Wishbone - West LoopSouthern cookingSouthern dining with a northern touch. Always a dependable and enjoyable mea.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMVeg Friendly Gem in the West LoopLOVE Wishbone. My family (husband, 4.5 year old and 20 month old) visit Wishbone regularly. We have been for both breakfast/brunch and dinner. They have LOTS of vegan/vegetarian AND gluten-free offerings. The restaurant has a fun, relaxed vibe and servers are laid back and fun. If you're vegan try the black bean cakes or harvest cakes. Satueed spinach is AMAZING! My 20 month old steals it off my plate - it is THAT good. And the home fries - who doesn't love home fries? Wishbones are made with sauteed onions - heaven!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMNice intimate scene. Food was good. Disappointed that because they apparently have only one fryer (and it was busy with the catfish special) that the famous fried chicken was not available. Tab was very reasonsable.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMNever a disappointing mealNever a disappointing meal at this place, excellent food and good-attitude service4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently GoodI've been going to Wishbone for years, having first visited their original location on Wood Street around 1992. Yummy stuff and consistent quality. I had the crab cakes and they could have been crispier, they were actually cool in the middle. My date had chicken fried steak and it could have been crispier. I chalk this up to a very busy night and probably a swamped kitchen. Our wait person Andrea hustled all over the restaurant, but her service was just fine for us. This has always been a go to place for me. The noise level makes it suitable for kids, and there is always something for them to eat on the expansive menu.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMVegan and Gluten-Free friendly!Love love love this neighborhood favorite. My husband, two kids and I dine here at least once a month. Everything I have tasted is delicious and their menu is very gluten-free and vegan friendly - from buckwheat pancakes for brunch and millet harvest cakes for lunch or dinner. The sauteed spinach is AMAZING!
The decor is fun and laid-back, casual and fun. We always enjoy our experience here!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWishbone never disappointsWishbone never disappoints for comfort food in a comfortable setting.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat place for dinner beforegreat place for dinner before an event at The United Center4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, bad service when we wentI know Wishbone is known more for its brunch than for its dinner, but the dinner was delicious! The hushpuppies alone are worth coming back for. And the grits!
But the service was very off at dinner. Perhaps those are the less experienced servers? Perhaps the less coveted shift? We had to ask for our server after waiting to even get acknowledged at our table. Once we got our drinks (many of the beers listed weren't available, so that made the ordering process a bit of a mess), it was easier to go to the (empty) bar for refills.
I'm not sure if it was an understaffed night or if dinner is just not the time to go. I was excited to go to go at night because it was in the perfect location for our large group and they use openta4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMJason our server was spectacularJason our server was spectacular and very helpful, the food was good but having a 6:45 reservation the place was starting to close so I felt a bit rushed...3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI've never been disappointedI've never been disappointed with the food or atmosphere at either lunch or dinner.
