Diner Reviews
  • "Been here for dinner many times...always very good. Just recently ate here for brunch, one word, EXCELLENT!"

  • "I went there for the first time with a girlfriend a few months back. We had such a nice time. Food was outstanding and after brunch we sat in the bar area and just relaxed with the others as people checked in and out. The design of the hotel is so sleek and modern down to the unique floral display in the lobby. This time I took my husband for brunch and two months later, the valet staff made such a fuss over me. At first I thought they confused me for some local celebrity...but no. They remembered me and were so kind. Ive never had that happen and I have stayed at my share of 5 star hotels in my life. My husband was like, oh my god.....look how they are treating you!! We received the same service at brunch. A class act!"

  • "Only complaint was service was way too fast. Felt rushed."

  • "We were pretty disappointed. The swordfish was undercooked, the salads were a little wilted and tasteless. They just weren't worth it. Some of the food was okay, but all in all, we ended up spending something close to $200, which is completely insane for what we paid. This place is way overhyped, and probably just does okay based on its good looking decor and location."

  • "We tried something new for my wife's birthday. I was hoping for it to be a success since the gamble was for her birthday (and not for mine). My wife was greatly pleased with her dining experience at Wit & Wisdom. The only disappointment was waiting for our bread, lol. When we arrived at our table there was a card waiting for my wife signed by all the staff! That was a pleasant touch and we had the best seat in the house. We had the Bison, and Red Snapper as our entree's and grilled corn and black truffle mac & cheese as our sides. Everything was delicious. My wife never eats all of her steak but this time she took nothing home. Shane and Adrian treated us great. The scenery, the food, the desserts were all great! Get "The Baltimore Bar"!"

  • "I have eaten at Wit and Wisdom for dinner and loved it, this was my first time having lunch. I had the prime skirt steak salad and was blown away by the amount of flavor. The skirt steak was perfectly medium rare and the salad it's self was fresh and zesty. I loved the balance of the pickled rhubarb with the meat."

  • "We made a last minute reservation for four on a Saturday night. The food was delicious. I would say the fish was better than the steaks, most likely because the steaks were extremely expensive and just not worth it. If we want a steak, we'll keep in mind the steakhouses. But the lobster corn dog app was super good and wouldn't have been my first choice, but I'd get it again. The cold lobster app which was my choice, left alot to be desired. The snapper was out of this world as was the pork. And the desserts which certainly weren't needed, were amazing. The Balitimore bar is to die for!"

  • "My wife enjoyed the food and atmosphere for her 61st birthday. Only comment is the rock & roll music was a little too loud in the dining area and did not fit with the fined dining atmosphere in the dining area. Service was great."

  • "The menu was not appealing and the server was horrible. The view is great but thats the best thing about the restaraunt. The hostess was very nice and friendly, if the servers would have been half as nice and attentive as the hostess then my experience would gave been better. The food was nothing to rave over and the drinks all had a weird after taste."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "Food was very good and the wine list was exceptional, one of the best Rieslings we have every had. We were able to sit outside. The view of the harbor was also great. The hostess was also very friendly and we were seated right away. On the negative side, our waitress was a bit too distant for this type of restaurant. The food is little bit pricey also. Overall it was a still a nice experience."

  • "$20 for a chard. Hmmm. What sends this review down the toilet was dinner. In a Four Seasons/Michael Mina, you expect the epitome of service. Place was very lightly seated (day before the 4th). Ordered a signature dish (crab three ways) and waited. 30 mins before bread brought (and two server reminders). Then waited, and waited and waited. A total of 90 mins for the entrée! OMG! And the manager apologized and then comp'd us a % on the entrée (full price for wine/sides). Here is the kicker. When the food arrived it was cold. Room temp cold. Softshell was salty. Awful. Crab soup very good. Crab cake so so. COLD! There are numerous ways to save an experience like this. Not one tried. Don't waste your time OR money."

