  • "While the service is slow and unattentive (slow May be on purpose for the full Italian experience?) the food and ambiance is wonderful. The server was very knowledgeable about gluten free options (Celiac) and easily navigated me through the menu - with lots of gluten free options!"

  • "Winflo Osteria exceeded our expectations. The food was as good, if not better, than any other Austin Italian place, and the espresso is the best in town. Worth a detour."

  • "The five of us enjoyed our evening at Winflo. Charming place, efficient valet service, gracious and accommodating hostesses, eager and enthusiastic wait staff, good food and drink presented well merit a try."

  • "Great building and very nice decor. The food was just a bit off--90% of the way there. I had a pasta dish with shrimp. Cooked very well, but the sauce was runny (it tasted fantastic, it was just runny and it almost killed the dish). My friend had a pesto pasta dish. Again very good, just way too much pesto. A little pesto goes a long way. If they would just tweak the sauces a bit, it would be a fantastic place. I also had some cheese cake with caramel drizzled on top. Again, great cake, but too much caramel (and I like caramel a lot). My friend had the tiramisu and he loved it. Maybe it was an off night. I'd go back again, but I think I'll try the pizzas and see if that is better."

  • "Evidently word of mouth has gotten out about this little authentic Italian restaurant. The food was very good, in a casually elegant setting. We will definitely return!(The only drawback was the loud group of women.)"

  • "Coming from San Francisco, we're all about tripping across great little dining gems and this is definitely one of them. So unexpected and so unassuming from the street, then you walk inside to find the coolest abode with a fabulous vibe and aesthetic matched entirely with a perfect menu and delectable food. We've been back since and are venturing there with 2 children in tow this evening for the best pizza (the carbonara) I think we've experienced in ages."

  • "Pleasant lunch, good food, not exceptional, excellent service, great location, worked well for our occasion of 6 people"

  • "We enjoyed the quality of pasta dishes here the best. They are well worth the trip. The pizza was good. It's all fresh, and if you're in mood for pizza, it'll be a decent choice, but Pint House has better as does East Side Pies. I brought a date here and the outside is nice in the evening- very romantic. The server was very friendly, however his timing was off: late greeting and drink arrival, salads came with the meal, and check came before we were done eating. Overall, it's worth the trip for the pasta and the atmosphere. Also, you can find free parking in the lot off of Pressler Street after 6pm if you do not wish to valet."

  • "The whole experience at WinFlo was terrible. We ask for a table outside and they set us under a speaker. The music was uncomfortably loud and it was very hard to hold a conversation. In addition there was a very loud table of 5 people right beside us. The service was very slow. It was over an hour before our salads arrive. The beet salad was wilted and had no flavor at all. The caprese salad was soaked in balsamic and the cheese had very a nasty tasting herb mixture in it. The main course was no better. The shrimp pomodoro left a bad aftertaste in your mouth, the shrimp was overcooked and of poor quality. The lasagna was just downright bad. We will not be returning. "

  • "This place wins for ambiance. Sadly, the food is about average. I've been here a couple times and have just not been blown away. The pizzas aren't anything special. The lasagna is your typical lasagna. Nothing wrong with the food, it's just nothing to write home about. On the night of my most recent visit, the service was sub-par. The waitress kept apologizing and blaming a large party downstairs that backed up the kitchen, but other tables nearby seemed to get their food quicker than we did. Winflo seems to be doing well. I'm glad to have it in the neighborhood. But in a city of great restaurant choices, they really need to up their game. The food and service I experienced were totally forgettable. "

  • "I hate to say it because they are too popular as it is, but this place is so great. Their steak entree with crispy Brussel sprouts and fingerling potatoes is perfect every time."

  • "This was my third visit to Winflo and I was sadly disappointed. The first two times were amazing. However, this time the service was abysmal and they food was so-so. I had to go find our waitress twice! And we had to send back two dishes. The Osso Buco tasted awful and the house special was very fishy tasting. I'll go one more time. Hopefully, it was a fluke."

  • "I live in the neighborhood, so it was close and the atmosphere and service was GREAT! The lobster soup was awesome and the dessert was AMAZING. The steak was kind of chewy, which I didn't love. I'd like to try the brunch soon. "

  • "Our waiter was great....when our food came. It was a two hour meal which no ones likes. The food and drinks were good, but don't stop in if you have to be anywhere soon. They also were not busy at all!"

  • "Italian seems pretty straight forward, yet Winflo got everything wrong on our recent visit. The calamari was over fried and tough, mozerella was bad in the caprese salad, the pizza was greasy and tasteless and they undercooked the meat to an extreme rare. Service wasn'tuch better with multiple requests for utensils. "

  • "Very trendy Italian restaurant. Gluten-free friendly, good portion sizes, price is fair for quality. Good service enjoyed my time. Had 2 good glasses of wine. "

  • "Honestly, it wasn't as great as the reviews I read on yelp. Service was slow, over-cooked calamari had no flavor and the special scallops and risotto weren't all that special...dish was salty and mushy. The rigatoni was good as well as the Gorgonzola salad. Wine was reasonably priced. "

  • "Great location, pretty interior, great outside. Very good service. Nice place overall. The menu is a little dull and the portions are a little small, particularly the beet salad. Ditto the caprese. In the caprese the tomatoes looked 1950's supermarket-ish and the basil had gotten old and tired with brown spots but the cheese was very good."

