Diner Reviews
  • "This restaurant is one of my favorites in LA. Great atmosphere - cool masculine, industrial but very sexy vibe. The food and drinks awesome. They made a custom coffee martini for us - delicious! We will be back."

  • "The food was excellent. Well prepared, flavorful and I liked the way it was presented - A tray, plate or bowl set at the table to be shared. The appetizer was great, a small basket of bread with our choices of meats, cheeses and spreads. Service was excellent - polite, fun and knowledgeable. We ate out on the back patio, a space not unlike the back patio of many of our friends, casual and comfortable. Even though we had a great outdoor dining experience, I would not say this is a great place for outdoor dining, the view consists only of buildings and sky. The location is very convenient to the Red-Line Hollywood Vine station and across the street from the Pantages theater."

  • "It was difficult to find something open on a Sunday afternoon in Hollywood for a film screening celebration. Found Wood & Vine on Open Table and we were all blown away. The tasting plates are big, imaginative and delicious, the portions just right for sharing. Easily worked for our party of 8.. Wonderful server, decent wine, and a perfectly appropriate bill. Highly recommend."

  • "Overall had a good experience at Wood & Vine. The hostess wasn't too pleasant when we first arrived...it was very, very windy outside, and we were sat on their outdoor patio (which I would have loved, had it not been so breezy). We asked her politely if we would be able to be moved inside, and we were met with a bit of an "are you serious" attitude. However, once seated upstairs, our server and service was great, and the food and drinks were superb."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed a show at the theater across the street and were excited to revisit Wood & Vine afterward. I'm not sure what happened in the year or so since we went, but the food was average ... at best. The pork meatballs tasted like something you'd get at Cost Co and then "dress up". We even had to return a seafood dish that was the worst rendition of the dish I have ever tasted. On a positive note, the cocktails were great! If only I have a handful more it might have made up for the dining experience. At least I would have forgotten about it."

  • "3 of us shared the dishes. The portions were small for the price. We did enjoy the ribs and chicken and waffle dishes. They were tasty. The pasta dish was ok.. Had a strong lemon flavor. The wine was the best Riesling that I gave had. They bring the dishes out one at a time which was nice. We didn't mind eating at a slow pace. Also had the Kale salad which was very bitter. You really couldn't taste the dressing. Overall I give the restaurant a 3 and I will not return."

  • "The food was good, but arrived too quickly. Many of the dishes are smaller plates and meant to be shared. Spacing out their arrival would have made the table less crowded and a little more of a less rushed feeling on our parts."

  • "Given the overall good rating we were eager to try this place..... BUT ....... Sadly the food the food was just "meh" .... Mediocre at best."

  • "A great place to stop in pre-theater for a cocktail and a bite. The truffle/rosemary fries are awesome. The rest of the food is good, nothing exceptional. Mussels were super tiny but in a delicious curry lemongrass broth, brussel sprouts were also good, meatballs were flavorless. Great patio in the back and nice dining upstairs too. Worth a return visit but I'd stick to the bar snacks."

  • "They tried to seat us at first at a tiny table at a busy corner next to the busboy station upstairs where it smelled like fried food. They graciously accommodated us an gave us a table on the patio. It's a pretty fun menu with interesting shared dishes. I would go again but request a table on the patio."

  • "how can a restaurant run out of Brussels sprouts when there' was a Farmers' Market across the road that morning. 3 of the dishes we requested were not available that evening. and apart from the chicken what was on the menu was only average."

  • "I went with 3 friends before seeing The Book of Mormon across the street at The Pantages. We were seated right away even though we were a little late for our reservation, and we were seated outside by our request. The service was great, our food came out quickly, the drinks were perfect, and the ambiance was warm and romantic. Inside by the bar was a little noisy, so if you want something more personal I suggest sitting outside, even if the weather is a little cold, they have heat lamps and a strong fire pit to keep you warm, and the wind is blocked by tall buildings on all four sides. The portions are small, we ordered 4 different plates and a side if fries to share with the whole table, that was perfect for the 4 of us."

  • "Visited Wood and Vine for the third time this past Friday. As usual the food was excellent and the service great. We experienced the La Habra earthquake while we were there and being all Angelenos we didn't blink an eye, but I heard one of the servers ran outside haha. The Swedish couple sitting next to us were a little freaked out but it broke the ice and we all became friends after. A great spot to eat before you hit the Hollywood scene."

  • "Went here before watching a show at Pantages. Location was really convenient for the show as it's literally across the street. The place was cute with a nice outside patio, which is where we sat. We had to change our reservation because we were running late and they were accommodating. Hostess was friendly as well, our waiter was the only one who was 'eh' in terms or service. He seemed a bit stuck up when discussing the menu. When we asked some questions about various items he answered in a way that seemed we were supposed to already know the answers. Other than that we enjoyed the dinner. It's tapas style and food comes out as it's ready. Would recommend if you're looking for a convenient place to eat before catching a show."

  • "Food, atmosphere, and service were all great. We went before the show and it had a good vibe. Great place for lighter fare, and easy, relaxing socializing, good space ! Food is interesting, tapa's style !"

