Diner Reviews
  • "SO thrilled we dined here for our anniversary. From the moment we were greeted by Alex to walking out the door , we enjoyed the experience. The staff are personable and knowledgeable and each morsel of food Delicious. Look forward to going back soon, especially for the duck!"

  • "The service and food were just great. At first it seemed too loud but as time went on and other diners left, it was much easier to converse. (Our reservation was at 8:45 so the place was really full and the table next to us had a very loud talker.)"

  • "We had a group of four people and were trying to decide if we wanted to do the 5-course meal. In the end we decided to each order an appetizer and an entree and share everything. Our waiter was great by bringing out each dish separately and pairing the like foods with different wines throughout the meal. Everything was fantastic and the owner even thanked us by name when we left."

  • "I was impressed that as we were leaving another employee of the restaurant (I believe his name was Mark?) stopped us at the door, shook our hand and thanked us for coming in. I had not experienced that before and it made us feel a little bit special. The food was very good, particularly the scallop entree that I had- excellent combination of flavors. It's very cozy and nicely decorated. Great date spot, just a little spendy."

  • "Had the 5 courses tasting menu. Food was very good but the highlight was definitely the wine pairing. Great original finds. Every single wine was unique on its own but a perfect match to the dish. Excellent job!"

  • "Don't get me wrong, the food was good and they do seem to be very accommodating to dietary restrictions; however, something just really missed the spot about wink. I think they are just trying too hard and are no different than many of the other restaurants in the Austin scene. I wouln't go back nor would I highly recommend it."

  • "Once again, an incredible dining experience -- delightful and fabulous cuisine and friendly and professional staff. They make you feel like they are inviting you into their home. Love to treat my out-of-town friends."

  • "I chose WINK as the place to celebrate my friend's 60th birthday because I knew it would be perfect. From the moment you enter the place you feel you are among friends. After greetings and a bit of catching up the experience begins. You start with an amuse bouche while perusing the menu and wine list. All questions about the food and wine pairings are expertly answered. We decided on the five course tasting menu. I had tried the seven course tasting menu on a previous occasion and decided that five courses were the right amount of food. Each course was as delightful as the last. And because you never feel rushed, you are free to enjoy and appreciate each course at your own pace which only enhances the entire experience."

  • "I ordered the large scallops for $33. The plate came with 3 quarter-sized scallops. I found the food salty and incredibly overpriced. I did not expect huge serving portions, but $11 for a scallop seems rather outrageous. The desserts were good. That is why I gave the restaurant two stars overall."

  • "The profile for this joint says American fusion or something. I thought it was great. Less American more fusion in my opinion. It might have been just what I had but there were a lot of interesting middle eastern/Asia minor flavors in my dishes. The use of things like paneer for example. It was a great space to have a place like that squeezed in there. Hidden from the street. Plus very nice waiters. The only thing I thought was strange was their wasn't much of a flow to the menu. No apps to salads to entrees. They were all just smashed on the same paper and it made me feel like I had to order everything at once. Other then that it was great."

  • "Another anniversary celebration at Wink. We went for the 5 course chef dinner with wine pairing. The food was outstanding and the pairings perfect. We did throw in a 6th course, however. They had octopus on the menu for the first time. It was outstanding. Unusual preparation in that it had some hot peppers in the sauce. It was a great addition to the menu. I hope they continue to offer it. Service is always wonderful. We had Dickey this time. Deborah is also wonderful. We have never had bad service at Wink. It is small and cozy. Once inside you don't even feel like you are in a little shopping center. If you want great food and service at a place that is consistently good, I recommend Wink."

  • "Granted the they warn you, but portions are small. That doesn't bother me. However, they are overpriced for the quality/value received. We had a second dinner later that night."

  • "My wife bought a voucher on Restaurant.com. I was not expecting much, but it was delicious. It's definitely a foodie place with great farm to table fare!"

  • "We have eaten at Wink Restaurant several times per year over the last four years, usually for special occasions, and have always enjoyed the experience. The menu varies depending on what is available locally, the food is prepared properly, and the service is exceptional and friendly. The restaurant is always willing to address dietary needs of its customers. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Food was fabulous and the service was even better! We were there to celebrate a birthday and they went out of their way to make the evening memorable. The lemon curd dessert was one of the best things we have ever tasted...so save room! Highly recommend and will visit again the next time we are in Austin!"

  • "best special occasion restaurant ever. we spent almost 3 hours for our anniversary dinner . i highly recommend the 5 course chef tasting with wine pairings. our waiter was tremendous. he changed some of the wine pairings to what he thought would be a better pairing and his choices were excellent. its a very small intimate setting type of restaurant. i had never heard of this place till i read reviews of another restaurant and the reviews kept saying not as good as Wink."

