Diner Reviews
  • "I loved the food. But wish servers could bring cocktails first, without food. A chance to enjoy how good there are. By themselves. You would sell more by the glass wine, and we would Feel more relaxed."

  • "I love the restaurant but ordered the wrong thing and was disappointed."

  • "Interesting take on sangria. Pan-roasted chicken was cooked to perfection. Soft-shell crab was tastefully simple. Server was well-versed in the menu."

  • "We celebrated our Wedding Anniversary at the Woodberry Kitchen. So glad we did! What an amazing place. Linda, our server, was just delightful and so knowledgeable. The food was impeccable, with so much selection. We tried 8 small plates, and all were amazing. LOVE that they have non-alcoholic drinks made with finesse. This will surely become one of our favorites!"

  • "While I was not blown away by our meal at Woodberry Kitchen, I enjoyed it very much. Maybe there was just too much hype going in. We grazed on several small plates and had a lovely dessert. The service was excellent: attentive and friendly, not overbearing."

  • "Outstanding meal. Fantastic service and excellent food."

  • "Average at best. Steak tartar app was served with potato chips that weren't completely cooked, in fact still wet and sticking together. Scallops were only seared on 1 side and not cooked through. Braised beef was OK however the grits served with it were dry and clumped together. Service was irritating. One example, 3 of us sitting at a 4 seat table and the waiter kept placing the water and wine bottles directly in between us instead of where I kept moving them to..seems petty but very annoying. Most annoying, placed the reservation, received 2 confirmation emails, 2 calls asking for a call back, I called back twice and was hung on twice...the emails are enough. Not worth the hassle to make another reservation."

  • "Woodberry Kitchen accomplishes its mission to bring fresh local fare to diners with style. The restaurant is tucked into a 19th century mill complex that's being renovated into upscale residences and shops. The restaurant has an industrial chic patio that's a lovely setting for summer dining. Servers were friendly and knowledgeable, but a tad slow. Refreshing Ruby Sour cocktail and Victory Prima Pils craft beer. Snacks were simple, and while the beet pickled eggs were flavorful, not so much the bland cucumber yogurt dip. No complaints with the succulent Rettland Farm entrees of pork tenderloin and tender roasted chicken and biscuit. You better save room for dessert. I'm still thinking about that Sour Cherry Sundae. Special place!"

  • "My husband and I went here for our 7th wedding anniversary. For appetizers we ordered Mac and cheese which was excellent and crab dip. The crackers were a little too hard but not bad. Dinner was good not great we ordered the pork chop with succotash, chicken dinner that included carrots, collard greens, and a biscuit with a side of scalloped potatoes. For desert we ordered grape sorbet and cookie dough ice cream. On our plate someone wrote "Happy 7th Anniversary " in chocolate on our plate. I was disappointed that they removed the desert " the kitchen sink" but that's fine. All and all I like woodberry kitchen but this time it felt different and not in a good way. I think next year I want to celebrate our anniversary somewhere else."

  • "Great brunch and attentive but not overbearing service in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Don't expect conventional breakfast food; all the dishes were creatively interpreted so good place for foodies. My only disappointment was the pancake -- the take on this was much too creative. At breakfast, a pancake really should taste like a pancake. And one criticism: coffee was delicious but very, very slow to arrive."

  • "This was a fantastic place for our Anniversary. The food was amazing and the service was fun and kept us laughing. Ask for Linda, she was great. Everyone there made our night memorable and it was obvious to us that the staff liked their jobs because they did such a great job. Looking forward to returning very soon."

  • "Second time here, and the food was just as impressive as the first. We did have an issue with an undercooked fish, but it was quickly resolved, removed from the check, and we received a free desert. An exemplary professional way to handle such a problem. Definitely recommend Woodberry as the best restaurant in Baltimore, and quite possibly the best food you'll have anywhere."

  • "Was my first time ever coming to this restaurant. The feel just walking in was awesome: very classy and romantic. The drink/cocktail list had a great selection and I went with what the waitress recommended. The food was SO fresh. Definitely recommend trying it out!"

