Diner Reviews
  • "The food was great and the service was great until the end. Once we got our food our waiter never came around again until we got our check. That would be the only drawback from the night. If we needed a drink or was missing something from our order, we wouldn't have been able to get it because he wasn't around. Other than that everything was great."

  • "Wonderful food and good service. The Ice Cream cart made it complete."

  • "Our first time and Puck's Pizza Bar was truly a great meal in every way. Friendly greeting and atmosphere. Lots of delicious dishes on the menu and a good selection. Husband had a pizza, and loved it! He is very choosy about pizza! I had the scrumptious ravioli with cream sauce and the baby greens salad. Both were so fresh and taste divine! Our server was outstanding and knowledgeable about the items on the menu and the "special" of the night. We should have tried this place a lot sooner! We will certainly go back!"

  • "Had a reservation for Friday night. We arrived early, and were seated. Waiter immediately took drink order. The beer list includes a good variety of local craft, domestic and foreign beers. The wine list is a bit weak to me. Had our favorite appetizer, white bean hummus. As usual, was not served with enough dipping bread, veggies, etc., but the hummus is great. Service had some gaps, but overall was pleasant and fine. Entrees ordered were pizza's and eggplant. We love the Prosciutto Di Parma Pizza. Food is very good and served hot. Overall, this is a casual environment, with very good food and ok service. Parking can be a bit difficult as it is located in a very busy commercial area. A valet may be a good add. We do enjoy and will return."

  • "Weeknight dinner out so noise level good and service ok. Got pasta dishes for first time...have gotten pizza in past. Both are fine but it's probably the convenient location that brings us back. Skip the kids chicken fingers ( not tender!)."

  • "After a quick interaction with the frosty hostess, I seated myself at the bar. The bartender was fantastic, if a bit busy. The food was mixed -- a great salad, and pizza that tasted good, although too soupy in the middle. All in all, a good, if not fantastic, meal."

  • "The menu was attractive for a grandmother and a child, as well as anyone in between. Salads were fresh and innovative. Pizzas were delicious and filling. Dessert was an unusual pear and pomegranate cobbler with marscapone gelato. My 10 year old grandson said "I'll try that" and was delighted with the dessert. Just unusual enough to be interesting but tasty."

  • "Had their new lunch offer, build your own pizza, starting @ $7. Shared their Caesar to start. Added chicken meatballs to pizza. Everything was very good."

  • "Food surpassed our expectations. Staff was extremely attentive. Recommend for both dates and family meals."

  • "BF and I started with the caesar salad to share... at $8 it is a bit pricey IMO but it was one of the best I have ever had.. the goat cheese crostini it was served with was excellent. BF had pepperoni pizza and I ordered the gemelli pasta (my usual)... pizza was good but I would have liked it cooked a little more so it was less chewy more crispy. The gemelli pasta was delishious as always, the sausage has great flavor and the ricotta adds a nice creamy touch."

  • "Once again did the Sunday supper with my wife ($14 each-a deal). We started with the mixed green salad; nicely done and a generous portion. We like the flavor of Puck's spaghetti sauce and the sauce served with the meatballs, sausage and pork ribs; well done! Everything was flavorful and more than enough to eat. In fact it was lunch the next day for one of us. Tonight the accompanying bread was different; small chunks of a garlic seasoned bread. The cannoli was more tasty this week, but quite a bit smaller than last week; it was mini. Tried the $25 Malbec; new vintage 2013, not as good as 2012, but drinkable."

  • "Very relaxing, casual atmosphere. We had the roasted mushroom as well as prosciutto pizzas...both outstanding. This was my first visit, but definitely not the last."

  • "Great food...love the menu. Drinks are a little on the small side. I had a $12 margarita that was served in a small water/ juice glass filled with ice. It was good but needs to be bigger. Ordered a sandwich that was served on their house made foccatia, which was the best foccatia I have ever had...it was exceptional. Server was knowledgeable and attentive, but the food did come out a little slow. Luckily we were not in a hurry that day. Overall it was a good experience and I look forward to trying other items on the menu."

  • "nothing bad to report on the food. appetizer and pizza were fantastic. our waiter, however, is another story. he told us early on that he was new and it showed. i find it hard to believe they didn't have someone overseeing him especially since the restaurant was busy but not completely packed. it took so long to get our checks that the bus boy actually came by and started clearing our table (we mentioned to him we were still waiting on our checks and he apologized and went to fetch the waiter). when we did finally get our checks they were wrong but at that point we didn't want to wait for them to try to get them right."

  • "I really wanted to like this restaurant. It is in a great location and has a very good atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food is just not good. I have tried appetizers, salads and their pizza and have been disspointed with all of them - size and quality. The service is very slow. I just don't think they staff appropriately. It appears the servers are doing their best (running around alot) but seems very disorganized. Additionally, I was not impressed with the management's lack of attention...checking in with patrons. I will be surprised if this restaurant can make it long term given the much better options near by (for food and service) - Harpers, Village Tavern, Bricktops."

  • "This was not our first visit to Wolfgang Puck's and it won't be our last. It was, however, the best meal we've had there thus far, and one of the best meals I've ever had. Anywhere. Period. The special was a pumpkin seed crusted trigger fish served over risotto with a micro-greens salad garnish. Trigger is my favorite fish, and I was knocked out by this preparation and presentation. It was cooked perfectly, as was the risotto. It was sophisticated without being fussy, and elegant without pretense. If I had to describe it in three words - off the charts!"

