Diner Reviews
  • "Experience was lovely! Food was very good, Mr. Puck did a good job representing his cuisine at Restaurant Week. Good value. I had the sommelier wine pairing and it was excellent. Waitress was the best, very courteous staff including valet parking. Hard to find Stone Canyon nowadays as apparently neighbors complained and required Bel Air Hotel to remove the small sign indicating the entrance from Sunset Blvd. Not even GPA helps. Counterproductive, as it seems now more lost souls are roaming the expensive, exclusive neighborhood trying to find their way!!! As we waited to be seated, the restaurant staff took two such phone calls."

  • "Beautiful atmosphere first of all & impeccable service from the minute we walked in. The creative cocktails are another high point of dining here. Very romantic & the perfect evening for a couples night out."

  • "It is a perfect place to be. Perfect. The entrance through the gardens and past the swan into the dining room where every waiter is excellent and professional. That is the only word to describe it. Perfect. Hopefully your dining guests will rise to the level of your working staff and the sheer beauty of the hotel."

  • "While Mr. Puck's creativity was evident in the presentation, overall we were not impressed with the tastes. We also resented having our bill increased 50% if we wanted 1 of the 3 appetizers or 1 of the 3 entree offers on the Dine LA menu. If you are participating in a city-wide promotion, don't offer choices that are consistent with the regularly priced menu."

  • "First time back at the Bel Air Hotel since the remodel and it's as beautiful as we remembered. We sat in a comfortable booth on the alfresco patio. Beautiful setting with a bougainvilla arbor and fresh flowers on the table. The DineLA menu is a real bargain. A concentrated watermelon cube with a hint of harissa started the lunch as an amuse bouche. We ordered the white corn salad and burrata mozzarella, accompanied by two kinds of warm bread, followed by mushroom fettucini and lamb merguez pita with felafel (a huge plate). Very tasty! Dessert was to die for. Definitely order each choice and share. Apricot sorbet (the best ever) on meringue circles and warm cookies. Definitely will return. Service-Ambience-Food. Everything was terrific."

  • "The Dine LA menu had several delicious options for us veggie folks, and the dishes were outstanding! Corn salad and fresh pasta with chanterelle mushrooms were very memorable. The wine pairings were brilliant. And the setting could not have been more beautiful and relaxing. What a gem!"

  • "I would return but the food left much to be desired. I'm surprised with Pucks name on the place that the food isn't much to write home about"

  • "So thankful they participate in DineLA. Outstanding value for super premium dining experience."

  • "The ambience is great but I was disappointed with the food. It used to be better before Wolfgang Puck took it over. I have been going there for years and the food was much better - NR salad was boring - hamburger was good - fries -very good - chicken salad sandwich - good."

  • "Delicious food, outstanding service in a beautiful setting. Still the crown jewel on the west side."

  • "Everyone on the Wolfgang Puck/ Hotel Bel Air team were courteous, kind, and professional. The hostess made a special request for me with the Chef when I called to inquire the night before we dined. My date and I had a fantastic evening all around."

  • "Very good food... Nice and professional service. Prices were way out of line and not completely worth what we paid for but it was overall a great experience at a very lovely hotel in a beautiful area"

  • "Went for a birthday lunch and it was everything I had hoped for to make it a special day. Hadn't been back since the remodel and was hoping it hadn't changed too much. It had only changed for the better - still the same wonderful hideaway it was before. We felt calm and relaxed after having lunch on the patio. Perfect service and food, and loved the comfortable booth we were seated in. Can't wait to go back in the evening for a cocktail in the bar. Loved the new decor in the bar and the giant black and white photos."

  • "Beautiful setting for a special lunch with women friends."

  • "Extremely disappointing. Sent both entrees back. Bolognese was too salty to eat and Halibut was fishy and had anchovies in the sauce that were not mentioned on the menu. Green tea ice cream tasted like seaweed and flourless chocolate cake was tasteless. Tortilla soup was good and grilled cheese sandwish was good. But these items are not what we go to the Bel Air for. Of course there is nothing like the setting and the ambiance. But the food was abysmal."

  • "This place is a GEM! The hotel itself has it's own high end reputation and to top it off Wolfgang Puck being the head chef of their restaurant just tips your hat off. Went for Sunday Brunch, food was amazing from the starters down to the desserts heaven! Genuine service which is so hard to find these days and believe go here and you will definitely not mind giving them a handsome tip. That goes to everyone who works at this wonderful hotel, from the Valet to the Pool Boys! Another plus they have Bloody Mary Bar on Sundays!"

