This distinctive restaurant is located on Jacksonville's Southbank. With its French Country atmosphere, Wine Cellar is loaded with charm. An outdoor brick paved garden set beneath a majestic oak tree is the perfect place for a romantic luncheon or dinner.

While constantly evolving with eclectic new world dishes, Classic Continental Cuisine excels here. To add regional flavor, local produce and indigenous fresh seafood have become integral elements of the recipes.

Wine Cellar is consistently rated as one of "Florida's Top 500 Restaurants"; as one of "Jacksonville's Top 25 Restaurants" and the wine list perennially wins the "Wine Spectator Award of Excellence".

Diner Reviews
  • "Very small portion of the fish special. Left hungry even though I had the crab bisque as well."

  • "The Wine Cellar can be a quick dinner before the symphony or a relaxing evening with your special someone. The pace is dictated by you. We enjoy going for special events when rates are reduced but quality of food is always expected to be great. We hope Jacksonville will get behind its long-standing establishments and enjoy fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere. There was a time when you would not go to the Wine Cellar except in coat and tie. Our recent visit saw patrons in shorts off the boat -- we hope this more casual dress will appeal to a wider guest opportunity who can afford ($$$_$$$$) a quality meal. We have never been disappointed in food or service--first visit was in the 1970's!"

  • "Celebrating 40 years of great food and service. Love this place! We will be back!"
    Dined on 6/12/2014
  • "This is the best restaurant in Jacksonville for quiet and elegant dining. No place could be better for a very special occasion. It' a neighborhood gem and always reliable. Food, service and ambience are tops."
    Dined on 6/11/2014
  • "This is a marvelous restaurant! The grouper is the best!"
    Dined on 6/6/2014
  • "The atmosphere made me feel as if I was truly eating in a wine cellar. I had the filet with butter poached lobster and it was prepared perfectly. They have a four course meal that I will have to return and try. The wait staff was attentive throughout the meal."

  • "Delicious food, serene atmosphere, excellent service."

  • "Wow, 40 years and still going strong! The Wine Cellar never disappoints us. This place is so unique, and Wayne and a couple of others have waited tables (and are co-owners, I think) since it opened. Order anything that looks good, you probably can't go wrong here. Splurge on wines, there are so many excellent choices. This is one of the few elegant, quiet, romantic, excellent places in Jacksonville, easy to get to just south of downtown across from the giant Oak tree. Plenty of parking in a private lot just east of the building. Congrats on 40 years, guys!!!"

  • "This was my second time here. I had an AMAZING time the first time. This time not so much. First off, the food is simply incredible. Nothing negative whatsoever. But...I was here on a romantic date and the place was empty. The hostess tried to sit us by a wall in the back. I asked to be by the beautiful view of the deck and she said they "need to spread us out" and refused. WHAT? $200 for dinner wine and I'm sitting just to be "spread out"? Also, there were some obvious moments my date and I were in conversation and we just kept getting interrupted to order more. I mean, give us a minute to enjoy the night. The food came out like a NASCAR rally. No time between to savor anything. A bit disappointed if I must say. "

  • "After finding this place during one of my early morning runs, I decided to take my wife for a nice evening away from the kids. My parents cautioned me not to get my hopes up too much as they were not impressed with the food. My experience was mixed. The atmosphere was wonderful and amazingly quiet on a Saturday evening. The yellowfin and pickled ginger was perhaps the best appetizer I have ever had. The wine list was excellent. Unfortunately, the entrees including the almond encrusted grouper and the fillet lacked the flavor and texture I have come to expect at finer restaurants. Service was outstanding and the desserts were acceptable. For the price, I feel there are better options nearby, but a return for drinks and appetizers...okay!"

  • "It as my wife's birthday--I did not feel the waiter was very attentive to the party. The restaurant was slow--the waiter did not offer my daughter more iced tea as we sat there eating appetizers and our meal-because this was a celebration you would think that the waiter would offer more after dinner drinks-specialty coffees or be there for us --was not attentive at all --the restaurant still has it's specialty about it --but was very disappointed in the wait staff--two of us ordered the 3 trio, and others snapper and chicken pasta dish "

  • "The weekend specials are a wonderful deal, but everything is always cooked to perfection and the wait staff is efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable. Excellent and reasonably priced wine list."

  • "That was a first time experience for my husband and I. Excellent service, charming decor, and hands down an absolute pleasure on the palate!!! Will come back for sure!!!"

  • "We came to celebrate Mothers day and the whole experience was just wonderful. The food was amazing, especially the dark chocolate waffles with peanut butter ice cream! Service was attentive and professional and the seating was like being in our own dining room. The Wine Cellar continues to be one of the best in Jax."

  • "We always enjoy the Wine Cellar, our favorite restaurant - in JAX, maybe anywhere. RBT "

  • "Downtown Jacksonville is not known for great cuisine but the Wine Cellar is a wonderful restaurant. The decor is high-end, the service is excellent, and the food is also quite good. The restaurant is quiet and can handle quite a large crowd, or an intimate dinner for two. The wine list is one of the most extensive in Jacksonville. Our group had the scallop, shrimp, and steak trio; the grouper; the filet minion; and the scallops. Not a bite was left on the plate and the desserts were tasty too. Our waiter was very attentive. While the restaurant is relatively pricey it is a decent value considering the service and the quality of the food"

  • "I had eaten here several years ago & couldn't wait to get back. Our server noted our theatre schedule mentioned on Open Table & was responsive. Our table ordered 5 different entrees and all were excellent. I had pasta & seafood which was spectacular. Beef filet was fork tender. My appetizer of guacamole & shrimp delicious! Folks raved about the vychissoi?"