  • "Winflo is THE spot in Old West Austin. Great food, comfortable outside seating, and is it just me, or is everyone who dines here good looking? The Listening Room at Winflo is also great for live music. If you're looking for a non-pretentious hot spot in Austin, Winflo is it!"

  • "I made this reservation 3 weeks in advance - 3 people. They even called that afternoon to confirm my reservation. Our party arrived at 2 separate times about 5 minutes apart. The first person was seated and gave an easy, accurate description of the 2nd couple. When the 2nd couple walked in less than 5 minutes later the host did not recognize that they might be the missing couple in our party, and then told them that there was no reservation under that name. They did find them a very small table almost in the bar - but for 20 minutes we sat apart until I finally walked the whole restaurant looking for them. The staff was not apologetic nor attentive. They were busy but not swamped. Hopefully this was just a one off. Food was good."

  • "I am a frequent patron at Winflo. The food is great, service outstanding and the employees are super friendly. Growing up in a house built in the 20's, in Houston, I have a great appreciation for older homes. This home converted into a restaurant is a gem. Plus, I love all the oak trees in the front. If you haven't checked it out, you really should"

  • "This was our first time at Winflo Osteria. It was a beautiful day, so we sat outside for lunch. It's a great patio. The food was yummy, the service was great, and it was an overall nice experience. A few things to note. The restaurant is right on a busy street, but we didn't really notice the traffic when sitting outside. Leave time to find parking. The restaurant's parking lot is super small and street parking can be tough to find."

  • "I don't know if the perfect weather we had this weekend or the fact that I came to Winflo for a date in the promising first few weeks of a budding relationship clouded my judgment at all, but this place was fabulous. We sat outside on one of the cascading patios and enjoyed the cool spring breeze and gentle hum of the outdoor atmosphere. Our server was attentive, but not annoying as sometimes is the case when you are at a restaurant. We were very pleased with the extensive wine list consisting of a multitude of authentic Italian wines and the montepulcciano was quite good. We shared a couple of pizzas, the salsiccia and the pesto. Both were delicious with the salsiccia taking first prize in my opinion. I highly recommend Winflo!"

  • "We received a gift card for a dinner out with our older kids. Decided to end Spring Break by having a nice dinner. We were very happy with Winflo. The setting was beautiful yet not too overdone....very homey and comfortable. We sat in the corner next to the window. We enjoyed looking at the art on the walls and noted that the outdoor area was really nice, on a warmer evening a good choice. The menu was not overwhelming in the selections but covered lots of different types of food. I also liked that the plates were not huge....just right...perfect amount of food actually. Really fresh and delicious, hot and beautifully presented. The wine we selected was delicious as well and our server was very attentive but not overly intrusive."

  • "Dinner for four. Two entrees delivered five minutes after the first two. Osso Bucco did not fall off the bone as it should. Filet was not prepared as requested (rare). Possibly a result of SXSW burnout."

  • "We like Winflo Osteria; have had good meals there. However, Sunday brunch fell short in two ways: 1) We both ordered frittata's and both were extremely tough, dry and overcooked. Eggs get rubbery in a microwave and we suspect that was part of the preparation routine but however they achieved it, the result was less than palatable. 2) We are both gluten intolerant and, for some unknown reason, Winflo puts wheat flour in their polenta cakes (and a number of other dishes) rendering them inedible for us. Why use wheat flour in a dish that is classically made only with corn meal? If you're going to use small amount of flour as a binder, why not be considerate enough (and smart enough) to use rice flour or some other non-wheat flour? Odd....."

  • "The restaurant is well designed and comfortable. The outdoor covered dining area is large and well laid out in two levels. Indoors there is plenty of natural light coming in from several windows and the space is finished in warm colors. The waiter was very attentive and friendly making our diner that much more memorable. The appetizer of Calamari, even though it was a very small portion of calamari rings, was well done with a tasty lemon aioli. The porchetta/pork belly was very tasty but could have been accompanied with a side of noodles. We also had the cavatelli con salsiccia and this dish was just right, plentiful and delish. To end the meal we had a very light and delish lemon cheesecake that was a perfect ending to our meal."

  • "The restaurant is 2 blocks from where my wife and I live, so I REALLY wanted to like it. They've set up a beautiful outdoor dining area, but our waiter disappeared for over 20 minutes after we'd finished our meals and after we got his attention, never returned with the boxed up leftovers of our pizza. The pizza crust was pretty far from inspired. It was disappointing."

  • "I had the pepperoni and olive pizza, and it was the best pizza I've had for a long time. The crust was freshly made and tasty, and I was impressed by how good the sauce and the cheese were. For dessert I had a berry crumble topped with a dollop of whipped cream. The crumble was fresh and not unnecessarily sweet. The restaurant is in an old house with lots of character and natural light. I will definitely be going again, and on a future visit I'll try sitting outside."
