  • "Went for a birthday lunch and it was everything I had hoped for to make it a special day. Hadn't been back since the remodel and was hoping it hadn't changed too much. It had only changed for the better - still the same wonderful hideaway it was before. We felt calm and relaxed after having lunch on the patio. Perfect service and food, and loved the comfortable booth we were seated in. Can't wait to go back in the evening for a cocktail in the bar. Loved the new decor in the bar and the giant black and white photos."

  • "Extremely disappointing. Sent both entrees back. Bolognese was too salty to eat and Halibut was fishy and had anchovies in the sauce that were not mentioned on the menu. Green tea ice cream tasted like seaweed and flourless chocolate cake was tasteless. Tortilla soup was good and grilled cheese sandwish was good. But these items are not what we go to the Bel Air for. Of course there is nothing like the setting and the ambiance. But the food was abysmal."

  • "This place is a GEM! The hotel itself has it's own high end reputation and to top it off Wolfgang Puck being the head chef of their restaurant just tips your hat off. Went for Sunday Brunch, food was amazing from the starters down to the desserts heaven! Genuine service which is so hard to find these days and believe go here and you will definitely not mind giving them a handsome tip. That goes to everyone who works at this wonderful hotel, from the Valet to the Pool Boys! Another plus they have Bloody Mary Bar on Sundays!"

The food was somewhat mixed - guessing I ordered the wrong thing, maybe even the one wrong thing on the menu. The pea soup was awesome - tasted like spring itself. Unfortunately, the short rib pastrami sandwich was unpleasant - greasy, fried on griddle, overflowing with melted cheese that buried the meat - wasn't expecting that at all from the menu description. My wife on the other hand thoroughly enjoyed her BBQ salmon salad. The ambience was perfect, and we had a very pleasant walk around the grounds."

  • "I brought my boyfriend for his birthday & we were disappointed. On 5/4/14, my black sea bass arrived raw. I sent it back but when it returned, I had lost my appetite. Worse yet was not even halfway through dinner, a wedding party descended on the bar, and ruined the experience for everyone in the dining room. The adults were loud, liquored and rambunctious, and two little boys were allowed to run through the dining room, repeatedly, playing hide and seek. They yelled, called out to one another, and ruined the quiet and the ambience. I was surprised the wait staff did not put an end to it-but I suspect the wedding party spent a lot of money that night, so everyone else's enjoyment was sacrificed. Very disappointing for an expensive meal."

  • "We were coming from Michigan and I knew I wanted to celebrate my birthday at Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel Air for dinner. We ate at 6pm when they opened and were given a great seat on the terrace. I had the chicken pot pie and it was absolutely delicious. About halfway through the meal, four secret service guys walked in with five people and were seated near us. After that, the wait staff seemed to get flustered and kind of forgot about the rest of the diners. We got our bill and there were things on it that we never ordered that they said carried over from the bar...we didn't even sit at the bar or order anything close to what was on the bill. They got it fixed afterwards, although it took them awhile to come back. All in all, great food!"

But that they would make "lunch" very special. It seems they went out of their way to make it not special at all. I have loved this place in the past and have had many lovely lunches, brunches and tea here. This time I was so, so disappointed and may not go back. "

  • "It's always a treat to stay at the elegant Bel-Air -- fantastic accommodations and top level service -- but to dine at one of the best restaurants in the city just outside your door makes it complete. Brunch here is not to be missed, as is breakfast and any other meal. The menu is familiar but inventive, the flavors fresh and well-presented. The service is the best anywhere -- is everyone always so nice, attentive and friendly? It's pricey, that's for sure, but worth every penny. -Rob&Jeanne"

  • "We arrived early and were seated right away. For a fine dining restaurant, the atmosphere was not too formal. The staff was friendly and our meal was very good. The chocolate hazelnut dessert was especially outstanding. My only caveat would be that the bread was not served warm, a particular bête noir of mine. When we requested that they warm it up, they did so, but I was surprised that I had to ask. The hotel is beautiful and the restaurant well worth the prices for a special occasion."

Salmon Salad was pretty good for 28 dollars, but the sauce was too salty and not delicate. Crab Cake was just ok... Overall, it was not the kind of food you expect at this type of place for the price also."

  • "Ate there the other night. Service was way off. They forgot my drink, my sides and the pace was very slow. The waiter was more focused on this couple. He sounded like he was on a job interview telling them about his acting aspirations. Anyways when staying at the bel air maybe being a guest meant VIP service but this dinner was not in the wow factor like pasts ones. Took my SO for her first time and she couldn't understand what the hype was all about. This dining experience was not worthy of the Bel Air name!"

  • "We have typically concluded our Palm Springs holiday at this establishment. Even with an advance reservation and a request to be seated in the inside we were told that it was not available ( there were quite a few opened tables). We had to sit outside on a chilly night, under heaters and that was comfortable to say the least. The service was par at best. The food was better than the service. For a Friday evening the place was empty. Something has happened. WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN."

  • "I was really looking forward to this meal, but it failed to impress. The dining room is indoor/outdoo, so our seats wreaked from heat lamp propane. It was also very hot as a result and after failing to turn down a nearby heater, the waiter joked that we were just "lucky" to have the hottest table in the place. Service screwed up a few of our dishes/requests. Food was a bit bland and unmemorable. The hotel is beautiful, but just go look at the swans during the day and eat somewhere else."