  • "Just accross the Pantageas Theater. Food was nothing less than terrific. Service was great and sensitive to our timeline."

  • "This is a hot spot for dinner before a play at the Pantages and for that purpose reservations should be made in advance. It is loud and vibrant on the inside and a little quieter on the outside patio so specify where you want to be seated. The food is imaginative specializing in shared small plates. The tastes are good which is convincing that the chefs know what they are doing. The service delivers the food when ready and not all at the same time which is why sharing plates is encouraged. A quieter experience can be had after 8pm when the theater goers leave for the play and I imagine the ambiance is transformed to a more romantic setting."

  • "Small food plate selection (Tapas). We enjoyed all the selections we made. Can be noisy if you sit inside, try to get the patio. The bar order was slow, but we were there during a very busy time. The service personnel were very attentive. We will go back in the future."

  • "Some friends recommended Wood & Vine and since we were going to see a show at the Pantages across the street, we gave it a try. The food (served as small plates) was unusual but well-prepared and tasty -- the hand-torn pasta with asparagus, the chicken liver mousse, the beef short ribs with cous cous, and the brussels sprouts were the biggest hits at our table. Most guests sit outside in the rear patio, which features a couple of fire-pit tables for large groups. It was comfortable enough, but we were directly under a speaker playing music, which made conversation difficult until our server lowered the volume. We will likely return when we plan another night of theater; you can't beat the combination of good food and a great location."

  • "We had a wonderful evening at the Wood and Vine. The food was small portions but able to try many different plates. We were seated right away no wait. The waitress and server were very attentive to all our needs. I would definitely will go back again."

  • "I have been here before and typically go before a show at the Pantages and my previous experiences have always been pleasurable. This past visit, however, was not. From the start we were not greeted by the hostess as she chatted with her fellow hostess. Finally, getting her attention she sat us and the server seemed to be overwhelmed with the half filled restaurant. As we had limited time before the show, we ordered all our food and drinks at the same time. But we received our main course before our drinks and our appetizers didn't come till the end. This may seem trivial, but the price you pay for this type of restaurant, I would like them to at least have our drinks arrive before our food."

  • "We came here after The Book of Mormon in the Pantages. The location is very convenient and easy to get in and out of, they have discounted valet parking at the W hotel. The food was great, perfect for sharing. Friendly and attentive service."

  • "Wood and Vine is conveniently located across the street from the Pantages theater in Hollywood. We arrived 30 minutes late due to bad traffic, and although our reservation was given to someone else (we didn't call to warn them we were going to be late), the manager did an excellent job of finding a table for us. We enjoyed creative cocktails and excellent food in a nice outdoor patio strung with lights. My salmon plate was fabulous (I didn't taste my husband's meal because I don't eat meat), and I also enjoyed the kale salad. The service was very good, and our server kept track of the time for us since she knew we were going to a show. We loved only having to walk a short distance across the street to the Pantages! A perfect evening!"

  • "Loved this place and food but slightly disappointed with service. We were a group of five and came after the Pantages matinee. We do understand there were a lot of people going to evening performance but this left us waiting and waiting for one dish and the deserts ordered. Also lack of attention to see how we were near end of our dinner I have reccomended"

  • "We dined at Wood & Vine before going across the street to see "The Book Of Mormon". Food choices are varied and interesting. They serve local organic, and offer unusual dishes. It's served tapas style, so that's great for trying various dishes, and not having too much of something you may not care for as much. The service was quite good, though we had to get someone's attention twice to refill our water glasses. We sat upstairs, and it's an open ceiling below, so the noise carries up to the 2nd floor eating area. It varied from medium to rather loud at times, but the place was packed, as many were headed to the theater. I recommend it."

  • "Perfect place to eat before or after seeing a show at the Pantages. Located across the street from the theater they have great food. Everything comes on small plates making it fun to share with your group. Highly recommend the short rib with pearl couscous and the butterscotch pot. Definitely try one of their signature cocktails...or two."

  • "The portions are small and meant to be shared. The menu was varied and catered to all kinds of desires, be it vegetarian or otherwise. The wife and I had dinner at Wood & Vine before a show at The Pantages. Our reservation was for 5:30, leaving us plenty of time to make our 8:00 show. We arrived on time, we were promptly seated, and our food and drinks were brought out quickly. We ordered the Chef's Choice Charcuterie, Roasted Cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and finished out dinner with Chicken and Waffles. Everything was really tasty, and while the portions were on the small side, we had just enough room for dessert at the end of the night. For dessert, we split a Butterscotch Pot de Creme and boy did it live up to the hype!"

  • "the food was quite expensive for not being very tasteful. The cheese appetizers were very small. The fried chicken was good. The chicken and waffles, waffles were cold and dry. Overall experience was good, left not hungry but not quite satisfied."

  • "Gosh, I had no idea the back part of the restaurant was OUTTDOORS, and even with the patio heaters it was chilly, the staff were lucky, they walked around with coats on. Menu is real;ly short, yet they still had run out of a couple of items (at 6pm!!!!). Food came as they called it, family style, in other words whenever any dish is ready. I took their HOUSE SPECIAL, which ended up being fried, battered chicken (dry) on a waffle!!! Waffle rhymes with awful.."