  • "We had out of town guests and once again chose the wine cellar for dinner. We were not disappointed and our friends enjoyed a delicious meal. They were impressed with not only the quality of the food but the impeccable service and ambiance. "

  • "Always serve great food and the staff is very friendly and attentive. "

  • "We ate at Wine Cellar this weekend for a special occasion. The food was perfect. I ordered the prix fix menu including a fried green tomato salad, cod with pineapple risotto, and chocolate cake. My husband got the chicken picatta. Both meals were excellent. I ordered a pear martini and it was perfect. The Wine Cellar has a superb menu. The menu includes just about every protein you could think of and very interesting preparations. The restaurant's patrons are a little on the older side, definitely not a trendy scene. But the food and service are outstanding and my husband and I (20-somethings) loved the experience. We will be going back soon! "

  • "We had a delicious dinner and attentive service. The restaurant is divided into several rooms making for a quiet, intimate setting. The filet minion from the price fixe 3 course dinner was superb. My husband's lamb was equally well prepared. The attention to detail on the meals was evident. We plan to return in the near future."

  • "Having been a Wine Cellar enthusiast since its opening, and since retirement not going as often as we did before, we decided to celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary as the first monthly lunch for the entire year. The experience did not disappoint. The extensive menu made selections difficult but fun and the service by Gary (who has been there for lots of years) made this a wise choice and befitting of this significant milestone in our marriage. Kudos to Vicki and the entire staff for providing a true gem in the Jacksonville dining scene!"

  • "Chose this restaurant for a birthday dinner for two. It was excellent from the first order of drink through the dessert! The food was perfect and portioned just right. The service was exceptional. There was never a moment when anything was needed, nor was she overwhelming. We have both agreed that we will definitely be going back!"

  • "We met 3 other couples at the Wine Cellar for lunch. They put us in one of the small rooms so it was very quiet and easy for us to talk with each other. Everyone enjoyed their meal, 3 of us ordered the pecan crusted salmon salad and that was delicious and the perfect size for lunch. The service was very good even though they were quite busy that day. I am sure we will make a return visit either for lunch or dinner."
    Dined on 3/24/2014
  • "The food, service, and ambience were all clearly acceptable. The wine list is amazing, but a quick glance reveals that the markup over retail is absurdly high. Also, the automatic "service charge" is not a feature that this diner appreciates."
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "It was our anniversary. It was excellent. Wayne was our waiter and he was wonderful.ambience was awesome. Minimal noise."

  • "I have lived in Jacksonville my entire life and had never been to Wine Cellar until now. We had a show scheduled and chose this place for its proximity to the show location. The food and service were excellent! It's a perfect place to try new foods, enjoy a romantic evening with your significant other and a nice dinner with the girls! I will definitely return to Wine Cellar in the future."

  • "Service was okay but nothing you would brag about. Didn't make you feel like you were in a nice establishment. Food was average related to price. No real complaints overall other than expected the dining experience to be better than it was for the money. Nothing special. ."

  • "Parking is the only issue in inclimate weather! Otherwise, great experience."
    Dined on 2/26/2014
  • "I was excited to go...have not been there many years ago. The food was good but, not that special. Wine was good but, over priced. With all of the other restaurants in the area it will be a long time before I go back."
    Dined on 2/26/2014
  • "My wife and I had dinner at the Wine Cellar. She enjoyed her filet. I thought the ribeye was average though the mac and cheese dish was good but extremely hot. I don't think it ever cooled. Service was good. There was a large group next room over so it was loud. I don't like loud when I'm eating."

  • "I wanted to take my lady friend to someplace special for her birthday. Neither of us had ever been to the Wine Cellar and it looked like a good bet. We were not disappointed. Our waiter gave us a tour of the restaurant and took a couple of pictures in front of their wine rack. The service and the food were great. Beverage glasses were filled constantly. The manager came by to make sure that everything was okay and brought a mini birthday cake for my friend. Would definitely go back. A little too expensive for us for regular dining but certainly not outrageous."

  • "seemed a little disorganized at first but the entry had a nice waiting area. Once we were seated the service was great. The food was excellent. I will certainly return."

  • "they have open bar, but don't serve Mojito.... we were in and out in half an hour, so we didn't enjoy the night, and I also mentioened that it was my husband's birthday, but nobody wished him a happy birthday, bottom line it's a dead restaurant during the weekdays, I have to try it on weekends, I might change my mind."

  • "The Wine Cellar is just fabulous. From the service to the food it was great. We enjoyed our waiter, he was friendly and helpful with our menu selection but knew to pace our dinner and give us time and space to enjoy both the place and each other. The food was spectacular for both of us. The wine list was really great for a small place we found several we would like. We live in Key West the home of great key line pie and theirs was super very creaming and rich so don't miss a piece of pie. Overall a very fun time."