  • "The food is excellent as was our service. My only complaint was that we had reservations but still had to wait for approx 20 min for our table to be ready"

  • "Simply put, Puck's Pizza Bar never disappoints. Prices are reasonable and the food is as you would expect Wolfgang Puck's food to me. We enjoy it every time."

  • "I thought the quality of the food and wine were excellent, and a very good value. Our group had appetizers, salads, pizzas, pastas and entrees. They were all delicious. We will certainly return. I love that it is so close to and easy to get to, though parking can be an issue on Saturday night. Try it - you won't be disappointed."

  • "the menu offers so many good options one either needs lots of friends who like to share their food or be prepared to return several times to try all the dishes! the seasonal soup was delicious - roasted butternut squash. definitely will be back for more before it shifts off the menu. was pleasantly pleased with my margarita pizza - perfect one-person size and good crust. prosecco was a generous pour. service was good. constantly refilling water without asking. waiters eager to share their favorites. already made note that on our next visit, we must save room for the famed donut/espresso milkshake dessert."

  • "A colleague and I went to Wolfgang Puck's Pizza Bar for dinner on a Monday night. It was early in the evening and the restaurant was quieter than on a subsequent visit. Both times the wait staff was great - attentive, made good suggestions but not overbearing. Over the course of two visits we enjoyed baked goat cheese with marinara and fried pizza dough; bruschetta, grilled salmon over salad, pepperoni pizza, flat iron steak, and vegetable plate. All were very well done and delicious. Pizza of course is a specialty here and they offer several selections - from traditional to creative topping combinations. We also liked their drink specials: Monday night 1/2 price beer on tap; Tuesday night 1/2 price bottles of wine, etc. Great place!"

  • "The food was great and our server was great. The management was very unprofessional. Two managers came to our table and we were very unimpressed. One called my dad "boss" which he did not like at all. They had very cocky attitudes and made our entire table feel awkward and uncomfortable when they came to talk to us. We were giving the fairly new managers (he has been there 5 months) good feedback on an employee and he made our feedback seem unwelcome and as if our feedback on this employee was wrong. He was extremely cocky and ungracious of our good feedback. I think the management needs lessons on professionalism. Overall I would recommend this place because the ambience is great and the food is very good."

  • "Enjoyed dinner here during Charlotte's Restaurant Week. The special menu choices (soup/salad, entree, dessert) were varied and delicious! We ordered pork, beef and trout; all to rave reviews. The braised pork was melt in your mouth tender. Our server, a nice young man, was friendly, attentive, patient (we asked a lot of questions) and made us feel welcome and special, even though the restaurant was so busy! The tiramisu, a sweet delight, arrived in lovely parfait glasses. Strong coffee in huge cups was a welcome change from the usual dull, weak restaurant coffee! The one drawback? The noise level! The room was so loud we had to shout to each other! We were surprised to see such an extensive menu. Note: This is not just a pizza place!"

  • "We were excited to dine there this evening as part of Restaurant Week. Food came ultra quickly, but was impeccable. Pacing of courses left much to be desired. When ordering I said I was having difficulty choosing between the slow cooked pork and the agnolotti...no help or comment from Don. Entrees arrived hot on the heels of the apps, then the desserts arrived before we we're finished with dinner. Coffee was only offered after we were done with our desserts (coffee with hot donuts...what a great idea if it had been offered). So, we had three courses and drinks in just at 45 minutes. Glad to give you your table back!"

  • "The Queen's feast menu was nice. But since this is a pizza bar, I would have like to have seen more pizza choices (there was only one). This is a great restaurant and my previous visit (when I ordered a pizza) was why I picked this for Queens Feast."

  • "Love the food. Part of me wishes I could try something other than the pastas but I'll have to come more often to make that happen because they are so good I keep going back to the same few pasta dishes. The hummus as a starter is the best that we have had. It was restaurant week so it was crowded but our waiter was quite attentive and checked on us at least a half dozen times. Nice touch that he brought us an extra salad to try too! We will be back!..."

  • "The food is excellent and reasonably-priced and the service is as good as you'll ever find in this class of dining - the expedites are moving things straight from the kitchen/oven to the table and both the waitresses/waiters and expedites are ever pleasant. My only knock is that the drinks are chronically a "light pour" which is frustrating (though by sitting at the bar one can get a slightly better drink); for example, I usually drink whiskey and water everywhere else but go for "on the rocks" at Puck's and it tastes like the pour I get anywhere else."

  • "We tried this out for Queen's Feast and so happy we did! Great atmosphere, energetic and everything we ordered was fabulous! I ordered from the QF menu and hubby ordered from the regular menu. Our server was attentive and all the recommendations he made were outstanding. Managers were friendly and accommodating as well. Thanks for a wonderful experience. We're coming back for sure!"

  • "This is the second time I've been here with my husband and the food and service were excellent on both occasions. I got the Roasted Vegetable Pizza which I was concerned might be boring but I was so wrong, it was the best vegetable pizza I've ever had. It had a pesto base and unique vegetables - not your typical onions, peppers and mushrooms! Unlike many other pizza places in the area, this is more of an adult place - not really ideal for kids in the evening. There's a decent selection of local beers on tap. The atmosphere is vibrant but not too loud."

  • "Wolfgang Puck is solid all the way around - not just in the wood fired pizza arena. Also, we love the seasonal aspect of the menu. The specials of the day are usually inventive and worthwhile."

  • "Food was very good at Wolfgang Puck. And they offer a gluten-free menu…a rare feat at a casual restaurant in Charlotte. Highly recommend the arugula and white bean salad. My only critique is the server rushed us even though the restaurant was half empty on a Monday night. Despite this, I had a very good experience overall and will return."
