We have been going to the Wine Cellar before the Symphony for several years and it has always been a great experience. This time it was just so so from start to finish. For the price of the menu, our meals were mediocre.

I had a wonderful experience at dining at the Wine Cellar. My waiter Kevin was very punctual through out dinner. The atmosphere was very romantic which is what we were looking for. The food was delicious and plated beautifully. I recommend the Wine Cellar for any special occassion.

My only suggestion would be to have a tv for watching post game or pre-game shows in the parlor and bar area located up front and away from the private dining areas. we visited after the FL/GA game last weekend, and although we enjoyed our meal very much; it would have been nice to have a cocktail in the parlor or bar area and watch post-game clippings on ESPN before dinner. that might make us reconsider booking next year for a game event. We will be back otherwise.

We love this gem. Our normal waiter gary was off this guy that took was just OK. The vanilla bean sauce was brilliant. Our scallops and lamb was a little over seared. Overall we had an amazing dining experience. Keylime pie was average. Potabela Libster stuffed mushroom was small but deluciousI have come to expect more frim this amazing restaurant. Typically the food is stellar. This time was less gratifying then previous experiences. We will definitely return again

I went to The Wine Cellar with a few friends for a relaxing "girl's night out" dinner. The ambience was very nice; we started with cocktails in the garden then had a wonderful meal in the dining room. The hostess, (Patty?) was very attentive & helpful as was our server, Gary. They were both very knowledgeable about the wine list and the menu. One of my friends who was visiting from the UK exclaimed, "That was the best meal I've ever had in the U. S.!" For the record, she visits the U.S. relatively often. The only 'negative' to the experience was the AC; 1 friend was shivering, but I was ok b/c I had on a jacket. All in, The Wine Cellar gave us delightful ambience, a great staff, and wonderful meal. A+. I will definitely return.

The Wine Cellar has a nice atmosphere, professional wait staff, and pretty good food. Unfortunately, the wine is very overpriced. We ordered a bottle of the Franciscan Winery Cabernet for $85.00. This wine retails for $20-30. While I understand that you are paying for the service, pricing a wine that far above retail is unreasonable. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for this reason. There are too many places with similar charm, service level and great food to be overcharged for wine.

The last two times I dined at The Wine Cellar, I met some of my girlfriends there for lunch. Each time our wait staff were spot on, giving us adequate time to make our selections, very responsive but not hovering. Both times we also lingered late at the table, and the staff quietly cleaned up around us. The food has been great, and it is a perfect spot for both dining and visiting, since the noise level is low. I have also dined there in the evenings in the past, and their selections are both inventive and tasty. I will return time and time again.

I have eaten at The Wine Cellar many times and the food and service are excellent. However, they add a 18% gratuity to the bill, but don't indicate it on the credit card receipt, so; if you don't check the detailed bill you could add a double gratuity to the total on the credit card which already includes the 18% gratuity. I usually tip at least 20% but felt this was inappropriate so did not add any additional amount. They probably have it in small print at the bottom of the menu, but the wait staff should point it out when bringing the bill.

Unfortunately, the conversation on the way home was all about the rude, disinterested & not very well trained waiter that served us. It all began when we had questions about their cocktails & the prix fixe menu (he was either not well informed or just didn't care to share his knowledge) and only got worse from that point on. I would love to go back & try other items on their menu, but if I do I will have to insist on a different server.

We went to the Wine cellar as part of Eat Up Jacksonville. The Wine Cellar has an outstanding menu for this program. One of the items was a rib eye steak. The waiter came back to our table and informed us they were out of the rib eye. While we we were trying to chouse an alternative, he returned to the table and offered the filet Mignon as a substitute, no extra charge. That sums up the Wine Cellar. Take care of the customer. Hats off

My boyfriend and I had never been to the wine cellar so we decided we'd try it out for eat up downtown, it was 35 a person for a 3 course meal. Typically the menu is much much more pricey but the food is good quality and worth it. The building is a little bit cramped and small but its a nice atmosphere.

While the setting is suitable for a business meeting or romantic dinner, the food is just average. The escargots came in a sauce that was so bland that a lot of salt and pepper could not help it. Entrees were better but not great food. Service was adequate but not overly friendly nor eager to share specials . We would probably spend our "special dinner" money elsewhere.

The Wine Cellar can be a quick dinner before the symphony or a relaxing evening with your special someone. The pace is dictated by you. We enjoy going for special events when rates are reduced but quality of food is always expected to be great. We hope Jacksonville will get behind its long-standing establishments and enjoy fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere. There was a time when you would not go to the Wine Cellar except in coat and tie. Our recent visit saw patrons in shorts off the boat -- we hope this more casual dress will appeal to a wider guest opportunity who can afford ($$$_$$$$) a quality meal. We have never been disappointed in food or service--first visit was in the 1970's!

This was my second time here. I had an AMAZING time the first time. This time not so much. First off, the food is simply incredible. Nothing negative whatsoever. But...I was here on a romantic date and the place was empty. The hostess tried to sit us by a wall in the back. I asked to be by the beautiful view of the deck and she said they "need to spread us out" and refused. WHAT? $200 for dinner wine and I'm sitting just to be "spread out"? Also, there were some obvious moments my date and I were in conversation and we just kept getting interrupted to order more. I mean, give us a minute to enjoy the night. The food came out like a NASCAR rally. No time between to savor anything. A bit disappointed if I must say.

After finding this place during one of my early morning runs, I decided to take my wife for a nice evening away from the kids. My parents cautioned me not to get my hopes up too much as they were not impressed with the food. My experience was mixed. The atmosphere was wonderful and amazingly quiet on a Saturday evening. The yellowfin and pickled ginger was perhaps the best appetizer I have ever had. The wine list was excellent. Unfortunately, the entrees including the almond encrusted grouper and the fillet lacked the flavor and texture I have come to expect at finer restaurants. Service was outstanding and the desserts were acceptable. For the price, I feel there are better options nearby, but a return for drinks and appetizers...okay!

The restaurant was slow--the waiter did not offer my daughter more iced tea as we sat there eating appetizers and our meal-because this was a celebration you would think that the waiter would offer more after dinner drinks-specialty coffees or be there for us --was not attentive at all --the restaurant still has it's specialty about it --but was very disappointed in the wait staff--two of us ordered the 3 trio, and others snapper and chicken pasta dish