  • "I loved this place. Food was awesome. Service staff was awesome. Only complaint... they're too busy! Sounds counterintuitive; that's the objective after all. There is so much information on the menu that you want to pull up a chair for your server so that they can explain it all... but they don't have time. The product is amazing. Definitely recommend to anyone who hasn't had the pleasure."

  • "We love going to this restaurant every time we are in Maryland. We travel almost an hour to go to brunch and every time it had been a great experience in the past. This past Saturday however, it was a very disappointing one. The server was so unattentive . She took our order but after that we had to search for her to ask for condiments. My dish (Beau's breakfast) was so greasy I could not finish it. I hope this was a one time bad experience as in the past the food and service has been outstanding."

  • "This place is so popular that I was lucky to snag a 9pm reservation on a Saturday night. Well worth the wait. Went on double date. Food is excellent. Service is wonderful. The entire staff was smiling and friendly. Free valet parking is a plus. Highly recommend trying."

  • "As opposed to previous visits, we didn't have to wait even five minutes, our waiter was excellent, knowledgeable, FRIENDLY. Food was outstanding. I had sworn off Woodberry-Got a gift card so decided to try it one last time. Glad we did. Will go back."

  • "The food is here amazing. The menu changes periodically, but there is never a bad meal on the menu. The crap pot is a must and any of the seafood dishes are great. They even hAve vegetarian dishes."

  • "There were missteps during our meal that my husband and I find unacceptable for such a high-priced meal. He ordered the scallops and only got three average-sized ones for his dinner. Also, our waiter knowingly switched my wine to a Virgina white from a California chardonnay without telling me until I complained about it. The atmosphere was crowded and noisy, by design I assume, but it was not enjoyable for us."

  • "Our 3rd time at Woodberry, and it's never lived up to its rave reviews. Our waiter was friendly, nice and efficient but way TOO efficient. I think I talked to him more than my husband, as he appeared constantly. It was overbearing--especially when he brought a dessert menu while we were eating our entree, and brought the check while we were eating dessert. We felt unwelcome and rushed, and we were out of there in about 30 minutes. My husband's martini was terrible and came with no olives, despite his asking for 3.We shared a flatbread which was much too salty. And our dessert was supposed to have blackberry sherbet but had ice cream instead. (When I asked our waiter about it, he brought us sherbet.) For what you pay there, I expect better."

  • "On our first visit we had pork cheak that was available because butching was done on premises. When we inquired on our visit we learned they no longer due butchering on premis but brought in, some of the charm is gone."

  • "Always superb food and service. Inside is too noisy, but outside was delightful, probably because of July 4, especially quiet, and rapid service. The entrées are wonderful, the only difficulty is making a choice. A great summer time restaurant, I only wish they would install some sound deadening materials so I could enjoy it in the winter. Several years ago, on one occasion only, they had a bad night. Food was less than great. I pointed this out, expecting them to delete my entrée it from the bill. Instead, they insisted that the whole meal (3 of us) and wine was on the house. Definitely a class act!! I highly recommend the roast chicken -- absolutely succulent-- and the tavern steak."

  • "Woodberry Kitchen was on our list of restaurants to try for some time now. We chose to celebrate our 26th anniversary there & were happy that we did. We sat upstairs in a great corner booth that was very private & quiet. Our server, Pearl, was lovely. Very attentive, but not over the top. She made excellent recommendations & came back often to check on us. Very interesting cocktails; definitely try one. Food was absolutely delicious!! So fresh, flavorful & creatively prepared! We loved everything, but you must get the appetizer with beets & the rockfish entree. Save room for dessert because the sundae that we shared was delicious! Can hardly wait to come back & try some of the other things on the menu."

  • "We had a wonderful time. The pork chop and scallops were scrumptious. The cucumber salad was refreshing on a very hot evening. The Mac and cheese was to die for. The butterscotch pudding was delightful. We had to have two. Overall a tremendous experience."

  • "Woodberry Kitchen is my go-to choice for a special occasion. If I am having dinner with my boss and clients, I know that the staff at Woodberry will take great care of them. From the moment we arrive, until we depart at the end of the evening, the staff is gracious, welcoming and knowledgeable. The food is amazing and the menu always has a wide range of comfort foods and exciting local ingredients."