  • "The takeaway: impeccable from start to finish- before we even arrived at the restaurant, our host had called to confirm our reservation, inquire whether we had any special requests, or occasions bringing us there, then continued to provide for everything we could've wished for from the serving staff once at our table. Our server was knowledgeable about each dish, its wine pairing, brought us copious amounts of delicious ciabatta bread & butter, & managed to anticipate our every move without being pushy. The food- delicious, creative, perfectly prepared, not to mention local & sustainable. Wink would've been worth every penny without the coupon. Whether you're an Austinite, or just visiting, please head over to support this homegrown gem."

  • "Have eaten at most all of the upscale restaurants in Austin and I still like Wink the best. My favorite place for food, wine and great service!!! Highly recommend to anyone visiting Austin or anyone living in Austin who wants some great food!"

  • "I found Wink by serendipity while planning to propose to my girlfriend. Wink capped off a wonderful day date I had planned by far exceeding any expectations I could have reasonably imagined. The wait staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. They are keen to serve and inform and identified both me and my girlfriend by name before we had even been seated. Every question we had was answered expertly and genteelly. The food was exquisite. I have since recommended both the grilled sweetbreads we shared and the impeccable fois gras to anyone who will listen. I cannot recommend Wink enough. I've had some truly wonderful dining experiences, but Wink surpasses them all. I cannot wait to return."

  • "I recently relocated to Austin, and I was looking for a romantic place to take my love for date night. I found WINK online and I am so glad I did. The food was absolutely phenomenal, most certainly one of the best meals either of us had ever had. We are both "foodies" at heart so the ever changing menu was right up our alley. I would recommend WINK to ANYONE, no matter the occasion!!! It is my new Austin favorite, thanks!"

You will not be dissapointed, don't wait for a special occasion, the food & service will make it just that! Looking forward to our next dinner..."

  • "Wink never fails to have a creative menu with several delicious options. The Bibb salad with bleu cheese and apples was dressed to perfection and the duck entree - yum! My husband enjoyed his rack of lamb and the dessert trio is not to be missed. The service is so personal and friendly - the staff makes you feel like special guests."

  • "A limited menu of exquisitly prepared eclectic main entrees. The portions are on the small side, yet, with one of the wonderful salads and a shared dessert, no one left the restaurant hungry."

  • "My husband and I love all of Austin's wonderful restaurants (Vespaio, Odd Duck, Eastside Cafe, Uchi, Uchiko, Parkside, Qui, Barley Swine....just to name a few) but our favorite Austin restaurant remains Wink. Splurge and get either the 5 course or 7 course chef's tasting menu with the wine pairing, you won't regret it!"

  • "This was the best dinner we've had in Austin by far. We loved the tasting menu and the wine pairings were superb. The chef's and wait staff's experience really shows. Service was friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent and timed well. We really really enjoyed the overall experience. The candied lemon and orange rinds are excellent"

  • "The restaurant is small and intimate place located in an unlikely little strip mall, but don't let that dissuade you from trying it out. We tried foie gras PB&J appetizer and it was great. Seared scallops and sashimi were crazy good. Them we topped off dinner with the delicious dessert trio."

  • "I hate writing restaurant reviews, but I was so impressed with the food and service at Wink that I would be remiss not to give them the credit they deserve. 1. I made a reservation, but was running late and called to let them know. They could not have been kinder and more reassuring. When we arrived 30 minutes late (to a FULL restaurant), the host kindly shook our hands, asked our names, and guided us to the separate bar so we could grab a drink while he set our table. 2. Every item we ordered was delicious, and even though the menu changes daily our server was able to answer all our questions and make excellent suggestions. 3. The wine selection 4.The host remembered (and used) our names several more times that night, even on our way out"

  • "We did the five course tasting menu at Wink. Each dish was fantastic.. The chef is very talented and the servers were wonderful. We supplemented the 5 course with the foi gras, which is a unique presentation for an amazing dish. Would eat here every night, but next time, we will go to happy hour and have some great wine and half price apps. "

  • "AAS listed the top 50 restaurants in Austin and Wink was near the top. We thought we'd give it a try. Everything about it is top notch. We "went for broke," so to speak and had the 7 course tastings. Our server even made "modifications" to suit our preferences. We may have had better food and service in our lifetimes ... but we just can't recall where or when! Be prepared to pay for the best and tip your servers. They go out of their way to take good care of you. "
