A word from Wolfgang Puck's Spago in the Four Seasons Resort Maui
Wolfgang Puck's Spago offers panoramic ocean views from the bar and restaurant serving California cuisine with Pacific Rim influences and local Hawaiian flavors. The Mobil Four Star restaurant opened at the Four Seasons Resort Maui in 2001, teaming America’s greatest chef with the world’s finest hotel group. The Asian-inspired, contemporary designed room is sophisticated, yet relaxed, with carefully selected furnishings that provide both family comfort and romantic evenings both indoors or on the exterior lanai. All of this creates the perfect stage for Chef Cameron Lewark’s brilliant menu, using Hawaii’s premier produce, fish and meats, with the styling that made Spago famous. Utilizing only the finest ingredients available from the Hawaiian Islands, the menu presents a fusion of Hawaiian and California cuisine, embracing the tradition of the Islands culinary techniques. This inspired menu offers Wolfgang Puck's classics as well as many locally inspired dishes. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Spago is Spago is Spago. You get what you pay for and that says it all. Their wine list is top grade and their cuisine is the quality you'd expect for their prices, which rival the most expensive on the island. They do have a policy of 50% off the cheapest entrée for local residents. Unlike most other high-end restauranteurs, it seems Wolfgang Puck has no place in his mainland west coast heart for vegetarians- as the best they can offer (aside from a variety of great salads) is a tofu substitute on one of their entrées. Aside from that, if you can afford it, Spagos rivals Maui-infamous Mama's Fish House for a taste, service and quality dining experience."

  • "We ended our honeymoon by dining at Spago and it was a wonderful experience. We had dined at numerous fine dining restaurants the last two weeks on three islands and Spago surpassed our expectations. Everything from the fantastic service to the high quality meal/menu and lovely environment was perfect. I had the seafood curry which was excellent. I would dine here again in a heartbeat."

  • "I felt the food was of the old and a bit dated for Wofgang. Having said that it was we had great service. We were met at the front door and brought directly to our table. Wonderful view and greeted by our server immediately. Our server had great knowledge of the wine list and menu. Still I did not feel that Spago was up to Four Season's standard. :("

  • "Food was very good, once it finally arrived at the table. It took 30 minutes for the salad, and longer for the main course."

  • "we were seated 30 minutes past our reservation time, incorrect orders were brought to the table twice- we were seated out on the patio and it started to rain but no offer came to move us out from the rain"

  • "We have dined here three times over the past few years. The first was the best in every respect, however, with each successive visit. the overall food/service/vibe has not measured up to our first experience. Very hard working staff, however, for the $$$$, things could stand to improve."

  • "Wolfghang Puck Spago was recommended by the crew of the Maui Magic. We are so glad we took their advice. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding and it made our 25th Anniversary very special. If we ever manage to get back to Maui will will plan on making another stop at Spago."

  • "Spago' s is by far one of the best restaurants I've had the pleasure of dining in. Every time I visit Maui I make a reservation there - it's a beautiful open air restaurant with the BEST tomato soup I've ever tasted! (And I don't even like tomato soup) I've sampled all of their appetizers, and they are are deiicious. I've become a bit of a "foodie" with the help of my husband, a chef, and this restaurant is outstanding!"

  • "Every time we visit Wailea, we have dinner here. Great all the way around. Innovative food and great drinks. The best Mai Tai on this stretch of beach (IMHO). Spa go seems to get bettere and better every year."

  • "Superb service and the food was very tasty with a lot of local ingredients prepared in unique ways. We've had varying levels of service on past visits, but tonight our server Mataise (sp?) pitched a no-hitter. Not a cheap ticket, but it is worth it if you are in the Wailea area."

  • "We have dined at Spago in Wailea on multiple occasions with highly variable results. On this occasion the service was very poor and sporadic. Food was served late and cold. It took 25 minutes to get a glass of wine. Twice servers started to place food on our table that were not our orders. The food tastes great and its a wonderful view, but the service is well below the standards of what you are paying for. If this Spago were in LA or NYC, the service personnel would have their heads ripped off."

