After dinner, retire to the Pub and enjoy an after dinner cordial or step outside for a perfect ending by the fire pit. During the summer months, the Garden Patio is open for your dining pleasure.

Unfortunately it was so cold that it made our experience here unpleasant. The quality of food would make us give it another try and ask for a warmer table!   • "The Winsor House has been open under new ownership for the past year, and the owners have clearly spent time listening to their customers, adjusting the menu, and fine tuning the restaurant. It's working. This was our first time for brunch; we generally come for dinner. The menu was creative (classic English breakfast and eggs Benedict, warm pancakes with fresh fruit, and some of the more popular items off the dinner menu like the zucchini sticks with grilled shrimp or chicken and the Winsor burger). The presentation beautiful. We sat outside on the patio, which is the coveted brunch spot. One friend, who lives in Boston, even commented that while Boston has plenty of great brunch spots, he'd made the drive to come to Winsor's. We agree."

  • "This was a very impressive meal - everyone was thrilled with their food, but sitting outside on a sunny Sunday in the summer cannot be beat. The Executive Sous Chef ran into us just by chance and offered up a tour of not only the other dining rooms including the private rooms, but also the Inn bedrooms - they were so quaint! Perfect place to have a special family or big group dinner as the private dining room seats 14. You won't be disappointed."

  • "The order was taken quickly and the food arrived without delay. The chowder was excellent, the Winsor House Cobb salad is a great salad. The burger made out of ground ribeye steak is very tasty. Once the check was placed on the table the waitress never returned to the table. After waiting 30 minutes I brought the check to another waitress standing near the computer/cash register."

  • "What a transformation from the prior Winsor House! Food was exquisite. Decor very tasteful, while respecting the inn's historic roots. The oysters were out of this world good, as were the salmon and roasted cod. Loved the originality and taste of the cream cheese ice cream! The salad was slightly overdressed, but all in all, an outstanding experience. Will definitely be back!"

  • "If you want a quiet meal, ask to be seated in the Dining Room. If you like a lively atmosphere, go for the Pub; Carriage House is somewhere in between. Same menu, just different ambiance. Menu was inventive, and delicious!"

  • "Coming from California, we've turned a bit snobby in our food tastes. This has been our first south shore restaurant to compare with Cali food. The food was delicious. We got a cheese and charcuterie board to start. Chicken and Steak for dinner. Chocolate cake for dinner. A bottle of wine to wash it all down with. Our 13mo daughter got the grilled cheese with fruit and ate the plate clean. The room had several other families. The children played outside while the adults got some alone time. Can't wait until my daughter is old enough for that!"

  • "One of the most charming places that my husband and I have dined at. The food and ice cold martinis were as fabulous as I thought they would be considering the people who own it! The three rooms to choose from to eat in were all cozy, whether the main dining room, the pub or the carridge room, which overlooked the garden which was our choice. I knew when the assortment of breads that were brought which were all different,including the cranberry nut roll that it ALL would be delicious! The cheese board was perfect to start, then the salmon entree was cooked to perfection. Did I mention the Stickey Toffee Pudding for dessert!? Unbelievably delicious! Of course....they had me at the bread basket! Cannot wait to return. "

  • "We went for Easter Brunch. Service was friendly and prompt. Brunch was done very well. Carving station for turkey and ham. Other entrees were a variety of quiche ( although had to find and ask wait staff what the varieties were), eggs benedict, scrumptious looking french toast, smoked salmon and the traditional accompaniments, breads, etc. All in all an impressive offering of brunch goodies. There was a chocolate torte and fresh fruit for dessert. The only criticism I would have concerning the service was that plates were not cleared in between returns to the brunch table. We had to ask for that and clean cutlery. Maybe that is being too fussy. No feeling of being rushed. Great experience."

