Diner Reviews
  • "The food and service here was good, I wouldn't say anything outstanding though. The atmosphere was charming however the air conditioning was challenged and madeit rather unconfortable to eat. All in all I would return here again but maybe when the temperature is cooler."

  • "We started with the abalone appetizer! Great😍 my husband ordered the tuna tartare and I ordered the Lobster Crab Salad with papaya. Awesome !"

  • "Wonderful outdoor dining! A little heavy on the prices. Would definitely recommend!"

  • "Brunch or lunch at he Wine Cellar is definitely one of our favorite dining experiences. The veggie omlelet was the best I've ever had anywhere. The view of the hills and blue sky, coupled with the up close flowers was charming. The service was attentive and the scheduling staff were most helpful. Love this place for al fresco dining."

  • "Food was good...way better than average, but not the absolute best. The patio was nice, but it was facing a mall type area that had a bunch of kids running around. We have two small kids and certainly appreciate that they like to run around, we just happened to get a night off for our anniversary and from the prices and reviews, we thought we were going to someplace a little more 'adult'. It really was a nice place, but it was just a little more casual than we were led to believe."

  • "As always, a happy experience. The food is excellent, though the portions are larger than I like. We tried for a patio table, but were just as glad we had an indoor lunch. it was quiet and pleasant and the service was very good, with a friendly and efficient waiter. Of course, parking is an issue. The driver in our group dropped three of us off and had to park quite a distance away--we waited probably 10 minutes for him to get to the restaurant."

  • "We used to date at the Wine Cellar years ago….loved the romantic, dark little place downstairs. Chose Wine Cellar on a whim this time, and we were so happy! Will come mere more often!! Great wine, food, patio, service."

  • "We always enjoy our time on the patio at the Wine Cellar. Service is always good and food is consistent."

  • "The food was very good and the dessert was great too. We had drinks that were generous and stuffed poblano pepper which was an appetizer. it was big enough that we decided not to order an entree and just have a dessert and coffee. We went at 6 and were able to sit outside. This place will only sit you outside on a first come/first dibs basis although you can make a reservation but can only sit outside if their is a table available when you get there. Trying to find parking can be a problem so if you go leave enough time to search for parking. The one downside was the sun was directly in my face and when I asked if they could move the umbrellas a little - they wouldn't do it! The sun did move behind the tree after awhile."

  • "I've only had lunch every time I get a chance to come by here and, every time it's always prepared well. Service, too, by all was really attentive and timely. My dog always get fresh water whenever I come for lunch. Pets are not allowed in patio area; however, the staff finds a nice table by the edge of patio so my "baby" can be next to me while dining. Food are always dependable. Excellent service every time!"

  • "The Wine Cellar has been one of our favorite restaurants. This visit was no exception. We found the service very good , ambience and food great. We will return again soon."

  • "This is our family birthday dinner favorite, since all of our celebrations are in the summer. They have one of the best outdoor patios in the southbay. The food is consistently good and service is attentive but not excessive."
    Dined on 7/2/2014
  • "We had the Cheddar & Ale Fondue, which was okay but I prefer their traditional Swiss/Gruyere Fondue. The Garlic Calamari were light & tasty, but not as filling an appetizer as the fondue. The patio dining area has a beautiful close view of the Santa Cruz mountains, lovely."

  • "Great food, large portions, you definately get the most bang for your buck here. I have been here for both Lunch and Dinner. Good service."

  • "Our group enjoyed a pot of fondue on the shady patio, and each had a different tasty salad. I'm not usually a salad person, but the variety of salads here satisfied all of us. I noticed everyone cleaned their plates! The Wine Cellar patio is a good place to escape the stress of the valley and enjoy the little outdoor nook in Old Town. Have dined inside the cozy "cellar" downstairs too, and prefer it for romantic evenings and a warm spot to go in the winter for butternut squash soup or pizza. If you don't arrive early for parking, you may need to walk from one of the larger parking lots down the street."

  • "We really enjoy the patio dining. The service was good and the food good was plentiful."

  • "Once again, The Wine Cellar proves a crowd favorite for my group of friends who celebrate their June birthdays in style at this excellent restaurant. Outstanding food from a very large and varied menu, beginning with great drinks at the bar, competently and expertly made by a staff that doesn't miss a beat. It's instant ON from the moment you walk in the door. The calamari is terrific, and the stuffed Poblano pepper is fantastic: always perfect starters. We feasted on everything from rib eye steak to lobster and crab salad with Asian dressing to a tower of Mahi Mahi, perched on basmati rice and baby bok choy. The seafood fettucini in white wine sauce is a masterpiece. Everything is cooked to perfection and delivered with grace by Tim Flynn."

  • "Always love the Wine Cellar! I have to have that Harvest Salad with the candied walnuts... And when the calories allow - the fondue is just a great Los Gatos experience. For foreign tourists - Bienvenue!"