  • "Woodberry Kitchen is always a favorite and it was a special request for my dad to go there for Father's Day. I felt the service was not up to par this time. My dad was brought the incorrect entree and it took about 20 minutes for the correct dish to arrive. While I understand this is an easy mistake, we were not compensated at all for this error. The waiter barely even apologized and rarely checked in on our table. I just did not appreciate that our food was getting cold while we waited SO long for the correct entree."

  • "It was a last minute Monday night dinner- took my Mom & had a wonderful time. Our server was great & really knew the menu- there were many things on there that we had questions about that he was happy to answer. Things that I probably would have never thought to order were amazing. Beautiful place & a great meal !!!"

  • "What can I say??? We have been fortunate enough to only live 15 minutes away from Woodberry Kitchen and have been dining there every year since they opened... Spike and his staff are extremely talented and I have not eaten at a restaurant that is more consistent in quality, presentation, and taste than Woodberry. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu.... My only complaint is that their pickled vegetables are so popular that if you snooze you lose... No pickled veggies this meal :-( My wife and I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!"

  • "Went here with a group of 5 for Sunday brunch. The restaurant is really cute. Our food, coffee, and drinks were all delicious and amazing, but the service left a lot to be desired. I realize that brunch is a busy time, but our server was less than attentive. About 15 minutes after ordering beer, wine, and cocktails, they had still not arrived. Our server never stopped by to check on us, so we had to flag someone else down to get them for us. It then took at least 30 minutes for our food to arrive. Our server never stopped by to let us know it was being worked on or to apologize for the wait. The food was worth it, but don't go here if you've got a time crunch."

  • "It was my wife's birthday so as a special treat I made reservations. When we entered the restaurant they seated us at the end of a group of tables directly in front of the wood burning oven, which means most of the orders, and traffic, were coming through this area. I have been to rock concerts where it wasn't as noisy. I ordered a dirty martini, they waitress came back a few minutes later and said the bartender didn't have some of the ingredients, so no martini. Every thing else was pretty good, if a little expensive. If you go, as you come into the restaurant on your right is a smaller room that seemed as though it would be less noisy and crowded, a much better choice unless you enjoy not being able to have a conversation."

  • "First, the food was AH-mazing. One of the best meals I've had in a long time (for a pretty reasonable price point). We sat outside, which was nice, since they had umbrellas. Until a waitress in the section adjacent to ours moved our umbrella off of us & onto one of her tables. Our waiter was very accommodating (as were the adjacent tables), so we all just squeezed together. You would think they could buy more umbrellas. Back to our waiter, he was (due to word limitations) fabulous. He also was able to discreetly handle a birthday request and a surprise to-go order. The night after brunch, however, was not so fabulous for anyone in my party. The only thing we all tasted was the chicken & biscuits, and WOAH...it was 9 hours of zero fun."

  • "This is the best restaurant of its kind, the staff was knowledgable and kind, the food delicious and interesting and the ambiance and decor were great."

  • "This restaurant is just always spot on. I was there with two girlfriends to celebrate my birthday. They were able to honor my request to sit outside which was quiet and very nice. The menu options were interesting and perfect for a summer night. We tried the chilled noodle salad (amazing), beets on crostini (yum), summer squash flatbread (light with a little kick of spice), fresh mozzarella (nice), and mac and cheese (gooey, creamy and delicious). We tried the new version of CMP for dessert which even came out on a personalized plate with Happy Birthday written on it and a candle which was such a nice touch! Wonderful evening, will of course be back again!"

  • "My wife and I had dinner last Saturday at Woodberry Kitchen for date night. I like to think we are fairly picky when it comes to restaurants, but Woodberry Kitchen is among the best. Cocktails, wine list, appetizers, main course, dessert all outstanding. If I had to offer a criticism, the cocktails took a while from the bar, but this is largely because they are hand crafted! My steak was maybe one minute too long on the grill, but all in all, just excellent. One of the best restaurants in the Baltimore-DC area, along with Charleston, Fleet Street Market, Bartlett Pear."