  • "Reservations for my son's birthday they had a birthday card for him and everyone wished him a happy birthday. It was nice without being over the top and embarrassing. Choice of food is very good from simple to complex tastes and textures. We enjoyed the Tuna Tartare, Beef bone marrow and heirloom salad appetizers. Bread was wonderful very textured and slightly grilled. We enjoyed the Lobster Pot Pie (be aware market price was $51), a bison burger accompanied with fois gras slider, the Pork Duo and Swordfish. Desserts are very unusual. White chocolate with black olives!, was actually tasty. The Baltimore Bar was most traditional but actually a little bland, too chocolaty. Would go back again to sit outside especially."

  • "I took my husband to Wit and Wisdom for his birthday this past Sunday evening. The location is beautiful, parking was a snap, and we were greeted and promptly shown to our comfortable table. We enjoyed a cocktail before a bottle of wine (1/2 off on Sundays!!) and were very excited about the menu. The food was all good, for starters we had the tomato salad, and the peanut soup, entrees my husband had the lobster pot pie, I had the ribeye, and we shared the truffle mac n' cheese and mushrooms. We both agreed that each of the courses was good, but they ALL needed more seasoning: specifically salt. The deserts were perfect, and the savory portion of our meal would have gone from good to great if the seasonings had been adjusted."

  • "The ambience in the outdoor dining area was the best part of this experience; The water views and sun shading were great. The food preparation was acceptable, but expensive for what was served. Cloth napkins were torn and stained for 3 of 4 of our party. Wait staff was all right, but not trained well enough with the exception of the sommelier. The wines on the list were overpriced, but bottles were half-price the night we dined."

  • "I was traveling from Seattle and found Wit and Wisdom by accident. I'm glad I did. The server spoiled me and the food was to incredible. Next time I'm in the area, I'll make every effort to visit again."

  • "Michael Mina has done it wonderfully with this high-end farm-to-table concept. It was a pleasure to try some of the local creations. The menu is far-ranging in terms of styles and anyone is sure to find something that suits their tastes. The one drawback was that the service was not quite the level of attention I would expect given the price of the meal. The waiter was very professional but stumbled when it came to recommending items."

  • "I keep hoping that the food and service at Wit and Wisdom will match the outstanding setting. We ate outdoors on the beautiful terrace with stunning harbor views. Unfortunately neither the food nor the service fit the setting. Water glasses stood empty for half the meal. Our drinks arrived after our salads. While we both enjoyed a Cesar salad and field greens, the grilled corn was swimming in butter and the grilled asparagus was bitter."

  • "The menu was inventive & well executed. Service was a bit slow however the staff was very knowledgeable and made great suggestions. The sommeliers were very helpful and gave great descriptions. The reisling flight was a nice treat."

  • "We went to Wit and Wisdom for my birthday dinner/date night. We were seated in the back part of the restaurant, and while it was nice that we had a table next to the window, we felt like we would have liked the ambiance of the main dining area better. Plus, when we arrived, it was just us and a man with two small children in that area (although the kids were extremely well-behaved). I had oysters for an appetizer, which were delicious, and my husband had the bone marrow, which he loved. Both of our entrees were not as good as we had anticipated. The lobster pot pie was good, but missing complexity. My husband's steak was also bland. The Baltimore Bar dessert was very good. I would return, but maybe for lunch, drinks, and dessert."

  • "We love Wit and Wisdom for its fantastic food, romantic and modern ambiance, and usually great service, but our most recent experience was a let down. Service seemed extremely discombobulated. No napkins, food coming out of order, multiple server mis-communications, specials incorrectly described, long waits to be recognized. That said, the food blew us away as usual."

  • "We have eaten at W&W a few times, but this last time was terrible. The food was not up to par, and the service was almost non- existent. Dinner took 3 hrs, and at $400, I was not impressed. The $45 shellfish appetizer was sparse, and the clams tasted like something scraped off a pirate's boot. On another note, I was surprised at how empty it was for a Friday night. I think that perhaps more people have had similar experiences, and have moved on."

  • "Entering the restaurant you experience the smoky ambiance from the wood stove. That is a primal comfort. I had the cold tomato soup that had a layer of cream on the bottom of the bowl. So fresh and memorable. Soft shell crab was the best I have ever had. Wins steward recommended a wonderfully paired selection. Yum."