  • "We ate Spago's 2 years ago and had a great experience. the risotto was too salty. The lamb chops were meaty but lacked spice. My wife's spaghetti sauce was very similar to the tomato soup amuse. $90 half bottle of Italian wine was not good.Should have refused it. Puck needs to change his music selections which do not enhance the Hawaiian ambiance. Not sure that we will eat there on our next trip to Maui."

  • "Fabulous food and breathe-taking views of the ocean! My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Spago. The staff was friendly and very accommodating since only had a few hours before we needed to get to the airport. We were seated in a love seat facing the ocean. Even though we live on Oahu, the view of the ocean and sun setting was absolutely amazing. For appetizer, we had the loco moco, which was delicious. For dinner, I had the crispy duck with pineapple relish. Before my entree came, the waiter showed me a plate of the whole duck to make sure it was to my liking. The crispy duck was the best duck I've ever eaten! It was moist, juicy, and skin was crisp to perfection. My husband and I would definitely go back!"

  • "We had dinner here on Valentine's day while on vacation. The food was excellent, as one would expect from a Wolfgang Puck restaurant. The service was a bit off that night for some reason. But overall an enjoyable experience."

  • "I've been here before and the food and service was nothing less than flawless. This time the service was astoundingly poor given the price bracket of this restaurant. Not terrible or anything, but when you're at the Four Seasons anything other than flawless service really stands out."

  • "My fiancée and I were in Maui for 4 nights and went to Spagos' each night. Jacques Perwin is the GM and does a fantastic job with Chef Cameron. We basically had the same items each night and you have to get the Spicy Tuna Cones which are to die for, then each night Chef Cameron will have a risotto on the menu but he made our favorite one which is the sweet hula corn risotto and then he puts a parm-regan crusted cheese top over it and its amazing. Then we just split the 8 oz Wagyu beef which he has an American version which is cheaper but tastes just the same and the real one from Japan which was amazing. We had three different servers each night and they were awesome. You want to sit out on the point outside and its table 53."

  • "Had a descent meal but want worth $450. The food quality was good but was way over priced for the portion size. Prime example was $20for a tomato and mozzarella salad that had 3 slices of tomato. The service was good and our waiter was attentive. This place wouldn't be what it is if it wasn't tied to Wolfgang Puck. This was probably our 3rd favorite meal behind Humuhumu and Sarentos."

  • "We love the outdoor dining at Spago and the food and service is always the best! Out waiter was excellent and we had a table overlooking the fountain. We started with the sushi cones, which we love and a glass each of champagne. I had the Hong Kong Style Opakapaka and my husband had the Mahi Mahi. Both were delicious. I asked for mine without the rice and sauce on the side."

  • "We dine at Spago's at least once or twice when visiting Maui! It is our favourite restaurant! I had the Hong Kong Style Mahi Mahi without the rice and with the sauce on the side. We started with a glass of the Segura Cava and the Brut Champagne, to go with the calamari. We found the calamari was a bit greasy, as we weren't expecting deep fried. The sushi cones are a must to start. My husband had the curry fish dish and he enjoyed it. We had the assorted cookies to finish the meal and they were perfect. You can't beat the view and we had a great table outside."

  • "Spago is one of the top restaurants on the island. The food is inventive the atmosphere delightful and the service is top rate. We have been coming to Wailea since the Four SeAsons opened and this is our special occasion stop."

  • "We enjoyed a very nice evening at Spago's. We were not allowed to bring our own wine, but found a nice selection at the restaurant. Servers were personable and accommodating. Not a lot of local flair, but a pleasant experience. With bad weather, the restaurant handled the "overflow" with grace."

  • "Spagos in the 4 Seasons in Maui was over all OK as we were seated facing their deck with lots of empty beach chairs, not a hawaii like view. Wait staff was attentive and friendly. It was very good "foo foo" Hawaiian Asian foods. 1 salad, poke dish, 2 fish entees and a middling wine and a cheese cake with a mango sorbet so tart, was not edible. Total cost =400. The menu did reflect island fare. Forr half the price and a better view, head to Mama's Fish House!"