  • "I always enjoy coming here! The food and service are very good!!!"

  • "Overall, our dinner was excellent; however, we brought two friends who had never been to the Wine Cellar before, and while they loved the food and the friendliness -- it took forever to have our order taken, and forever to get our drinks from the bar."

  • "I work in Los Gatos and often go to the Wine Cellar for lunch with small and larger groups. Food is great, service is wonderful and always enjoy the restaurant, whether sitting inside or outside. It is one of the only restaurants with an outdoor eating area at lunch in Los Gatos and it is reliably good. I highly recommend it. I don't think I've ever been there for dinner, so I don't live in the area, but I've heard it is great for dinner also!"

  • "Returning to an old favorite after several years is always difficult as memories are not always accurate. In this case they were and the wonderful service and good food made my husband's birthday celebration fantastic!"

  • "Had a wonderful afternoon celebrating my daughter's birthday. Food and service was superb. We dined outside for lunch. Would definitely go back."

  • "This restaurant offers good fondue, a really extensive salad collection and very nice entrees with meats and pastas as a focal point. Fish too. You definitely want to sit on the patio in the summer. The 'Cellar' is rather cave-like which can be cosy during the winter. "

  • "This is one of my favorite restaurants, but this visit was disappointing. We had unusually long waits between visits from our waiter. They didn't split our appetizer as requested. The waiter corrected that but, after he'd left, we discovered it contained ingredients we'd requested be omitted; our waiter didn't come back to check, and we were hungry, so we picked out the unwanted items. It took much longer than usual to receive our entrees. We were presented with birthday sundaes to apologize for the appetizer mishap. I think a better solution would be to remove the charge for the unsatisfactory course & let customers choose their dessert (or offer a free dessert of choice, or a discount on a future meal). "

  • "As local residents, the Wine Cellar is definitely one of our favorite restaurants. The outdoor seating is a bonus in the shade of the oak trees. The tables are a little close but one can overlook that with the consistently good food."

  • "Get the Soy Glazed Wild Salmon. I'm not a salmon fan, but the waitress talked me into it and now I get it every time."

  • "We always order the fondue appetizer. It's yummy! It's tasty and not too filling, so we could enjoy an entree. The sauce on the steak was decadent. "

  • "Wonderful first time experience dining at the Wine Cellar. We've lived in the area for several years, but just never got around to it. Food was delicious, and I was actually a little envious of other guests' meals. Definitely going back to try their Sunday brunch."
    Dined on 5/18/2014
  • "Beautiful setting on the outdoor patio. Sunday brunch here is a treat; you order your entrée made-to-order, then visit a table of all-you-want fruit and muffins. If my Danish pastry hadn't been chilled (literally, it was COLD) I'd have been happier, but otherwise everything was delicious. The chef kindly fulfilled my request for a very-well-done hard-yolk egg in my Benedict; I know this goes against the grain for chefs, so thank you! Good service from our waiter, too."

  • "Just had brunch here this past weekend and enjoyed it greatly. I had the Breakfast Burrito which is quite substantial. Maybe too substantial but if you like a lot of food, go for it. Service was excellent and it was great to sit outside in the fresh air. I also enjoy their fruit and pastry bar!"

  • "It was a little chaotic when we checked in. Long line for the appetizer buffet which blocked the hostess desk. It took longer than expected to be seated. Our second course (main) wasn't warm. I don't think the restaurant was prepared for the Mother's Day Brunch crowd. "
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "The food and service were good for our special occasion, but the food was overpriced. We've eaten there previously for lunch on the patio and enjoyed the ambience. "

  • "We've eaten lunch at the Wine Cellar 2 times and enjoyed our meals each time. The service is attentive and they don't rush you. My wife particularly loves the fish and chips with SAND DABS. I've tried the artichoke and a pizza, both are very satisfactory. The prices are very reasonable for a Los Gatos eatery."

  • "Our friends from Germany visit twice a year. Their favorite restaurant is the Wine Cellar in Los Gatos. They love the Ahi Tuna as we do. We all order this dish. It is absolutely the best ever. Our friends are pilots and travel all over the world. They too agree that the Ahi Tuna dish at the Wine Cellar is excellent. Last night, the dish was the best ever and our waiter was fantastic. We will be back soon. Please don't ever change the Ahi Tuna entree. It is over the top:)"

  • "Great food, ambiance, and reasonably priced. Service is always friendly and efficient. Menu is varied, the Poblano Chili is great as an appetizer or entree, exceptional French Onion Soup, sandwich selection is generous with salad and fries, the Fisherman's pasta is one of the best. We have been here on several occasions, but only for lunch. We consider the Wine Cellar one of the better restaurants in Los Gatos. Great patio for outdoor dining."