  • "Generally very attentive and professional service and great food and ambience. My only comment was things were a bit slow. Restaurant was less than half full. "

  • "Couldn't pick a lovelier spot for lunch. Service was attentive (except for asking how my food was). The food was somewhat mixed - guessing I ordered the wrong thing, maybe even the one wrong thing on the menu. The pea soup was awesome - tasted like spring itself. Unfortunately, the short rib pastrami sandwich was unpleasant - greasy, fried on griddle, overflowing with melted cheese that buried the meat - wasn't expecting that at all from the menu description. My wife on the other hand thoroughly enjoyed her BBQ salmon salad. The ambience was perfect, and we had a very pleasant walk around the grounds."

  • "Although this was one of the most pleasant dining (lunch) experiences we've ever had, we would not have gone there had we known about the Sultan of Brunei's involvement with the Hotel Bel Air! We will NOT return until the government of Brunei divests itself of the properties or changes its policies against its citizens."

  • "I brought my boyfriend for his birthday & we were disappointed. On 5/4/14, my black sea bass arrived raw. I sent it back but when it returned, I had lost my appetite. Worse yet was not even halfway through dinner, a wedding party descended on the bar, and ruined the experience for everyone in the dining room. The adults were loud, liquored and rambunctious, and two little boys were allowed to run through the dining room, repeatedly, playing hide and seek. They yelled, called out to one another, and ruined the quiet and the ambience. I was surprised the wait staff did not put an end to it-but I suspect the wedding party spent a lot of money that night, so everyone else's enjoyment was sacrificed. Very disappointing for an expensive meal."

  • "We were coming from Michigan and I knew I wanted to celebrate my birthday at Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel Air for dinner. We ate at 6pm when they opened and were given a great seat on the terrace. I had the chicken pot pie and it was absolutely delicious. About halfway through the meal, four secret service guys walked in with five people and were seated near us. After that, the wait staff seemed to get flustered and kind of forgot about the rest of the diners. We got our bill and there were things on it that we never ordered that they said carried over from the bar...we didn't even sit at the bar or order anything close to what was on the bill. They got it fixed afterwards, although it took them awhile to come back. All in all, great food!"

  • "I originally booked this for tea - my 10 year old niece's birthday. I was told that I was there too early and that there weren't any available reservations for tea. But that they would make "lunch" very special. It seems they went out of their way to make it not special at all. I have loved this place in the past and have had many lovely lunches, brunches and tea here. This time I was so, so disappointed and may not go back. "

  • "It's always a treat to stay at the elegant Bel-Air -- fantastic accommodations and top level service -- but to dine at one of the best restaurants in the city just outside your door makes it complete. Brunch here is not to be missed, as is breakfast and any other meal. The menu is familiar but inventive, the flavors fresh and well-presented. The service is the best anywhere -- is everyone always so nice, attentive and friendly? It's pricey, that's for sure, but worth every penny. -Rob&Jeanne"

  • "We arrived early and were seated right away. For a fine dining restaurant, the atmosphere was not too formal. The staff was friendly and our meal was very good. The chocolate hazelnut dessert was especially outstanding. My only caveat would be that the bread was not served warm, a particular bête noir of mine. When we requested that they warm it up, they did so, but I was surprised that I had to ask. The hotel is beautiful and the restaurant well worth the prices for a special occasion."

  • "Something was way off. $460+ for dinner. Really not good or fair. The food was horrible. The service was poor at best. The experience we wanted to be special wasn't."

  • "The ambience of Bel Air Hotel is superb, and the food does not match to this status. We had French Omlette, very disappointing for 22 dollars. Salmon Salad was pretty good for 28 dollars, but the sauce was too salty and not delicate. Crab Cake was just ok... Overall, it was not the kind of food you expect at this type of place for the price also."

  • "Whether coming for lunch, dinner or tea, Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air is always a great place to dine. It's perfect for an afternoon with friends or a romantic evening out. The food, service and atmosphere create a special getaway right near home."

  • "Ate there the other night. Service was way off. They forgot my drink, my sides and the pace was very slow. The waiter was more focused on this couple. He sounded like he was on a job interview telling them about his acting aspirations. Anyways when staying at the bel air maybe being a guest meant VIP service but this dinner was not in the wow factor like pasts ones. Took my SO for her first time and she couldn't understand what the hype was all about. This dining experience was not worthy of the Bel Air name!"