  • "We have eaten at Spago for our last four trips to Maui and dinner there is the always the best. It is a very special place. We usually have the cones and a wonderful fish dish. This year it was the curried fish and it was very tasty. My husband loves reading the wine book as there are some wonderful choices. It is definitely a spurge in the pocket book but definitely worth it for a wonderful evening."

  • "We have had the pleasure of having dinner at Spago's on Maui several times and it continues to be a highlight of our trip and one we look forward to each year. The service is outstanding and the open air restaurant is a must experience on Maui. We look forward to another dinner before we leave this beautiful island."

  • "Decent meal. Not quite up to the standards we're used to at other Four Seasons hotels but it was ok. One pet peeve I have about wine service. If the menu shows a bottle of 2001 and you bring me a 2003, at the very least you should politely share that information with me before delivering the wrong year. I also feel that if its a younger or lower quality vintage, you should offer to reduce the price. One last thing... A restaurant should change the wine list as soon as they run out of a vintage as quickly as possible. I would bet money that if I go back to this restaurant in two months, the menu will still reflect the discontinued vintage. I hope that not only this restaurant but all restaurants change this practice, as it is wrong."

  • "On February 14, we celebrated a major wedding anniversary and Valentine's with a first-time visit to Spago at the Four Seasons, with a 5:00pm reservation, the best we could get as of February 3rd. Food and service were both very good, and among our group of four, our meal included the "cones" appetizer, the ahi, the monchong, the pork chop, and the cheese plate, accompanied by cocktails, wine and coffee. Great experience, although the wine pricing seems to be high, at about 3x retail, but the wine is extensive. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learned to book at least two weeks in advance for popular nights. Recommended without hesitation."

  • "Have had several dining experiences here. Maybe it was Balentine's Day and they were slammed but the food was not up to the standards we expect from a Spago's. Beer salad was average and fish special was fishy!! Chocolate soufflé was delicious! It saved the evening."

  • "Last year in Maui - we had two wonderful dinners sitting outside on the patio - we loved it - the food was delicious and the service excellent. This year, we were seated inside in that area that feels like a cafeteria -you look out on the deck chairs of the Four Seasons - there were a bunch of oiled people we were staring at the the table was not comfortable. . Fafther into the meal we started to really be annoyed by the music track playing very loudly in the bar. Put on some dinner music for heaven's sake. I didn't know if I was dining or shopping in Abercrombie and Fitch! I like Janis Joplin but not during dinner!"

  • "Eaten here three times now and this last time was exquisite. Had a romantic table positioned to look out over the Four Seasons fountain in the middle of their pool. Service was impeccable. But the star of the evening was the food - every dish was perfectly executed and absolutely delicious. Spago and Lahaina Grill are the two best restaurants on Maui, by far. Both are a great choice if you really want a special dining experience."

  • "This was the second time my husband and I dined at Spago in Maui. We had a wonderful experience each time. This last time, our server recommended a wine that neither of us would have chosen, but that we ended up loving and that complemented our meal perfectly. The meal itself could not have been better, both in terms of food and service. Highly recommended"

  • "Our friend came to visit us on Maui for 3 weeks. We had a welcome dinner at Spago on his first night, and we had a farewell dinner 3 weeks later on his final night. Both were excellent and different experiences, a fitting beginning (served by Kainoa) and end. served by Josh, supported by James) The amuse-bouches of delicious soup were a great touch. We love the variety of breads: onion focaccia, olive wheat bread, parmesan flatbread, sourdough. We loved the signature poke cones; excellent al dente angel hair Wagyu Bolognese and fresh salads with local greens and beets. Steamed Opakapaka Hong Kong style (cooked with specific dietary restrictions); mahi mahi and pork chop excellent. Jasmine Pearl tea memorably served."

  • "Visited Spago twice during our recent trip to Maui...had great service with the same server both times. Highly recommend the lamb chops and the chicken...Great wine list.. If you go and want the view, book the early seating as sunset is around 6pm--so 530pm is the first reservation. Excellent food preparation and truly this is as good as we remembered from previous visits. Highly recommended. Not inexpensive, but worth it and worthy of Four Seasons."
