  • "We went to WISH to celebrate our 33rd anniversary. Started with cocktails in the bar. Friendly staff.... Then on to the dining room for our meal. The room was well designed to make it seem more intimate. Started with the fresh green bean salad, which was outstanding. I had the ribeye (rare), and my husband had the ribs. Both were excellent. The twice baked potato was huge, and so delicious it was hard to stop eating, although we were both very full. Kylie was our waitress and she did a great job."

  • "There was a wedding reception being held there and they filled the bar area. The noise was extreme especially when we were seated at the very first table in the dining area. It did not improve when they moved to the dining area. It was so loud it was difficult to have a conversation with others at the table."

  • "Went on a Saturday night at prime 7:00 time slot. The place was completely dead. They were "sold out" of the Saturday night special of Prime Rib. I suspect they never had it to begin with. They only offer bread now upon request, which I knew. I ordered bread to be delivered with my lobster bisque. It didn't come. I notified the waitress. She came back 5 minutes later and said there wasn't any bread made, that they were putting it in the oven now. Needless to say, my bisque was cold by the time my bread came. There was no offer of a fresh bowl. The filet mignon was ok. The hangar steak was not cooked as requested and tough as shoe leather. The price for this place does not even come close to matching the quality of food and poor service."

  • "we were there on a saturday night a half hour before the kitchen closed and we were the last guests. steaks were delicious. but what i will remember about this restaurant was the service and the drinks. we opted to sit in the bar area and sat at the bar after dinner. the bartender is one of the best of his kind. he made amazing drinks, gave great recommendations on desserts/drinks and sincerely engaged at conversation."

  • "Being a chef in the industry, we savor our Friday nights off in the spring. The Wish exceeded our expections in every category. We spurged on the Cowboy steak and it truly was the best steak I have ever had -- even better than the overpriced steak at Gibson's in Chicago. Even better than the many great steaks I have made. Great bartender, atmosphere, and service. Thanks for a great road trip.. we'll be back. First time I ever used Open Table -- thanks for making it so easy."

  • "three of us went to dinner at Wish. One plate was rated very good, the second was okay and the third disappointing. Been there for a group dinner (12-15 people), results was more favorable."

  • "My husband made the reservation and we went to Wish during a raging blizzard and were shocked to find the place hopping! Of course, we ordered too much-the menu is pricey, but the quality is exceptional for the area; we spend time in Wausau and it is hard to find a restaurant that takes it to this level! Oh, and Wish is located in an old Moose Lodge in an industrial park! How fun!"

  • "We really enjoyed our experience at Wish. It's pretty off the beaten path, tucked in an industrial district, but it was worth the 10 minutes drive from Wausau. The prime rib and NY Strip steaks we had were excellent. We also really enjoyed the mac & cheese and our soups. My reason for the four-stars is that our entire meal ended up being about $70/person (including tip), and I'm not sure I believe that the meal quite justified the cost. To be fair, most of us had add-ons for our steaks which brought the price up, but that is really my only complaint. The service was outstanding."

  • "I was a little disappointed that my reservations were pushed back a half an hour and we didn't get our table for another hour, but my party of six really enjoyed sitting at the well stocked bar. The bartender kept us flowing without any problems. When we got our table, the waitstaff was very attentive and thorough. Our friends, who had not been to Wish, were impressed by the menu. We were all overly satisfied with the food. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the soup is always delicious. We have and will continue to recommend this restaurant to friends and family."

  • "We were told that Wish is THE place to go for dinner. We are a bit of steak snobs and decided to give it a try. Our server was amazing. Friendly, attentitve and gave great suggestions and advice. I had the 6oz filet medium with the asparagus. Hubby had the hanger steak medium rare with a twice baked potato. We shared the cheese curds and the mac and cheese. Both of our steaks were delicious and cooked exactly how we wanted. The asparagus was nothing to talk about. Its the exact same as me tossing it in olive oil, salt and pepper and roasting it. I was hoping for something more. The mac and cheese and twice baked potato were awesome. Desert we had the salted butterscotch pudding and some sherbert. Both were great."

  • "A group of six adults dined at WISH, Friday November 8th,2013. Overall it was fantastic! We started with the Caesar salad; it was the best tasting Caesar I have ever had. The fillet mignon was perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth. My husband had the whitefish, it was pan-blackened and served with grilled asparagus. Our group shared the 3 cheese mac. The mac was creamy cheesy and yummy! The side portions are large enough to share with your group. We ended our dining experience with the Butterscotch Budino for dessert. The budino was light and flavorful and a great way to end the evening"

  • "This was our first visit. While the service was OUTSTANDING, I'm not convinced the food was enough to justify the high price. The food was good, but I left feeling I could have gone to other local establishments for a similar experience for less money. I wasn't convinced that the steak tasted any better or had any better quality than what I've had at Carmello's, Iozzo's, or even Texas Roadhouse. Our party consisted of 4 adults, 2 teenagers (1 just had an appetizer), and 2 children, and the bill was over $300. Everyone at our table agreed the food was good, but nobody was completely blown away. I had heard from many people how excellent the food was, so maybe my expectation was simply set too high to begin with."

  • "We found this restaurant on open table after a long hike. It's a bit off the beaten path but definatlely worth it. Great menu choices. We were worries about that because steakhouses are usually so limited. The service was excellent and accommodating. Don't miss the spinach salad or the sorbet!! Excellent overall"