  • "WE WERE EXCITED THAT MICHAEL MINA HAD OPENED A RESTAURANT IN OUR AREA. WE HAD ENJOYED MANY MEALS AT HIS PLACE IN THE BELLAGIO. MY RIBEYE STEAK WAS COOKED PERFECT BUT "TUFF" AND MY WIFE SAID THE LOBSTER POT PIE WAS NOT CLOSE TO THE ONES SHE HAS HAD IN VEGAS. VERY DISAPOINTED."

  • "Went for lunch before a trip to Four Seasons spa. The lunch menu was very limited. A nice amerone made some otherwise just adequate burgers a nice meal. I had been excited to try the lobster corn dogs. Totally disappointing. It was a processed tasting seafood like meat substance ball--fried like a corn dog on a stick. The server really tried to push the brunch buffet, but it looked like the sandwiches had been left out too long. So the high point was the wine. However, the first glasses were dusty and gross so I asked for them to get some new ones. They did. They were still linty. Finally, the service was not outstanding. My glasses were often empty--she just took a long time getting back to us, even though the restaurant was almost empty."

  • "This is the third time I've dined here and it has always delivered on extremely high quality of food and service. Highly recommend for a special occasion or date night out. Absolutely love that I never feel rushed throughout the meal."

  • "This experience was so bad that our party left before having our entree. The waitress was not at all helpful. The appetizers were average. Our party decided to dine elsewhere."

  • "A minor irritation is that we were seated a bit later than our reservation time but, the table service was excellent. From the principle server to the food runners courtesy and attention to detail were fully expressed. I appreciated that the sommelier stopped by our table to ask if we would like some help with the wine list (we didn't) and she returned repeatedly to top off our glasses and suggest pertinent tasting notes. The food was not very adventurous; but it was delicious, and prepared very well and just as specified by each diner. The food delivery to our table started slowly but once begun it was timed perfectly. Our server was always around when we needed her and she was extremely pleasant and patient with all five of us."

  • "Menu had some unusual choices as well as much more traditional fare. Those of us wanting to be adventurous had new tastes, and those of us wanting mild got it. Cocktails were excellent."

  • "Great spot for a high-end business lunch (or breakfast). This visit the service was a little 'spacy' but it may be a temporary blip due to ownership changes at the hotel."
    Dined on 6/3/2014
  • "We were very disappointed with our meal. The produce itself was of good quality, but the flavor was spoiled by combining strong flavors. My lobster tail was served on a strong smokey flavored sauce which ruined the delicate taste of the lobster. We do live in Europe and are visiting the US and we have noted a general tendency in the restaurants here to over complicate good dishes. The service was very efficient though. "

  • "Maybe people in Baltimore have low expectations, but this place was severely overpriced with average food. You are paying to be in the Four Seasons and on the waterfront. Its all marketing and hype for people with too much money. The peanut soup was average to bad, and the cuts of meat were tough. The fish? Average. Honestly, if I had this meal at another restaurant for a third of the price, I would say it was decent. I would never go back. I really think people must think they are cool going there because its expensive. I on the other hand felt like a sucker."

  • "Very nice restaurant, we loved the service, food, and view... Will highly recommend for sophisticated couple to attend... Very intimate setting by water!"

  • "The outdoor space was disappointing. We sat there before dinner for drinks and there was no wait staff and not enough seating. We sat with some people we didn't know. The entree's are very expensive for what you get. My husband's swordfish was over cooked."

  • "My wife and I were recommended by a friend to visit and while the waitress and food were good our seat was least than par. We had an end sit directly across from one of the lounge areas (couch sitting area) where a large wedding party was gathering. Our dinning time quickly turned into part of the waiting area for the wedding party as they were literally within inches of our table. The waitress attempted on at least two occasions to get the party to remain on the other side of the walkway but it was too little avail. No sure if we will visit again although we were told the outside area is dynamic for the views. Good but not great... First time maybe the last time. "