  • "We live nearby and have family meals here regularly. Pub menu is consistently good and servers are always polite and friendly. Overall, the new owners have made significant improvement since they took over last year. That said, consistency is a source of some frustration. Seafood entrees have disappointed on enough occasions that I've been avoiding ordering. Sometimes the kids meal comes with fruits/veggie cup, sometimes they forget to bring it. Last time we were there they brought out pasta for my son when he ordered a pizza...then they brought out some weird pizza/bread thing. I'll keep dining here and hope the kitchen staff continues to improve with age. It's still the best dinner spot in Duxbury!"

  • "We've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. An opportunity came with friends to do so. The food was pretty good and the service was excellent. There is sitting for a kid friendly area, a romantic area and the typical bar area. I had the short rib which was absolutely fantastic. My wife had scallops which were also very good. But the catch is that the servings were a bit on the stingy side. My wife's scallops, for instance, looked like one scallop sliced horizontally twice to make three pieces. It would have been a two bite meal for me. On top of the fact that the meals were tiny, the price was for a full serving. The desserts were pretty good. But again, at $11 each, it wasn't THAT good. The service was excellent."

  • "Our group of 6 had a fun dinner in the Carriage House and then moved into the bar area after dinner. The vibe was very fun & positive, with lots of different ages there. Favorites at our table were the artichoke & spinach dip, truffle fries, scallop special, and clam chowder. We mainly did appetizers and were so glad that there were new ones to select on the menu. The Winsor House is BACK!"

  • "My new wife and I live about 15 mins away and were looking for a new place to have dinner. After a long work week for the both of us, we were looking for a place that was quiet, with a classy crowd.. Check mate! When we arrived, the parking lot was packed, I thought we had made a mistake... The bar was pretty full, but an older crowd of singles... There were several tables of people eating as well. We got a drink and went to our table... There were several other small parties, but plenty of wait staff... Food and service was excellent. Highly recommended!"

  • "for the most part the food was excellent, clam chowder was AWFUL but portions are very small and prices are high for what you are getting!! We had a reservation at 5:45, seated immediately and were not served our meals untill 7pm!! The staff was pleasant but, didn't really care that we were there for 2hrs with 2 small children. this was my second time at Winsor house and I probably won't go back for dinner again."

  • "We had a fabulous meal, as usual. I tore myself away from my favorite, the wild mushroom risotto, to try the cod and it was phenomenal. It has become my new favorite. We love the Winsor House for its warm welcoming atmosphere, the friends we always see there, and of course the wonderful food and drink. My husband and I consider the Winsor House to be our home away from home."

  • "We met friends from the Cape for an early Friday night dinner. The service was friendly, but a little haphazard (no coat room obvious, late with menus, had to ask for water refills), but the food was outstanding. Perfectly cooked salmon, crispy cod, beef tartare delicious with salty croutons, homemade tagliatelle -- multo buono!! Sticky Toffee Pudding was the best we've ever had. The bar was jumping, but the dining room was very quiet -- fine for our group."

  • "Reservation for six this past Saturday. Prior visits have been to the pub area which is busy and fun. The dining room is more sedate and was frankly not busy. Diverse ordering from burgers to cod to the sirloin. The food was all well prepared and very good The steak was quite good although the portion was somewhat small. Prices are fairly high especially if sides are ordered. Specialty drinks are at or above Boston levels. Service was eager but amateurish. The new owners have been there about six months and it is a vast improvement over the prior ownership. As a local I will certainly return but whether the price quality relationship can fill the two dining rooms is another matter"

  • "This is our second visit to the Winsor. Our first was so nice we had to return and bring another couple. I enjoyed the baked cod on the mussels ragout, for the second time. My husband ordered the venison, which was outstanding. Our guests had a steak, and the halibut. All the food was presented and cooked perfectly. We love the coziness of the tavern (our first visit) and the warmth of the carriage house this time. What a find! This is going to be one of our regular stops."

  • "We had wonderful meals on Wednesday night! My husband's chicken was the tenderest he's ever had, and my son said his dessert was the best also! Our server was very nice and helpful. For whatever reason, though, 3 of us, got our drinks and the 4th had to wait a good 5 minutes extra for a glass of wine. All in all, we're so happy that they are bringing the restaurant back!!"
