A word from Wolfgang's Steak House - Times Square
With 4 decades of experience, Wolfgang Zwiener didn't duplicate an exceptional steakhouse, he improved on it to make Wolfgang's Steakhouse exceptional. The porterhouse steak for one, two, four or more, is an outstanding choice. The atmosphere, expanded menu & professional service will appeal to even the most exacting diners. Wolfgang's is pleased to add this location in the heart of Midtown East.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Food was outstanding! Restaurant has a nice open feel and is great looking. As most steakhouses on the very expensive side; perfect for a special occasion or if you want to impress someone at a business lunch or dinner (also nice bar for just drinks). I am accustomed to the superior service at 'will remain nameless' and there was no comparison. Again, food is fantastic and service is just okay."

  • "We were a party of six with very mixed comments after dinner... Drinks: well made cocktails Bread Basket: Very ordinary Waiter: Did his job Serving: Had no ides who ordered what...sloppy! Salads: Caesar= VG House=VG Main Course: Steak for two: Ok, but lacked sufficient flavor (not at Peteer Lugar's level of excellence) Filet: Good/Average Veggies/Sides: Spinach had the texture of glue German Pot: very good Broc: non-descript We passesd on dessert & coffee. Overall, on a 1-10 scale...Dinner was a "7". Did not offer value for the money!!"

  • "The food is good but overpriced. The wait staff needs training. Our entire meal the waiters were standing by a table close to wear we were eating. It was very uncomfortable. Thought the waiters were smug and not friendly. Maybe it was an off night but I won't go back, which is too bad because the food was good."

  • "food n interior are good. however service of waitress was not good. they rushes customer to choose menu while they are still looking at menu. despite asking for drink menu, they just verbally say the most expensive one and not giving us options."

  • "My husband and I visited NY for the first time 7/14. Our anniv fell on our last night in NY and we wanted to find a nice restaurant near our hotel the theater we would be visiting to see Newsies. What a fantastically lucky find! My husband researched a few restaurants in the area and decided on Wolfgang's. He had filet mignon-I had salmon. Both were fantastic! Not only were they prepared PERFECTLY, but the portions were extremely generous! We were both very surprised. We both left food on our plates which was disappointing because we had to leave it behind. Had we not been heading to the theater, and then leaving NY the next day, they definitely would have come home with us."

  • "All I can say is "OMG"!!!!! We went for our Anniversary and were quite impressed with the food, wine, just everything. The wait staff was exceptional. They took their time and did not rush us at all. They were also very knowledgeable with recommending selections that just melted in your mouth. I can also say WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!!"

  • "Kellner sind schnippisch und dem Preisniveau nicht annähernd auftretend Das Steak war ok, der Spargel minderer, fasriger Qualität und mehr als roh. Die Champignons kamen aus der Dose. Ein absolutes no go!"

  • "Ordered steak for three + seafood platter for 4 people. Very much enjoyed every piece of the food. The only recommendation would be that the receptionists will probably have to learn to smile a bit more."

  • "Some may find Wolfgang's expensive. Prices compare to Morton's or Ruth Chris. But the steak were juicy and delicious. Also sides and desserts were great. The environment was unwinding and the service excellent. I paid over $300, but the experience was well worth it since I was searching for a special place for a special occasion."

  • "We went to Wolfgang's on a Friday night for a pre-show dinner. There really aren't a lot of upscale places in Times Square, and Wolfgang's is better than most in the area. Standard steakhouse. Quality food, but nothing special. As usual for steakhouses, the food is overpriced. Good service."

  • "Eu gostei muito do restaurante. Belo local, com um bar muito bonito, bom atendimento, bons petiscos! Depois, à mesa, atendimento cortês, a comida estava fantástica e a sobremesa também!!! Recomend! !"

  • "First visit to Wolfgang Restaurant and very pleased with service of attentive staff. Table arrangement was comfortable. Meals were prepared and served in expectation of a quality New York restaurant. Both Filet Mignon and Rib Eye were seasoned and cooked as requested. Servings were large and, while a la carte, not over priced. Dessert was served for two! Waiters were friendly and helpful in meal recommendation and selection. Would definitely return."

  • "There are plenty of great steakhouses in NYC and I wouldn't count this as one of them. Steak was on the fatty side, server had the personality of a piece of plywood, and the atmosphere was none too special. I'd just assume not repeat."

