some! Everything was EXCEPTIONAL - the outdoor atmosphere, the food, the drinks, and the service. I could not have been more pleased and the same goes for the other six people in my party. And I have to give Woodberry kudos because they remembered my concerns and went out of the way to address them. A total class act.

We were really excited to get brunch reservations, as we were in Baltimore for just the weekend and had heard great things about Woodberry Kitchen. They asked if we wanted to be seated outside, and we said sure as long as we were in the shade (it was bright and sunny). They said no problem and put us under an umbrella. Service was incredibly slow. Incredibly slow. The hostess asked what kind of water we wanted when she sat us, and we never got the water until they were ready to take our order. The waitress was rarely in sight, so it was useless to try to tell her that we did not receive all of the food we ordered. Half way through our meal they moved the umbrellas so we were in direct sunlight. Not going back.

The food was good, but the prices didn't match the quality. Drinks were expensive, but that wouldn't be so bad if they served their drinks in at least a normal size glass and not some swanky, NYC, upscale, high end restaurant using super large plates and shot glasses for ice tea and drinks. The other complaint would be that the server told us that they didn't have lemon for water because they want to keep everything locally grown and citrus can't be grown in the area. I guess they grow their own coffee beans in Baltimore now, but no lemon. Okay.

We had a great night at WK. The food was amazing - highly recommend the deviled eggs and crab pot (crab dip). There were 4 of us and we had a 9pm reservation on a Saturday. We arrived at 8pm and they were able to seat us at 8:40 (outside). We sat around the bonfire and had drinks while waiting for our table. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. My only complaint was that the drinks were very expensive and VERY weak - to the point where I would be surprised if the mixed drinks had any alcohol in them. It was around $330 for the 4 of us (including 11 drinks - 4 of them "mixed" - the rest straight). The peach cobbler was amazing. We enjoyed sitting outside to eat. I would definitely return.

We tried several small plates this time. Mozzarella and tomatoes, peach salad and flat bread was amazing. The green bean side with peanuts were incredible. I also had the crab with egg noddles. The egg noddles were fantastic, but I wasn't a big fan of the flavore of the sauce. I'm not a huge jalepano fan, so this is really just personal preference. The service was great too. We really do love this place

I've been to Woodberry kitchen twice now in the last 3 months. The service is always good, the ambience is good as well. Good for dates, especially the outdoor dining area. There's a bonfire area that gives you a "camping feel" as well. Portion sizes are small and food taste is average but I'll still recommend it just for the dining experience.

Food was just okay. We had 3 vegetarians in our group and we had extremely limited options. There were 2 veg only dishes, but neither had carbs or protein so it wasn't a complete meal. It wasn't possible to get protein through any of the veg apps or side dishes either. Disappointed.

Have to admit disappointment. We have eaten here many times, although not recently. I think the locavore thing is being taken to an overly pretentious level when my husband was told he could not have a lime in his gin and tonic as the restaurant "no longer has citrus." By the way, my wine was from France... Our entrees were apparently either forgotten by the kitchen or not put in by the waitress. We were actually comped an appetizer and a crabcake by the executive chef to make up for the error, but all in all this was not the best dining experience. Time to get back to the original Woodberry Kitchen.

We were at Woodberry for our 35th Wedding anniversary, had heard a lot about it. We heard that it was crowded and noisy, which it was. However, we thought the atmosphere was great, but can see how others would be turned off by it. Food was outstanding ! Nice touch bringing out our desserts on a plate with "Happy 35th Anniversary" written in chocolate. Minor complaints" 1. The website is very much out of date. Directions indicated to turn on Union Avenue and look for the house with the large sign...we saw no sign and ended up coming around from the back. Site looked like it had not been update in years. 2. We were never asked if we wanted another drink. Both minor issues. All in all, we really enjoyed ourselves and had a great evening !

The whole evening was one plate of deliciousness after another. My date and I made a meal of the top sections of the menu (starters, snacks, etc) and never bothered with entrees -- better sharing that way. We had corn/crab soup (delicious!!), a rocket salad that took salad to new heights of flavor, smoked swordfish belly w/noodles that was only outdone by the amazing comfort food that is their mac 'n' cheese (so gooey and cheesy and flavorful it almost made me feel guilty for feeling the need to ask our server if it was worth ordering). Currently (late August) anything that has tomatoes in it (including the tomato gravy on the shrimp and grits) is OUT OF THIS WORLD because the tomatoes are at peak perfection. Don't skip dessert either!!

I have been to woodberry many times in the past but this time really fell short of the mark. We sat outside at a table that was directly in the sun, and when we asked to have them adjust the umbrellas so that we were shaded, they were less than accommodating and we ended up moving to a table that wasn't much better. There were tables with children on either side and they were very loud and distracting. The service was average at best and I was not satisfied with the meal I ate. Usually the food at woodberry is excellent, but this experience rubbed me wrong. Don't know if I will be back.

We brought two out-of-town guests to Sunday brunch . . . and they're already planning to visit again on their next trip. The food and atmosphere are incredible. The food is fresh, the drinks are fun - and the pace is luxuriously casual. We didn't feel rushed at all as we sipped french-pressed coffee and cocktails in the late morning sun. Our waitress was a little aloof and we had to prompt her for water refills - but the food and ambiance make up for any lacking service.