  • "I give 4 stars overall rating because I would recommend having one of those delicious steaks to everyone. However I have to say that I really have been disappointed by the service. The first waiter was impolite looking anywhere when talking to me but not at me. The tablecloth had a clearly visible stain on it. There has been cutlery only for the main dish, no extra for the starter. That are only some examples for many complete no-gos in that price class. Furthermore the wine was exaggeratedly expensive. The cheapest bottle was 75 $. I have been to better restaurants that did not have to make themselves artificially exclusive by simply setting the price."

  • "Really a great restaurant to eat at. The steak was amazing, and lumb crab"

  • "I'm a big fan of Wolfgang's, but it was the first try at Times sq. location. Well, I was expected that they treat customers as "tourists", and yes they did it. Our server was so rude and tips were already included on our check like TGI Fridays even we were just 3 people group. I won't go back the location."

  • "I rate the four Wolfgang's Steak Houses as the best steak restaurants in NYC. Their meat is as good as at Peter Luger's, and their side dishes are better. Plus their martinis are superlative. Wolfgang's is expensive, but then, what good steakhouse isn't?"

  • "I've visited all the other Wolfgang's restaurants in New York City. In general Wolfgang's is a top-tier restaurant. However I can not think of a single thing that was good about the Times Square location other than the steak. Ambience was poor. It was very very loud. And the servers just wanted us out of the table. When I asked if they served one of the steaks that can be found at the other Wolfgang's locations, but was not on the menu, the server was visibly annoyed."

  • "After reviewing the menu and initially thinking of lighter fare (i.e. Fish), I chose the Wolfgang Salad and Filet Mignon. First the salad was awesome. Very untraditional as you typically think of a lettuce bed as the foundation of a salad but this truly was a single piece of Iceberg Lettuce as the bed and all the contents were within. Absolutely delicious! The Filet was cooked to my specifications (i.e. Rare) and was perfect. It was served (without asking) with an Au Poivre sauce which complimented it well but didn't require it. Sides of Spinach and Mashed Potatoes completed our lunch after which I had to be rolled out. :-) Recommend it to anyone in the area but a bit pricey to be sure."

  • "Had a reservation after 8pm. The ambience was very sterile probably due to the high ceilings. The wine list was good and the steak for two was cooked perfectly."

  • "Didn't really look at the prices before we went and was a bit of a shock. No kids option but must say the Rib Eye steak was the best that all four of us has ever had. And the portions would have feed two so would have made the price a lot more reasonable"

  • "The steaks was awesome! ! The service was mediocre. I expected better from a four stars and $$$$ restaurant. I would recommend my friends to go there for the food but don't expect to have a quiet ambience. "

  • "Being a steakhouse, I urge you to order a steak. I never ordered a rare filet before, but decided to try it here. It was delicious! Oysters, crab cake and canadian bacon get two thumbs up! I would definitely go here again!"

  • "Best steak I have ever had, when the manager seats guests and the owner wanders around to talk to people it shows you have found a special place"

  • "Wolfgang's at Times Square is a reliable, expensive steakhouse. My rib eye steak was prepared nicely (medium rare), although the cut contained much more fat and gristle than I expected. Sides of mashed potatoes, spinach and asparagus were decent if unexceptional. Service at the bar on a busy Wednesday night was prompt and the bartender made a serviceable Perfect Rob Roy."

  • "Wolfgang's is a good choice if you're going to try a New York Steakhouse. The steaks are excellent; well-trimmed and expertly grilled. We can't eat as much as we could when we were younger. Our waiter helpfully split both our Caesar Salad and our apple strudel for sharing as well as packed up the rest of our wonderful Porterhouse for two. Be sue to try the German potatoes as well. Overall it was a terrific experience. The only negative was that the restaurant got a little noisy as it filled up."

  • "For the location, I was surprised it was not busy at all. It actually kind of felt awkward. The portions were huge but they don't really have cocktails. They couldn't make a Henney/Red Bull, Sangria, etc.. We just didn't really enjoy the ambience. "

  • "Though we had booked a table we had to wait 15 min to be seated. We had a beer at the bar in the meantime and were nearly chased away, because even the bar stools were reserved for people wanting to have dinner. Eventually we were seated, had an exceptionally good red wine with an exceptionally good steak. Great dining experience concerning qualitity of food and wine, but everything was (nearly) spoiled by the enormous noise. I doubt I'll ever visit this restaurant again."
